Went the other night for ribs. They didn’t have ribs or brisket. That was the second time that has happened. It’s like gojng to Chinese and them not having pupu platers. Service was very slow. I waited 8 minutes for corn bread. Yes I timed it to amuse myself. Beans couldn’t have been colder. Won’t go back again.

We thought we would give this restaurant a try. We ordered ½ rack of ribs which was dry and had almost no taste to it. The coleslaw was totally bland. The baked beans were okay. The cornbread would have nice if it had been warmed. We were given two pieces which were quite cold and didn’t taste that great. The shepherds pie was okay, nothing to write home about. The speaker above our head was a base speaker so often we couldn’t tell what song was being played. For a place with the name it has, the speakers could have been better and the food was a «C-» We won’t be back.

If you want great bbq you have to give this place a try. The best deal and best tasting sandwich is the burnt ends, giant sandwich overflowing with tasty brisket. The menu is full of great stuff from pulled pork to racks of ribs. There’s a full bar and it’s a great place to watch the pats. I would 100% recommend rock n roll rob joint to everyone.

Hands down, this is the worst BBQ joint that I’ve ever been to. First of all, on the menu it stated that we would be getting steak fries with our meal. Out comes shoe string fries the size of toothpicks which clearly come out of a frozen bag. Where were the steak fries? My pulled pork sandwich was not even luke warm… cold. Like it had been sitting out for a good hour. Soooo disappointed and will not be back.

Tried again with friends who had not been yet, and was hoping for improvement, but it just wasn’t good. The waitress was friendly, and that’s about all I can say that is positive. The sliders were cold and the brisket was dry and flavorless.

Terrible BBQ and then some. We went the evening after Medfield Day where the restaurant had a stand and handed out a coupon. First we ordered an ice tea and a beer. The waitress came back and said they were out of ice tea… How are you out of something like ice tea?! Then we ordered the pulled pork burrito and the BBQ chicken plate. The waitress said the burrito is served cold and it’s more like a wrap. That’s weird, but we appreciated the tip and ordered the pulled pork sandwich instead. After some time the waitress came back and said they were out of sandwich buns. Seriously? She said the sandwich would be served on two slider buns instead. Ok fine. When the food finally came, it was such a disappointment. The chicken was supposed to be legs and thighs(which we prefer) but it was missing legs and came with very dry, overcooked breast meat instead. They didn’t notify us of the substitution. The dark meat was also overcooked to the point that it was hard and basically like jerky. The beans and slaw were bland and barely edible. I agree with another review that Bush’s beans would have been a million times better. As for the pulled pork sliders, they were completely dry(no sauce), hardly«pulled» and skimpy. The only half decent thing were the fries which were probably frozen and thankfully made by someone else. On the non-food side, this restaurant needs to get its act together. You can’t tell who works there because they weren’t in any sort of uniform and the one person who had on a restaurant shirt, cut it up and looked sloppy. The atmosphere also needs to be livelier and more welcoming. The only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is because the waitress was at least pleasant and we didn’t get food poisoning. However, we will not be going back and I don’t recommend it either.

We had high hopes for this place. The corn bread was decent. The soundtrack was great. The appetizer(fried pickles) were hot and fresh. The homemade barbecue sauce was tasty. The main course was very disappointing. I had sliders, and they were cold. The baked beans were ok, the coleslaw was very bland. Probably not going back.

Had lunch at the Joint today. Had the pulled pork with three new sauces: A mustard sauce, a Korean sauce and a root beer sauce too. Delicious! Usually, I have the BBQ egg roll and grilled cheese cheeseburger but I’m glad I changed it up. I think the pulled pork is my new favorite. I sat at the bar and the guy sitting next to me was taking a break from re-building a small sailboat. He was raving about his sandwich and enjoying his beer. I’m headed back tonight to hear some live music. My two cents.

Where do I begin? I’ve never seen such a sad state of affairs in a food service establishment in all my days. The owner of this«joint» is extremely deluded in thinking that what he’s serving is actually desirable or even palletable for any human with taste buds and an appetite. The first thing I was served was a fountain Coca-Cola. It tasted like the syrup lines had been corroded with battery acid, but it wasn’t the worst I’ve had. Little did I know, that would be the tastiest thing I’d get. Next, what was put in front of me resembled corn bread in looks alone. Upon sampling a bit of the cold pasty glob, I imagined it’s what elementary school paste might have been like, had I ever indulged. Then, out came their signature dish, a half-rack of ribs with beans and coleslaw. Bush’s Boston Recipe straight from the can would’ve been 20,000 times better than the beans in front of me. YUCK! The slaw was just chopped cabbage with a hint of mayo. BLAH! Finally, the ribs… They might have been okay if they were cooked for less than 2 days, or at least not more than 4 hours, but they were so far overcooked that not even the tiniest sliver of meat would remain on the bones. The meat instantly turned to mush in one bite. If you lose your dentures, have no fear, come here for meat mush. Or better yet, stay home and eat Quaker Oats. Tastier for sure. Needless to say, I left the«food» on the bar and walked away. I won’t be going back until this place changes hands again.

