This restaurant was one that used to have consistent good service and quality food. I highly recommend you try Red Lobster or the Wharf for the money. We visited on a whim at my moms request who we had just picked up from the airport having flown in from east coast. She was tired and hungry — bad timing –bad idea — worst service ever. The food was cold — the meals should’ve been sent back, and when we mentioned it, the server never asked or offered. It was late lunch early dinner for us — the restaurant was not busy. To top it off — sadly, I wore my sunglasses on my head and sat them in the seat beside me. I realized I left them after stopping at the restroom on the way out. Went back to the table and the table was partially cleared. The tip that reflected the service and my sunglasses were missing. I felt a little bad about the tip — although it was decent and should’ve been nothing since it was obvious she took my Maui Jim sunglasses in trade(that I paid too much for). The manager made us wait for well over 10 minutes while he supposedly checked with other staff members and ‘looked for them’ while my poor tired mom was waiting also. He ended up brushing it off and saying the waitress had left for the day and he or she would contact me later. I’m sure there was more to that story and of course I never heard back from anyone. Very good example of bad customer service. My family and I won’t be back. Zero stars but the rating system required me to pick one to post this… Moral of the story –if you chose to eat at McGraths and you happen to see a grumpy blonde waitress — tell her to cheer up –she lifted some nice Maui Jims that should cover the cost of her monthly car payment. If not, then the pawn shop screwed her!

This restaurant is HUGE and popular. Even so the wait time is reasonable and the service is pretty quick and attentive at meal times. I tried the Halibut & Cod Combo and preferred the Halibut — which I will definitely order again. They have malt vinegar to go with that!

McGrath’s has consistently good food in large portions. My only complaint is the varying degrees of freshness of the shrimp. Avoid the shrimp, and enjoy some of the best land locked seafood around.

We went with a small group for dinner. Service was excellent. Ahi tuna was wonderful. Highly recommended.

The food is consistently good, the service is always friendly, and the prices are very reasonable for seafood. One of my favorites in town.

Pros: Free meal for Veterans on Veterans Day!, decent prices, great hostess staff, easy parking, excellent cocktails, yummy baked potatoes, bread, and clam chowder and pleasant atmosphere. Cons: Service was friendly and nice, but not efficient, organized or good. Food was 2 stars. Shrimp and crab dumplings were greasy, soggy and served luke warm. Salad looked like someone’s left overs because it was mixed all together and looked unappetizing and was missing cheese that it said it came with. Fish and chips served cold and soggy(1 star), scallops were inconsistently cooked. Some over cooked and some perfect. This is a big box franchise type of restaurant. There is no attention to quality of food, knowing how to cook food well and no attention to presentation of food and lack of well trained service/cooking staff.

Went there for my birthday. We had steak, crab, oysters, drinks etc. Food was great but the service was terrible. Marie was her name I believe. Very nice but brought the food and that was it. Never checked on us, never came back actually. We had to track her down for a to go box and then had to track her down again to get the check. When we left all the dishes from the evening where still on the table. All of them. Salad plates everything. She was nice but not a good waitress.

Heard several people say that this is the place to get some good seafood. The service was very good. I ordered the Admirals platter. Most of the items on the plate were good but, the crab was the worst I have ever had. It was pretty much tasteless and kind of rubbery. As if it was old. Crab may be out of season but, if you can’t come up with some descent crab, take it off of the menu.

Tasteless, substandard food. Over cooked veggies and rice pilaf that seemed left over from days before. We keep giving it a try about once a year and are continuesly disappointed.

our first overnight visit to medford after moving to the oregon coast and i checked the ‘net to see where would be a good place to eat. i decided on mcgrath’s. oh my. from beginning to end, and all through the meal everything was wonderful. the calamari appetizer was lightly breaded and delicious. our cole slaw was excellent — lightly sauced and very delicate tasting. hubby’s prawns/cod and chips were reallly reallly good and he rarely says that. my john q publick cheese burger with bacon was out out this world good. topping it off, we shared the trifecta — a combo dish with marionberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream, NY cheesecake w/strawberry topping and their tuxedo truffle mousse. we didn’t even try the warm bread served with whipped butter, we were so engaged in our own meals… excellent! our server, jake, was outstanding. answered our questions, refilled my diet pepsi more than a couple times, and was perfectly attentive.

We ate here while en route back to CA. What a pleasant surprise! It was practically empty on a Saturday afternoon, but the place is huge, so hard to tell the head count really. Every dish we ordered did not disappoint. We had: crab and artichoke dip to start(yum), oyster shooters(huge!), crab Louis salad with the house stew(again, did not disappoint), and the seared ahi tuna salad(great pairing of the fruit, nuts, and dressing alongside the chunky pieces of tuna). The wine selection was also decent and I really enjoyed the Pinot Noir by Underwood Cellars. All in all, I recommend this place whether you are a local or just passing through.

We’ve eaten here twice. So far we love it! Not sure why they have gotten such bad reviews? our first visit we ordered fish and chips, oysters, clams, clam chowder, and the salmon. Our meal was wonderful and Our waiter was on the ball. The second trip was in the bar. Not as friendly staff and it seemed to take forever for us to get our meal. We’ll be back for those fish and chips. Best I’ve had here in the valley.

