The food is fresh and delicious. A great variety of different styles. The owner and staff are very friendly and efficient.

What a treat in the hinterlands of Mechanicsville! In town to visit family, I looked up sushi on Unilocal and was shocked to find Bell Hut. You might drive by and not even know what a gem awaited you in the strip mall just off of Pole Green Rd.
The service was top notch, and whenever we needed anything, the waiter returned quickly with exactly what was requested. He was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions, and we also used the check-​in for a free appetizer.
Mom and ordered house salads with ginger dressing (yummy and fresh) and shared two rolls, including the Angry Black Dragon, which wasn’t spicy as you might imagine. (Okay I was imagining). The roll was beautifully presented with black tobiko and very tasty. The other roll was the Dancing Salmon, which was supposed to be spicy I think, but I was glad it wasn’t (Mom can’t handle too much.) I just asked for a side of Sriracha and all was good. The fish was very fresh on the dancing salmon, and the eel was just to my liking on the angry black dragon. I would like to try other more spicy rolls next time, and maybe the Rainbow roll or Yellowtail Scallion roll. The dancing salmon was good, but it had crunch in it, which I’m not sure I saw listed in the ingredients.
The shrimp shumai (steamed) was so good we got 4 orders. The kids got shrimp tempura rolls and loved them so much that they wanted more (at $ 8 each we decided it was a bit steep). The only thing I can say that wasn’t ideal for me was the pricing of the smaller rolls. I understand $ 12 for special rolls, but the smaller rolls seemed kind of pricey (6.5 to 9) and the lunch special seemed high as well for what was included. It was almost worth it since the kids loved it so much.
That being said, we will be back, but maybe for dinner. It was a little steep for lunch.

Great food. Nice to have a quality sushi restaurant so close. Only had takeout, can’t speak to the service but recommend the food highly.

Amazing sushi and one of the best around. Highly recommended this place to everyone. The taste is amazing and if your in the area this should be a stop on your list for some great sushi.

I had just given Bell Hut a good review a few days prior to tonight. We just left there. We were sat right away, then it took about 10 minutes to be greeted, we ate and when we were paying, we were told we needed to leave because they had another party that needed to be sat at our table. Who tells their patrons that?! But the rudest part was as I was putting on my jacket, the servers literally pushed me out of the way to clean the table. I’ve NEVER experienced that rude of service before. We pretty much got kicked out of the restaurant after we had paid.
Last time we were there, they made another table move mid-​meal so they could seat us at that table.
They just don’t have customer service qualities. We loved Bell Hut before tonight but we probably won’t be back. Bad customer service will kill a business. It definitely did it for us.

Special tonight: Rock & Roll Sushi Roll. Good enough as I was just hankering for sushi and the first place I stopped at was a few miles down but had no sushi bar. Eating alone at a table bothers me so with a bar here at Bell Hut I stayed. My Seaweed Salad was standard but good. The service was very attentive and overall a solid 4 star Unilocal experience.

The food was very good. We had spring rolls to start which were excellent, crispy and full of flavor. The sushi was good the only complaint is the avocado topping was warm. Service was fair, slow on the clearing of the plates. But that is a pet peeve of mine. All in all I will visit again

Great place for sushi, hibachi, Chinese, and Thai. Very polite staff. Fresh sashimi! Great, quiet atmosphere. Very enjoyable experience.

Spicy Girl Roll was delish!

I have visited Bell Hut several times and each time the food and service is outstanding. The flavor profile of the food is creative, consistent and prepared with care. You can see from the cleanliness of the dining room and friendliness of the staff that a lot of time and effort is placed to ensure a great experience.
I applaud the owners and staff who have an obvious passion for food. So happy they are so close to my house! Great job.

Mediocre sushi that is priced way higher than the quality. I don’t expect much from Mechanicsville sushi, so I will probably go back at some point since it’s convenient. I just hope they improve their value if they continue to charge these prices.

My wife and I had date night and thought we would check this place out cause of the great reviews. So happy we did! This place was great. Food was great, décor was great, and the staff were amazing. We had a wonderful experience and will be going back. They had brown rice for the sushi and the pepper tuna was like eating art.

Best sushi place around! The staff were super friendly and the service was quick. We went for lunch and they have a ton of great lunch specials but we decided to get shrimp tempura and edamame apps, and the spicy girl, Godzilla, and shrimp tempura rolls. Loved the apps and the spicy girl and shrimp tempura roll. The Godzilla roll was okay but I don’t know if I would get it again. Definitely coming here soon though!

Absolutely delicious!!! A hidden treat in Mechanicsville! I had no idea they served sushi! The Drunken Roll was excellent. The staff is gracious. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

Will wonders never cease? Nestled within the tiresome strip mall on Bell Creek road lays a quaint little place called Bell Hut. The name is rather bromidic but the thankfully the cuisine is not. I’ll be honest. I did not want to try this place. I found it using the Unilocal app and noticed it had a perfect 5 start rating but only 7 reviews. Yesterday was a Monday and our «go to» place for Pad Thai was closed. Our options were limited and we were not in the mood to be disappointed. Despite my objections my girlfriend forced us inside anyway.
It’s a cozy little spot to be sure. Dinner for two or a party of four will work the best. My girlfriend and I put them to the test immediately ordering Thai tea and two of their soups. I played it safe and ordered Miso and Shan went for broke and got the Thai coconut soup with chicken.
After just one taste we knew this place was going to be a winner. They didn’t cut corners and I appreciate that. My miso soup was loaded with tofu and seaweed. Both soups were a symphony of flavor. I’ve never had Thai coconut soup, after trying this one; the bar is now set incredibly high. The entrées came next, Singapore noodles for me and beef Pad Thai for the lady.
It’s hard to put into words how we felt about the dishes. Our expectations were very guarded. It was like watching the season finale of a TV show. You might get complete garbage like Dexter, HIMYM, and the X-​Files… *OR* you could get something wonderfully satisfying like the finale of Breaking Bad or Mad Men.
I’m pleased to say the food was wonderfully satisfying. The Pad Thai had a wonderful depth of flavor. My Singapore noodles weren’t dry and over seasoned like «that other place» it could not have been more satisfying. We both breathed a sigh of relief. Bell Hut is a sleeper that delivered a much needed WIN to Mechanicsville. We can’t thank you enough.

Amazing. The food was delicious and the presentation was outstanding. I had thai coconut chicken soup and the butterfly effect roll. My husband ordered 4 other rolls and enjoyed them all. In addition to the food, the service was great. We met the family who owns the establishment and they could not have been any nicer. Check this place out!

Must try the Indian pancakes. The sauce is phenomenal.
As for sushi, the Spider-​Man and the Chirashi does not disappoint.
Great service and the Thai Iced tea is refreshingly cool.

Mechanicsville now has an authentic Sushi restaurant. The sushi is beautiful and delicious.