Love the idea. We need a place like this in Dedfield. It’s s little piece of Brooklyn in a Boston suburb. I love it and the people that work there. Have to say though the food was really bland. I ordered the BBQ egg roll. Was a great idea but bland. Then ordered the ½ ribs, bland. Needed salt. The rib burrito was prolly the best tasting. The sausage with peppers good, my husband liked it enough. The Mac n cheese had no cheese sauce on it. I kept wondering why they called it Mac n cheese cuz there was almost no cheese on it. Coleslaw was fresh but not enough dressing, again bland. Baked beans were remarkably fresh but bland. French fries were great but when I got home with food they were cold. Had to heat them up. I’m looking forward to ordering again. I hope they can find a way to put their personality into the food. I want to see this place succeed. Looking forward to hearing the bands sometime.

Stopped in for the first time two weeks ago, I had been looking forward to this since I read about it in the local paper back in February but was disappointed. You’re going to pay top BBQ dollar for a meager portion — 26 bucks for takeout: 4.5 slices of brisket($ 13) and a small pulled pork burrito(some pieces of the pork were warm, some were cold). When I opened the box of brisket I had two thoughts — 1. Oh my is this all? 2. I think they forgot our side of baked beans. In an odd twist of fate it wasn’t the beans that were omitted but the BBQ sauce — so understand this means the side of baked beans is so tiny they squeeze it into one of those little plastic cups generally reserved for sauces, and that we had to consult our fridge to add sauce to the meat! How can you forget the sauce?! I’m resonating with these previous reviews — I want this place to work because good BBQ is scarce in metrowest… please consider this constructive criticism. Will try again in a few months to see if anything’s changed, if anything deserves a second chance it’s sweet, sweet barbecue.

Please get better with your food! I really want you to have good food but you do not. I’ve been two times. First time was for an early lunch and they were pretty much out of everything, except pulled pork and ribs. The ribs were rubbery and not smoked, almost looked like a microwave cooking job. The pulled pork was eh, too much bland sauce Went for dinner and again had disappointing ribs and chicken. Please do a show and tell on how you prepare your meat. Do you smoke it on site or it is from the Restaurant Depot in Needham and quickly microwaved. Clean, nice place with polite staff but this my friend is not barbecue. I’m not going back until I know how the food is cooked.

Went twice just to give it the benefit of the doubt. But honestly doesn’t even come close to good BBQ. The sauce is below average, brisket might as well been used to make shoes it was so tough and don’t get me started on the cornbread! It’s a shame to call this BBQ when they don’t even marinade anything. Being from the south I was really hoping for a serious BBQ place in town and couldn’t of been anymore let down!

Really hoping they iron out the issues as having a good BBQ joint in Medfield would be great. Unfortunately I have to repeat the previous reviews. The ONE word you don’t associate with a BBQ joint is bland but that’s the exact best word for this place. Everything from the meats we tried to the watery beans and the coleslaw was flat on flavor. We had the brisket, chicken, pulled pork and the wings all of which were a bit dry, adding a good amount bbq sauce from the table helped with the lack of flavor. The brisket says it’s a 12 hour slow cook and it was accurately soft with a nice texture however again quite lacking in the flavor department. Along with fixing the taste issue I can see some menu tweaks needed around pricing. The price of the bbq was on par with expectations for the most part however other things were oddly aligned. For example the mac and cheese side is super tiny. For only a dollar more you can order the kids option which we were told was noticeably larger while the fried pickles appetizer was $ 8. One saving grace however was the hamburger slider that came with our sons meal. It was juicy and full of flavor. The fries were good and the beer selection decent. The service was friendly and readily available. It’s only been two weeks so I’m hopeful they will sort out these kinks!

We all want this place to succeed! We need a place like this in the area. I dont think they are too far off, the menu is great, as are the sides. And the bbq meats are good, good portions, tasty, good cuts. However, the bbq sauce and dry rub are just awful. Wayyyy too spicy, we couldnt get our kids to even eat a second bite. We ended up putting our own jar sauce on the food. It’s not Tex-Mex, it should not be so spicy one cant eat it. If they just would make that one adjustment I think they would be in good shape. We’ve been twice, and will give it one more try in a month.

