Our son and his friends absolutely love their chicken and cheese steaks! Delicious. The rolls are a little different with the seeds but all is good. Quick and easy to pick up as well.

Not your traditional cheesesteak. This is served on a poppy seed Kaiser roll, with extra spices. A great break from the usual Philly cheesesteak!

Very good cheesesteak. The rolls they serve them on make them the jersey style steak as opposed to philly. Worthy of a trip to Medford if you’re on the turnpike or 295 or anywhere in the philly area

What a great gem hidden in Medford. Very basic menu which includes cheesesteak/chicken cheesesteak, thicken fingers, fries and panzerotti. The limited menu allows Donkey’s to do their food well. The cheesesteak is not the traditional Philly style, but rather it is done on a poppy seed kaiser roll. The rolls are fresh and the steak and chicken meats are fresh. The best way to enjoy these sandwiches is with onions. The fries are seasoned and delicious and the staff is extremely friendly. For a bit of a throwback, they offer glass bottled sodas. The inside is not overly big, so if stopping by on lunch you may find it to be a bit crowded, be prepared to get your food to go instead.

I went in today to Donkey’s in Medford for lunch with my child whom has severe food allergies. I did a little recon and discovered that the bread is made at a popular bakery in the area. Erring as I always do on the side of caution, I brought our own 100% allergy safe rolls. We were treated so warmly by the gentleman(one of the owners) behind the counter(he even gave my daughter a couple of roses as is apparently a Sunday tradition at this establishment.) When I explained our allergy situation, he was so eager to provide any and all info including ingredients on every menu item, as well as his insistence of making our cheesesteaks on our safe store bought bread! Trust me that accommodation is unheard of! Now the food — the cheesesteaks were DELICIOUS! Meaty, cheesy and satisfying! We even ordered extra sautéed onions! The sides were equally awesome — beer battered onion rings and funnel cake fries(yes you heard me right! Funnel cake fries!) So tasty and unique. All in all a great place for family and friends! What are you waiting for? This Third generation landmark place is seemingly always busy, but it’s not too late to join in on the fun!

As many have said, not a Philly cheesesteak but one of the best cheesesteaks around. Highly addictive.

Been meaning to review this place, we wound up here on a fluke on a return trip that put us nearby. Unilocal and the memory of Anthony Bourdain in Camden’s Donkeys Place got us to take the trip and it was well worth it. The cheese steaks were excellent, no gristle, flavorful; tasty poppy seed rolls, perfect onions, TASTY. We liked the sides too. Perfect onion rings and fries. Try the pepper ‘relish’ on your sandwich — YUM. Not the place to go for a salad! None on the menu I’m guessing! But for sure a good cheesesteak and fries… And get the onion rings too! You mustn’t miss them. Will go again… Def.

Wow. Bread soaked the wiz without becoming soggy. Meet was perfectly chewable. The fries were crispy and tasty with sriracha and ketchup on every table. I can not wait to go back!!!

Long Camden patron like 40 years and stopped by to give a house guest a taste of a different type of Cheesesteak. Poppy seed kaiser roll and special seasoning with Sautéed onion didn’t disappoint. The staff is extremely welcoming. Take a shot for a different taste.

Imagine my surprise after having now lived on the West Coast for 10+ years when I came home this Christmas and found one of the best cheese steaks I’ve had just minutes from my home growing up. The Kaiser bun threw me off a little as I’ve only had traditional cheese steaks growing up but it was amazing. Great taste, just the right amount of gooey, melting, messiness and some unexpected sides to top. Also very friendly and polite staff. Now I have a another new reason to look forward to coming home for the Holidays! Keep up the good work.

My girl and I stopped in and got a chicken cheesesteak and a regular one(respectively), along with an order of seasoned fries. They were terrific, and that seems to be the case whether you’re new to the world of cheesesteaks or if you’ve tasted a wide variety. The place is small and you have to wait a bit after you’ve ordered, but it’s no sweat — this is a cheap(in a good way!), blue collar place to grab non-pretentious food. P. S. to the blonde girl behind the counter: I overheard you asking someone about shaving part of your hair. My girlfriend and I agree: DON’T. You look great, as is!

