I used Blue Hydrangea for my wedding in December 2009. I had a pretty tight budget but still wanted to have beautiful, high-end looking arrangements and bouquets. Martha(the owner) worked with me to put together absolutely stunning bouquets for myself and my wedding party. And the center-pieces were simple, but had an elegance that was perfect for our New Year’s Eve wedding. I was really happy with the service — Martha delivered the flowers herself on the day of my wedding even during a snow storm in Boston traffic! Would definitely recommend Blue Hydrangea.

I attempted to order several arrangements of simple white carnations for an event at my school from this florist. After I gave her my specifications and told her that I needed this done in two days, I asked her to give me a quote. She said that she’d need to double-check prices, saying that she didn’t normally work with carnation and hinting that this would be pricey since it’s «near» Mother’s Day, and so would have to get back to me later in the day. I figured I’d hear the quote then make a decision. Around 7PM the next day I call her as a courtesy to let her know that since she never got back to me that I went with another florist. Well, she intially starts to spin some yarn about trying to get a hold of me earlier but being unable to for some unspecified reason.(She had my cell #, so not true– no missed calls.) Once she realizes that I wasn’t ordering with her, she starts trying to cuss me out over the phone. I was so stunned by her lack of professionalism that I just hung up. She then tried to call me back not once but three times after I didn’t answer the phone like a stalker ex-boyfriend. I really can’t believe trying to order a few flowers was such a drama. I really should have paid attention to the other Unilocal reviews.

My husband and I ordered flowers for his Uncle’s funeral. We ordered them the day before the wake and were assured that they would be delivered to the funeral home which is only a couple of streets away from the shop by 3pm, no problem. Around 7pm at the wake during a quiet spell, we walked around reading the synpathy messages on tue arrangements to realize ours was never delivered. We called Blue Hydrangea and were given a bit of the run-around from te person who answered the phone. She told us it was the answering service yet I recognized the woman’s voice as the person who took my order the day before. A while later we received a call from the store manager. She apologized saying they have a new computer order system and that there was a mess up on our order with the date. She said we would receive a refund of our $ 100 charge but that ahe would send an arrangement on them amd it would be there in the morning for the funeral. Unfortunately, that delivery never happened either. This was for a very close relative and we are so embarrased and disappointed that our flowers were not there. I would never use this florist again and would discourage all of our friends and family from using then as well. They couldnt have been more unprofessional. We are disgusted.

I had ordered sympathy flowers for a friend. I meet up with her threedays after the flowers were to be delivered only to find they had not been delivered. No notice to the receiver that there had been a delivery attempt and no contact with me saying they couldn’t deliver the flowers. I called and complained the flower were finally delivered three days later sometime after 6pm because my friend didn’t see them until the next morning. Horrible service, not professional, I will not use them again.

I’ve used this place once and had an awful experience. I called them because they are four blocks from a friend’s house whose parents died unexpectedly. Several days before the burial I called to have flowers delivered on that day, and spoke to the manager of the store directly so she’d understand the occassion and the times that delivery could happen. Since the residence we a couple hundred yards from the store, she assured me they would take care of everything. The flowers ended up not being delivered that day or the next day. They were dropped off at 8:30pm the next night, by someone who range the doorbell several times and woke up the young children who had just gone to bed. Based on this one experience they are unreliable even when the task at hand is simple and relatively important.
