Sonny’s BBQ Pit

I’ve passed by many times and never have it a shot. Boy, am I glad I finally gave it a chance. Great place, loved the sides and service. Their ribs and sauce were excellent. Our group of five got a wide variety of food and all came away impressed.

If you are looking for good BBQ then look no further. In my travels in St. Mary’s County I’ve stumbled across a diamond in the rough. The customer service is second to none and the bbq ribs are tender and delicious. The ribs are smoked and not only do you see the smoke rubs but it’s evident in every delectable bite. They serve the «homemade bbq sauce»…yes, homemade on the side but, honestly I could just have IT on a slice of bread… yep, it’s that good. This was my first visit but it certainly will NOT be my last! They offer whole and half slab ribs and whole and half chickens available for the carnivore in you. They also have available sandwiches. Did I mention that they have minced bbq? It’s so good that they were sold out on the second business day! It’s cooked low and slow so you know it has to be good! They offer family specials and dinner specials and with the dinner specials you can choose two side but, the meal includes sweet potatoes… yummy. Sides include baked beans, cabbage, coleslaw, collard greens, green beans, potato salad and the of course sweet potatoes. This is a family owned business and they are keeping the legacy of the patriarch alive and I am certain that he is watching over them with proudly and with a smile. So if you are in the mood for some good down home cooking and awesome hospitality stop by Sonny’s BBQ Pit you will not be disappointed!
As you drive down Thompson Creek Road look for the red and white sign. You will see the back of the building but, just drive around and you will find a smile at the service window.