I saw this on Anthony Bourdain’s tv when he visited South Jersey. Cheesesteaks? I’m there! The sandwiches were delicious, even on the poppy seed Kaiser roll. My husband and I shared the fries, Went to this location in Medford. Easy to get to, but very limited parking. This place was delicious! They also have a rewards card for your purchases — make sure to ask for one. Definitely give them a chance.

I was down this way for work and had heard of Donkey’s so I thought, what the hell. I am glad I did! This place is small and next to a bodega type place and easy to miss so pay attention. It’s small inside with a handful of tables, but they do take out which seemed to be the choice of most patrons. I love cheesesteaks, growing up in the Philly area I have eaten my share. But I have never had one on a kaiser roll. But DAMN this one was good! I got wiz wit of course because I feel there’s no other way. The steak, onion, cheese and roll all jived perfect. It was delicious. I could have easily eaten 2. I also got a small fry and I couldn’t finish them there were so many. Also seasoned perfectly. They have sriracha table side so I love that. The employees were all very friendly. Definitely a great small hole in the wall place to try a great take on the classic cheesesteak!

Hottie Esq and I came here for an early lunch and it was a good thing we did because we needed the entire day to burn off the insane calories we consumed. Please note — those calories were well worth it. I had a very different vision of what this cheesesteak would be like and I was all wrong. Kudos to him for not giving me any details prior. Poppy seed Kaiser roll, sautéed onions that marvel what you would find in an excellent French onion soup, and velvety American cheese. I believe that you can ask for Whiz, but the American cheese is where it’s at! They have a side of hot peppers that you can add to your sandwich also. I hesitated doing this because I feared ruining it, but it added an amazing layer of flavor. The seasoned fries were fantastic, with just the right amount of crunch and softness. We said we’d only try a few but who were we kidding? We finished those bad-boys off in 10 minutes. And I was able to get a bottle of diet root beer there. Friggen sodatastic! We saw a lot of to-go orders going on while we were slowly slipping into our blissful food coma. The employees were super cool and friendly as all get-out. This place makes me never want to eat another salad again.

Was pretty impressed with our first trip here. We read good things online and they definitely held up. The girl at the counter was very sweet and accommodating. The food is great and isn’t too expensive. We were a little bummed they didn’t have any funnel cake fries to try but were happy overall with our visit. We even brought cheesesteaks home for family! Love that they give out roses to their female customers on Sundays. Such a nice little perk!

If you grew up in Camden you’ve been to donkey’s and you know and love it well. No this is not a Philly cheesesteak its a Camden cheesesteak First they come on a poppy seed kaiser roll. If that is an issue then don’t even bother. For me their onions are the best and make the sandwich they are a sweet onion some may feel they are over sautéed but I love them The meat may not be the largest amount but it is very high quality no fat no gristle no veins it is tender and melts in your mouth The fries are crinkle cut always hot and delicious This place is a part of the Camden legacy and well worth checking out and enjoying

The cheesesteaks are glorious. The fries are about perfect. Get a little side of chili oil to dip them in. And there is always a pinball to play while you’re waiting for your steak. Its the best place ever.

Heard about Donkey’s for years; never go around to giving it a try. Place is a nondescript store-front sandwich shop in a small strip mall. Went there lunch time to get their famous cheese steak. Actually very very good. Got fried onions and American cheese(their default cheese). Disappointingly, mushrooms were not an option. Clean enough — plenty of seating. Staff was friendly — food didn’t take long to arrive. The steak sandwich comes on a nice poppy seed kaiser roll — much nicer than the typical Philly roll. Onions were nicely caramelized. Had half of the sandwich with the complimentary hot pepper relish and the other with the hot roasted peppers. Not sure which way was my favorite. Now I know why people give Donkey’s high marks.