This place used to be a fairly nice restaurant when it first opened but it has absolutely gone downhill. I asked for fries and a regular cheeseburger specifying that all I wanted was cheese raw onion mayonnaise ketchup mustard and lettuce. The waiter brought me a hamburger with nothing that I asked for on it. It had a huge pile of sautéed onions, no mayo no ketchup or mustard, an unnecessarily huge pile of limp, soggy iceburg lettuce… and I didn’t get the fries I ordered either. When we went the restaurant maybe had 4 other people in it but the service was sooooooooo slow. Mcgraths has turned into shit unfortunately. I will never go back.

This place has been in the valley for years, and it has been a long while since I have had dinner there. Went there last night with my family, and that will be the last time! We were all Highly disappointed and let down by the quality of food that had no taste, the staff that was not polite, and the service to our table was very poor! No refills on drinks — nor asked, rock hard bread — no more was served or offered either, and the fifteen dollar plates were more fit for a small child. I recommend other establishments instead! Visit at your own risk and use your own judgment.

We were seated for dinner, the place was not very busy. We had two servers, one in training. So I won’t get to much into the service, but it was poor. We ordered drinks, they brought mine, but forgot my ladies drink. Waiting 15 minutes, had to flag them down. We ordered at that same time, I ordered the steak and lobster with clam chowder. My lady ordered Pear, Blue Cheese & Walnut Salad with a cup of clam chowder. Waiting about 15 minutes, I flagged down our servers, to let them know we wanted our chowder before our meal. 5 minutes later our chowder arrives with bread. Chowder was, nothing compared to the Wharf in Medford, but ok. We finished the chowder, had to flag down the waitress for another beer and ask for some more bread. Another 20 minutes goes by and they bring our meals out to us. They brought my Sirloin Steak to my table, I thought it was odd that the lobster was not on the same plate. Oh well that must be the way they do it. The steak was a very poor cut of meat, tasty but like shoe leather. However, the baked potato was good, finished that and realized that we had been eating for 20 minutes and still no lobster. I was able to flag down the servers and ask about the lobster, the servers were not sure how that happened, but assured me that the lobster would be on it’s way. 5 minutes later, In it’s own tiny plate is a baby lobster tail, really should have let this little guy grow up. Anyway the tail was broiled and browned on top, sliced a piece and into my mouth it goes. I then find myself spitting it out as only the top was cooked, the meat below the shell level was raw. This tail could not have been broiled for more than a minute. Sat there for another 15 minutes and once again flagged down the servers for the bill. The one waitress asked how our meals were, my lady said her salad was wonderful. I said my steak was tough and pointed out that the lobster was raw, she looked in disbelief, so I flipped it over for her to she. She agreed and offered to get me another tail, however just wasn’t excited about lobster at that point and my lady was long done with dinner. They brought the bill and I was happy to see that they had not charged me for my meal, that was a nice touch considering I did not ask for that. Overall, I can understand having a bad cut of meat as they are a seafood restaurant. Serve a raw lobster tail when you specialize in sea food???

McGrath’s was always a huge favorite before I left the NW but with my new severe food allergy we were more than a bit scared. But the staff was AWESOME! They went above and beyond to make sure I didn’t get sick and the food was still as good as I remember. Good seafood at great prices. As always the side dishes were so so but all else was fresh, flavorful and cooked right! descent prices and so many choices! Can’t recommend them more!

The waitress was terrible. It took over 30 minutes to get a beer. She complained about how long she was working. After asking numerous times for no bread or gluten the salad arrived covered in croutons. The salads and soup arrived so late the entrees arrived 5 minutes later. The steak comes with a onion rings on it, again after requesting numerous times no bread. We told the waitress it was not what was ordered. She handled it poorly. Poor attitude. We spoke to the manager. He made nice. To top off the evening… a hair was under my fish. I didn’t see it until I was halfway through my dinner. I have never experienced such poor service, horrible handling of the situation. I requested the order to be comped. It was. However, our evening was ruined. I will not return. I would not recommend this restaurant. We left mad, hungry and extremely displeased.

Went out dinner and went to McGraths because it was convenient to the hotel. My husband ordered the appetizer of fried oysters and he said they were still cold I side. He said they tasted ok but the temperature was not good. I had the special which was a trout dish with rice. It was good and so was the rice. Steamed veggies were nothing special and was mostly cauliflower. We had a bowl of the clam chowder and it was ok. The bread was hot when it came to the table. We ordered a wedge salad and it was the most weird version I’ve ever seen. Basically there was no wedge… it was a chopped Iceburg salad with chopped egg and blue cheese. Definitely would not order it again. My husband ordered salmon and it was farmed raised. I would expect that a seafood restaurant would make the effort to get fresh salmon and not farm raised. We are in Oregon near the coast. Overall service was slow and a bit forgetful. Won’t go to this place again… the biscuits at Red Lobster are far better. We will try the Wharf the next time…
