Typical bowling alley, fun arcade games, we were expecting cosmic bowling last night because it said every Friday night… Didn’t start til 1030. We were there at 7 with our kids. Decent food.

Lava Lanes is the largest bowling alley I have ever been to. They have a lot of lanes, a big arcade room, a completely separate and large bar area with food, pool tables, tv’s and more. They have a full bar, including beer, wine and cocktails. They have a full menu, including breakfast items, as well as other snacks and appetizers. The place is clean, it’s non-smoking and the equipment works well. The lanes are all computerized/digital so no need to keep your own score. The one complaint is that the lanes were actually pretty sticky. The league bowlers in my group were unhappy with the lack of «slide» available. They don’t sell powder there either, citing a liability concern. Despite the sticky lanes, we had a good time, the service provided both up front and in the bar was friendly and responsive. The price is reasonable. It does get very busy, so be aware of that. They also have the gutter-guards for less-accomplished bowlers, and the ball ramps for those who are physically unable to actually«roll» the bowling ball. These are great options! The bathrooms were clean, in good working order and had warm water. All nice things! Overall, a great place to spend a couple hours with friends on a gray Sunday afternoon.

My brother, his girlfriend, and I all decided we wanted to get a drink on friday night. We sat around and debated where to go before settling on Lava Lanes simply because it’s within walking distance so we could all have a couple and get home safe. We got there and I was shocked at how cool it was. The bar was considerably large and had lots of seats. Also tons of tables and booths. The vibe was relaxing and fun. As soon as we walked in, Metallica(a personal fave) was playing and the first bartender we ordered from was very nice and had a good sense of humor. I ended up getting a watermelon AMF($ 7), a cherry coke(the cherry moonshine is delicious, $ 5), and a Tokyo tea($ 7). All drinks were affordable and were NOT skimpy on the alcohol. As the night grew on the country music and rap began to frequent the jukebox but I was having such a good time I barely noticed. I will DEFINITELY be returning.

Tuesday and Thursdays is Dollar nights. Shoe Rentals are $ 2.99 but lanes are $ 1/per person/per game. Goes through the summer! I haven’t tried any food. But as far as bowling alleys go this one is… well a bowling alley :) Little expensive in my opinion on the non deal nights. But for $ 1/game I’ll take it!

We had a group of 10. They were so accommodating! Good price, good food, wonderful waitress. She did such a good job making all my crazy drinks like Scooby snacks and angry balls. We had a lot of fun for all the age groups we had. An 11 yr old mid 20s and 50s and grandparents in their 70s.

This is great place to go bowling with your family and play some arcade games. The food is decent as well. Unfortunately the personnel there are greatly lacking in social skills and communication. I waited a very long time at the counter while 3 employees chatted in the back. They saw me they just continued talking and once the conversation had finished a very curt blonde woman came and quickly proceeded to brush me off with no «thank you» or «have a nice day». This definitely needs addressing.

This place would not accept the bowl one free game coupon we had. This coupon was to support local schools. One free game, they would have been out $ 4. Maybe they don’t support local schools anymore? The service in the restaurant could be better. A lot of people working looking busy doing nothing. We were one of about three groups in the place at the time. Very slow service. January 12th, 2013

I have been living in Medford over a year now and this was my first time coming to Lava Lanes. Came here with a group of people I work with to have drinks and do Cosmic bowling. It was a Friday night and there was barely anyone here! The bar was nice, it was busy and there was karaōke. The atmosphere was nice and the people hanging out here were not all shady like the other bars in town. I gave this place 4 starts because there are no drinks allowed out in the bowling alley it is only allowed in the bar. The reason why there are no drinks allowed by the bowling alley is because people under 21 are allowed to bowl at night. This is understandable since there is not a lot for kids to do in this town late at night.

RATING: 3.5STARS I like this particular bowling alley. We’ve gone there several times with friends and family. The food is ok, I would definitely eat outside and then go here. Bowling here always goes great.

This was a surprisingly cute place. I’m not from the town, but just stopped in on a whim, surprisingly clean and efficient! They had a surprisingly clean arcade as well, with barely any people there so it was fun not to have to embarrass myself playing ddr.