I really really want this place to make it! Alas, it wasn’t that good. We sat in silence for at least 20 minutes before we asked the waitress where the rock n roll was — the music wasn’t on and not one employee noticed. Not a good sign when their whole vibe is supposed to be rocking. The food wasn’t that great — not a lot of flavor — which is too bad. My husband said his ribs had decent flavor but the quality of the meat was very poor. Hope they get their act together so that we don’t have to drive far for BBQ.

Two and a half stars for the portion size. Ordered Nachos quick turn around but they were supposed to come with Guacamole and Sour cream. Did not come out as advertised needs more cheese and maybe offer jalapenos. It appears that the portions for the main dish has improved I had the Pork Burrito and it was stuffed. but the sides have not changed at all. Mac and cheese dry and not thoroughly warmed up. The Slaw was just bland same for baked beans. My son had the pulled pork sandwich again very large portion but the fries were not very hot. My wife had 1⁄3 rack of ribs they were good… more heat than smoke though. Not sure they were smoked at all. They need HELP with there sides. Like the other reviews I hope it makes it.

Like another reviewer, I would love for this place to succeed. I drive an hour for good bbq. I can envision a line out the door, seating density and music volume that approaches obnoxious, and food that makes you dream about it days later and makes you want to come back. This is a live review, as it happens. We walked in about 20 minutes ago and so far we have one whisky and three waters(and a promised order of fried pickles) to show for it. Three or four parties seem to have walked in within a short time. Ok so the lone waitress got slammed suddenly. Still, it took a while for anyone to come see us. And surprise — 30 min in and we’ve just been informed that they’re out of the special, burnt ends sandwich. Really? It took 30 min and it’s only 6:00. Dinner rush hasn’t even started yet. So I’m guessing only one cook who is working sequentially and doesn’t look at the incoming orders before they’re assembled. While we wait. We’re looking around the place. We used to come here when it was From Scratch, a breakfast place that was decent and — because we’re big breakfast people — we hoped would succeed as well. This place seems to suffer from the same interior issue that From Scratch had, the use of space is head-scratching. The area behind the bar is HUGE! The tables, while perfectly separated enough for a nice brunch with grandma, is another waste of space. As a business owner, I would have put a few more tables in here. Rock & Roll, remember? This isn’t about comfort. Hopefully it’s about music, attitude, and a$$-kicking food! The pickles are here. They’re ok. Tempura batter makes them look bigger than they are. About 10 in this basket. Good flavor. As another reviewer noted, we have to ask for plates for the shared appetizer. So this is «Rock ~n~ Roll Rib Joint». Aside from the 44 LPs on the wall, there’s not much Rock n Roll about the place. It’s too nice, too safe, too suburban. Music is too soft, the décor doesn’t say R&R. Everything in this place is beautiful, new, nice. Too nice. The bartender is the only thing that says«Rock & Roll» in this joint — she reminds me of Pat Benatar — in a good way. I must say, throughout this so-far-disappointing-experience, the single waitress — who is the only front of the house presence handling 8 tables and 30-some customers, is doing her damnedest to please us. I can forgive the fact that she was perfunctory. Kudos to her. The food is here. Almost an hour since we walked in. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Disappointing. Tender, but so little meat in the bun. Usually it’s piled on. Not this time. I taste no smoke at all. I tried putting the one tomato-based sauce they provide and it helps, but pulled pork should stand on its own, right? And where’s the vinegar sauce? The rest of the food: fries were ok. Decent portion. Cole slaw was good. Good portion but nothing to write home about. The menu says it has wasabi, but they need to kick that up. Good idea, but like the décor, not quite there. The mac & cheese was«tasty but dry» My daughter’s take on the pulled pork burrito: «It was ok, uninspired. I want Chipotle now» No offer of dessert. «Here’s the check. Take your time» All in all, I would still love this place to work. The waitress tells us there are still some issues(eg running out of the special) while they«get their feet under» them. But I’m afraid this place needs some pretty big tweaks to work it all out. I wish I could give them a three as a new place, but if they haven’t figured it out by now, this place is a solid 2. Total bill for 3 — $ 60 before the tip. Only one of us ordered alcohol. I’ll come back if I start reading better reviews, but for now, Tennessee’s in Natick, Clyde’s in Walpole, Commonwealth BBQ in Wrentham, or Blue Ribbon in W Newton are much better bets.
