Paid another visit to SE. Still great. We ordered 4 sushi rolls — spicy california, spicy tune, volcano special roll and rainforest roll. All were wonderfully prepared, delivered quickly and excellent tasting. The sushi was pleasant to look at and fresh tasting. The service was great too. We were seated promptly, checked on frequently(even by others besides our waiter) and asked glasses refilled as soon as emptied. Armosphere: 4(it is a little loud) Service: 5 Taste: 4 Price: 4(on par with others in the area)

Absolutely delicious sashimi & sushi & excellent service. Highly recommend this establishment which was referred to us by our friends at Car Trends where we just bought a pre-owned Subaru in EXCELLENT condition for my daughter — finishing up here was icing on the cake! Top Grade meal all the way around so grateful for the rec. And the soundtrack was calming & mellow. Definitely a wonderful experience…

Passing by and stopped to eat dinner there. The place was packed. Ordered several sushi rolls. Sushi looked appealing to the eye but tasted nothing not to mention the rolls did not hold together. Overall, not a place I would go back or recommend!

Sapporo East is not just about great sushi; their entrees are absolutely phenomenal as well. I guarantee you, it is the best Japanese cuisine you can ever find in Central Pennsylvania. They take care of every details to meet the customer best satisfaction. Even the take out order is packed beautifully in the box, carefully arranged and very detailed.

I have never visited a sushi restaurant before and, I have to admit, I was a little nervous about the whole idea of it. However, the vibe of the restaurant — the small dining area, the friendly waiter — it all eased my concerns right off the bat! I was surprised to find such a quaint restaurant tucked back directly off the busy Carlisle Pike. The restaurant was clean and we did not have to wait to be seated(Thursday night) at our little table for two. We definitely utilized the BYOB option! The waiter promptly brought us two wine glasses and a bucket of ice for our white wine. In addition he was kind enough to bring me a fork… I’m not well-versed in the whole chopstick thing! I stuck with veggie rolls and crab rolls while my date enjoyed spicy tuna rolls and a side of octopus. We also ordered a plate of chicken fried rice to share. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and left full/satisfied!

I’ve been eating at Sapporo since it opened and, they make the best sushi in the area in my opinion. Everything is so fresh and the staff is very hospitable. Five stars!

i opened the door to enter and the first thing i noticed: it was loud. like sports bar loud. there were no tvs so i didnt really understand why people appeared drunk loud. its a byo establishment and apparently everyone was on their third bottle of wine. seated quickly and order taken as fast. Miso and salad arrived pronto. the salad was gross. it appeared to have been siting around all day in a walk-in. it was cold but loaded with water in the bottom. ew. i ordered two rolls and they were brought quickly. speciality salmon roll was too big to eat in one bite. the spicy sauce tasty though. asparagus salmon roll just fine all in all, it was decent… id try somewhere else next time im in the area though.

Good food. However, the service disappoints. Missed orders and delays forced me to give it 2 stars.

Best sushi on the Harrisburg Area. great lunch specials. prices are good and people are nice. I would suggest asking for them to make you something special if you have a favorite ingredient to two. always impressed with this

This was our second time here. The food is excellent! Best sushi in the area however the miso soup is terrible but the tempura is good too. We had not been here on a Friday night. It was very busy and four different people asked us to order, four people checked in every 5 minutes, four people filled glasses, cleared dishes while you were eating, and hurried you along for the check. I understand they want to turn the table over but it was ridiculous. Every minute one of the two hosts would pop there head around the corner and stare at you to see if your leaving. I stopped making eye contact and when I did they would walk right up to your table as if they were looking to clear something else. We will never go here again on a weekend because we like to enjoy dinner without being pushed out the door.

We were glad to find this and make it a regular stop when we are in the area. The sushi and sashimi are excellent.

Had the sushi boat and hot bowl. Hot bowl is so delicious. Def getting it again. The sushi boat was alright. The assortment of sushi, sashimi and rolls didn’t really blow me away. The sushi was good but it also wasn’t very fresh. I’m gonna try their special rolls next time. I’m sure they will taste great. Service was also friendly and attentive.

Great service, fresh sushi and the owner really cares. I love it when restaurants pack your food for you instead of just handing you a box. It’s the details that count and show attentiveness and a real passion for service. Sadly even some of the«nicest» steakhouses and restaurants in the area are quick to throw a box at you and walk away, but this place boxes ur leftovers for you and even packs chopsticks so you can eat it later! The attention to detail made them win me over and my taste buds too.

We had already found a great Japanese restaurant upon recently moving to the area, but a coworker of my husband’s recommended this as his favorite so we decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I wish we had not ventured into this establishment. My husband’s sushi was«meh» per his description. The miso soup tasted distinctly of plastic. My hibachi had so much pepper on it, it was inedible and they did not have the usual yum yum sauce as a condiment option to try to help wash it down. I ate a few bites and gave up. The service was almost nonexistent. No one ever asked how our meal was or if we needed anything. We had a hard time getting a refill and the dining room was freezing cold. We left and I ended up having to purchase a separate meal elsewhere. Needless to say we won’t be returning, especially when our experience elsewhere was so outstanding.

This place seems to be a popular dining area for the folks at the naval base nearby. I suppose for a small town like Mechanicsburg, the quality is good enough there, but if you come from DC area or NYC, then you will be disappointed. They can get quite pack during dinner hours. All of their dishes started with Salad and Miso Soup. From the look of it, the salad was like veggie with baby vomit on top, but it actually tasted decent. The soup was quite skimpy though, did not have any tofu inside, just water and miso paste. First time I had their Sushi & Sashimi Combination, it was just ok. The fish was not very fresh even though it is a costal state, and it could be small town not able to afford to get fresh ones? The cooked dishes were just ok as well, since the tonkatsu I got one time was quite dried due to overcooked. I can see why the locals love Sapporo East, since they are probably one of few in town, and price was fair. The staffs were actually Chinese, and service was just ok. As a sushi lover, I would just rank them average at best.

Staff is super friendly. Service was quick and perfect because we brought our baby(in the carrier) with us. Sushi is yummmy and filling. My husband is not a sushi fan like I am but he likes this place b/c there’s other options to eat.

Great local sushi and Japanese food place. Friendly service, big menu and nice décor. The side salad is fantastic with a house made ginger dressing. The rolls are delicious and huge. Quality is very good for the reasonable price points. Our new place for our weekly sushi fix.

I used to love this place, but the fact is there’s better sushi in the area. It’s BYO, which is cool, but the rolls just don’t really impress me and they’re very sauce heavy. Also their tamago comes out of a package and I found this horrifying.
