Wonderful local event both for runners and the local community. It celebrates the pear orchards of southern Oregon, which cooperated by blooming this year in time for the festival. The weather was pretty cold for the event today. The runners were ok with it but it was a little tough for the spectators. My only complaint to the festival was that though they cannot control the weather, having tents with wam refreshments in the neighborhood, or at least encouraging local businesses to have some warm up space would have been nice. Those of us supporting the 10 mile runners had to hike pretty far around town to find space to get out of the wind and have warm drinks or food to sustain us. It was really nice to hear the name and hometown of each of the approximately 1400 finishers read aloud over the loudspeaker as they crossed the finish line.
