I come here regularly because it’s in a convenient location. The service ranges from lukewarm to pretty good. My most recent visit they shorted me over $ 15 due in change from my purchase, which I didn’t realize until later. This actually happened to me at the Boston Common UPS store as well. Best doublecheck your change before leaving.

I love my local UPS delivery man to death but this store is garbage. The one person working has no idea what they’re doing and honestly had the demeanor that he could not possibly care any less about working there. He didn’t know the pricing of the envelopes and couldn’t give me a solid date on when the return would be back at the manufacturer. Also he wouldn’t let me pay in debit and made me pay cash, how tacky is that?

I saw all of the terrible reviews and had to take a moment to write my positive one.
I was greeted respectfully and processed very promptly and had no problems at all in the store today. I had called before I went to make sure he could assist me and he was courteous and fast to answer the phone. He seemed to care about his appearance professionally and had a pleasant demeanor. He gave my two little girls lollipops as soon as they walked in the door. Needless to say he won their hearts immediately.
Also, for what it’s worth I want to respond to someone saying that they were appalled that they had to pay for tape. If you go to the US post office, tape is not free there either unless you are shipping with an expedited method. I always see people pissed off there about the tape thing too. Nothing is free. I don’t want my service to be more expensive to help cover the cost of tape for other people.

This UPS sucks! My boyfriend stayed home from work in order to receive an expensive package. UPS never came by, and then said they had attempted delivery and no one was home! We then had to go to UPS to get the package, and literally had to wait there an hour and a half just to pick it up. No idea why. In the past my boyfriend has put a sign on the door saying «Please ring the bell» and they completely ignore it and don’t deliver. Very frustrating. Use the Post Office instead.

Questionable up-​selling.
For the past 10 years I have used UPS to send work related materials. I did it so much and working with UPS was so convenient that I really didn’t have to think about it. Simply bring my package there, pay, and it was done.
I started noticing a problem about 6 months ago at this location with the new owner as I saw a huge price variation in shipping overnight from Boston to Springfield, MA. An envelope which was always the same size and weight was sometimes $ 10, other times $ 18, but I was alarmed when I saw a charge for $ 58. I’ve sent packages to Europe for less than that and this was just across the state. At first I thought it was because of the next day delivery time I was choosing. But my instincts were telling me I was being up-​sold to a delivery option I really didn’t need. I noticed that my past receipts were listed as Next Day Air, when it clearly says on the UPS website that Ground delivery in MA is 1 day. So, I went in to ship another envelope and decided to pay more attention to the owner and shipping transaction, specifically stating multiple times «I want the cheapest option as long as it gets there by the end of business day tomorrow». After being offered several earlier delivery times in a semi-​argumentative way I confirmed my suspicions.
If you are going to ship packages from this location become familiar with the delivery options to your destination or the choice will be made for you which is not always the most cost effective.

I only ever see one guy working at a time, which means that you can wait… and wait… if the person at the front of the line has something complicated. On top of that, the owner/​cashier has zero clue about customer service. I don’t mean to say that he’s rude. He just doesn’t get it. A couple recent examples:
* I waited out in the cold for 20 minutes because the store had posted a «gone to lunch, be back in 15 minutes» sign at 12:30 on a Thursday. Hello? People come on their lunch breaks to send packages. If you’re going to run a UPS Store, you need to be open during your advertised hours. Order food for delivery if you have to.
* The owner took his time pricing out the cost to wrap a customer’s large and expensive set of china. The man didn’t like the price, so he said he’d do it himself at home. To help the man who decided not to pay for UPS services, the owner/​cashier apologized to him, then offered to carry the multiple boxes of china back to the man’s car. Meanwhile, three actual paying customers had to wait.
Every time I’m in this store, it’s something similar — one guy working but always focused on the wrong thing. The owner is obviously a nice person, but he could really use some basic customer service training and a bit more consistent staffing.

I found staff to be very friendly and helpful. I was copying documents for the attorney handing my brothers estate and left a personal ID there. They held it and were very helpful.
I have heard so-​so things about the UPS packing of items, but I have not used that service. Faxing/​copying rates are market rate, so no complaints there.
I personally have FedEx account, as the nearest UPS shipping point was way over in Somerville, with awful wait times, so it’s nice to have a local store.

My packages got shipped. That’s a plus.
The $ 35 I spent to send two stuffed animals to New Jersey and Pennsylvania from Massachusetts? Kind of pricey but I liked the insurance/​tracking/​peace of mind.
The 40 minute wait I had while I was not helped or even acknowledged? Not really fun. To the store’s defense, there was only one cashier on duty on the Saturday I was there, and the person she was helping was sending a tube. Yeah, that doesn’t sound too crazy to me, either, but maybe sending a tube at the UPS Store is the equivalent of the logic games on the LSAT.
The fact that the doors to the store were open and the sign outside said it would be open until 4pm, but yet once I got in at 3:45 I was told they were closed and was handed a lollipop for my trouble? Well, that’s just one of those amusing yet disturbing stories I can tell my friends… so thanks, UPS Store!
