1 Tailor

I have no complaints about this place. I walked in with a pair of khakis looking for a hem and taper. I was in and out of the store in 10 minutes during my lunch break and I came back the next day at the same time to pick it up. Pants fit better than before and stitching was fine from what I could tell. It was $ 30 for the hem and taper which is kind of pricey but I guess that’s normal. I’ll be back with more clothes because of their convenient location and the quick turnover.
Also, it’s cash only.

I went here for the first time when I was on my Family Medicine rotation in Mechanicsville, coming here during my lunch break to get my dress shirt fixed (a button fell off). Since then, I have been back three times, each time with phenomenal service.
The middle-​aged Korean couple that runs this shop are super sweet. They are extremely polite and very friendly despite limited English fluency. Their prices are very reasonable, and often, they can provide same-​day service. I saw so many other patrons come here with random problems/​requests, and the people at #1 Tailor were able to fix them all.
On my most recent visit, I came in for a yet another simple shirt button fix, and the owner chatted with me. He was flattered that I drove all the way from Shockoe Bottom to his store, but I told him it’s because they do such excellent work! He said he would press my shirt for me in return for «full service.»
In the end, he didn’t even charge me for the shirt! What a sweet man!
Every customer walks out of this store with a smile. If you have tailoring needs, definitely come here!
