I always solicit at least two quotes for major home repairs. West Shore Window & Door was my first quote. I called and set-up a home visit. The rep arrived on time and proceeded to spec out a window that met my requirements. No problem. Then I had to endure the heat lamp demonstration to prove the energy efficient of their glass. Yawn. Then we started talking about costs. I got a quote that was higher than I expected but hey… this was my first quote. I had made it very clear that I was soliciting multiple quotes but the rep was pushing for me to sign a contract on the spot. Here’s when things got completely ridiculous. When I explained yet again that I was not buying without receiving other quotes, the rep tried to call his manager. He started sweating profusely when his boss didn’t pick up and panic started to set in. He called a few minutes later and loudly treated me to a conversation with his boss about how I was impressed with the company but thought the price was too high. I never SAID the price was too high, I indicated that I wouldn’t buy without competitive quotes. All of a sudden, the rep came back with a lower quote if I would agree to place one of their signs in my lawn. Nothing ticks me off like a company that believes their potential customers can be intimidated into making a purchase. I damn near had to throw the sweating rep out of my house. I believe that the company sells a good product and employs skilled installers. I just don’t understand why they feel the need to play games during the sale. Watching their current ‘telethon-style’ commercials has me chuckling. «Call now before the end of the program to receive special pricing!» And just for reference, my second quote company did almost the same deal minus the call to the boss. Instead, the rep left in a huff when I wouldn’t sigh a contract on the spot. Edit — Matt H., there was no confusion. I asked for a quote, got a quote, and immediately got a lower quote when I wouldn’t sign a contract. That tells me that the original quote was an attempt to get me to overpay. That tactic may work with other potential customers but not me. I send out sealed bid RFQ’s most days as part of my job. If you want my business, give me a competitive quote. And I find it a little creepy that you went back through your records in an attempt to identify me.

Well, my wife and I have to agree with the lesser ratings for this company. We were interested in replacing our windows in our home with a better quality window that would last longer than we will. With the media blitz that they do in our area, my wife figured this company would be a great opportunity. Not so much. Like other’s who have responded, the salesman came to our house, was extremely cordial and we liked him, but after 3 hours and the standard hard sell call to his manager and the letter from the owner taking a whopping 10% off of the PLASTIC windows. I thought he did a good job, right up to the fact that never was an individual price quoted per window(until I asked) and then the hard sell… Our 7 windows would cost us $ 8+K. Think about this for a bit. $ 1200.00 per window… While the service and warranty sound nice, they do not warrant doubling the price of a window. High end windows cost around $ 600 at most. The installation would NEVER cost $ 600 each to install. I work in the industry, but I have limited time to work on my own things… Needless to say we did not bite on this deal, there are better deals out there. Also, this company is not as small as we were lead to believe, it is in many more areas than just our area… Look up this company with no address… and then decide if you want to spend your hard earned cash.
