Been here countless times and Toni’s by George always comes through. Awesome cheeseburgers and steak fries and Greek pizza and equally awesome… Homemade tzatziki. Not on the menu per se if you are reading the menu in the restaurant on their menu board. But it was in their menu brochure and I saw it online and just ordered it along with a very fresh caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella(also not on their menu board). I changed up my cheeseburger routine and was glad I did and really enjoyed the homemade pita and tzatziki and the fresh caprese salad! Toni is George’s wife and Valerie is their daughter. They also have a great cook who is always cooking some delight on the grill, in the oven, in the fryer, or making a great sandwich. Give Toni’s by George a try. Tell them Melissa sent ya.

I used to come here all the time because it’s a few blocks from me. The food is a average. Nothing amazing. I stopped coming here about 2⁄3 years ago because the owner is beyond rude.

Love the pizza here! Best steak and cheese around. They are very serious, but you can make them smile. Also, very clean!

Got delivery last week and I was SO disappointed in the pepperoni pizza I ordered! Let me put it this way: it looked like they threw some pepperoni and randomly sprinkled some extra cheese on top of a cold cheese pizza that was lying around and then re-heated the pizza back up long enough for that extra cheese to melt. Also took over an hour for delivery, which I guess is why it was as cold as it was. :( I am a first timer here, so I’d love to be able to give them a second shot… maybe I’ll get pick up next time to insure that I’ll be getting a fresh, warm pizza at the very least!

I thought they had some good food but there service is so bad I’m not going back. I call to place an order my card gets declined and I tell them to give me a minute and he starts cursing and hangs up! Rude!

This place is quickly becoming my favorite local spot for a quick bite. My boyfriend and I have eaten here a few times recently and every time we get the same thing: a greek salad and a steak and cheese to split. The greek salads are amazing! I don’t know why, they’re very generic with a prepackaged dressing. But the pita, man there is something special about that pita bread. The steak and cheese is perfect! Soft bread, gooey cheese, and perfectly salty steak. Comfort food at its best. They have some tempting stuff on their menu but we love this combination so much I can’t imagine we’ll be trying anything else anytime soon! We live so close we only get pickup, it’s always made quickly and tastes very fresh. A++ overall!

Delivery is a sticky wicket. Often the foods you crave whilst housebound, pre-gaming or during post-party cool down are the ones with the shortest half-life. Hot sandwiches get ruined in Styrofoam bound steam baths, salads wilt on the vine, and let’s not even get started on fried starches or similarly treated sauced proteins. Show me wings that stay crispy after a twenty minute Fry-o-later hiatus, and I’ll steal them from you, knock you unconscious and capitalize on your informative and overly trusting nature. Toni’s works delivery miracles, By George. She always gets chicken fingers and fries, which arrive exactly as they left the basket. The secret: open take-out boxes, and lightning fast delivery. No steam, no softening, all salty, fatty indulgence. My go-to is the Grilled Kabob wrap($ 6.50) — marinated chicken, feta, lettuce and tomato, with a light and flavorful Greek dressing snuggly stuffed in a sealed tight tortilla. More bird than empty filler, and substantial enough for two meals, I’ve had a hard time exploring past this winner. Real good eats. We’ve never stepped inside, and aren’t rushing to try their pizza. But it’s even money we’re calling them next for a fast, lazy meal.

This is my go to spot when I need a quick, delicious meal. I’ve lived nearby for over 15 years, and quickly became a regular. George can be a gruff guy, but he always remembers his regulars, and will go out of his way to make sure you’re taken care of. However, if you’re a jerk, expect similar service right back at you — George doesn’t mess around, which is why I love him. His wife and daughter also work the restaurant, and they always make me feel welcome. They’re also open until 11pm every day, which is super convenient. Menu offers your standard Greek pizzeria and sub shop options, and the quality is higher than most similar shops in the area. My go to choices are the cheeseburger dinner, steak and cheese sub, and chicken cutlet sub. They also have some of the best fries around — thick but not too thick, no gross coating, and always cooked perfectly. I’ll keep coming back to Toni’s because they make quality food quickly, and always take care of me. What more can you ask for from a sub shop?

My business is right down the street from this location. We order from them almost every day! They have the absolute best Greek grilled chicken salads! We can’t find a restaurant in the area that even closely compares! The steak tips are fab over the salads too!!!

My theory is that Toni’s is Georges wife or past lover and George is the old guy who runs the place — George being pretty intense and not the most polite. With that being said this place is Da BOMB. All the food is delicious(from what I’ve had) and the service is always quick. I can’t speak to the delivery because I’ve never had it but I’d imagine decent with the amount of drivers running in and out of the place whenever I pick up. Worth trying cheesesteak as well as chicken finger anything — although subtle I absolutely love how they shred their letture rather than the standard chop. If you’re in the neighborhood give this place a try and you’ll be pleasantly suprised!

Always great food and the few times I went in very nice staff. Only problem is they are a little pricey and the fact that they require a $ 15 minimum for delivery made it even more pricey. As much as my fiancée and I loved the food, the price and the delivery rule often made us consider another restaurant. They did, however, not have a delivery charge which was nice, but might explain the delivery minimum. Once we got a car, we ordered food for pickup there more often.

I have to agree with Justin’s review from 2÷5÷013: Meh. Ive been by here a few times, Ive never gotten delivery before as I live in the neighborhood. The pros about this place are the large selection of sodas and the pita bread. Also it is large and bright and quiet. The food is pretty meh compared to the pricing. Service is strange — each time Ive ordered Ive gotten people just staring me until I said anything and then wordlessly starting my order until telling me the total price. It was odd the first time, strange the second, and almost hilarious the third time. It isnt a language barrier either. It is kind of hilarious? Like youve entered some indie absurdist film. Itd be charming if the food was above average for a Massachusetts pizza parlor, but it isnt. Food wise this time I watched them prep as they have an open kitchen: no gloves and no sink in the food prep area and minimal use of any utensils to prepare the food. No hand sanitizers, nothing. So watching multiple people handle my salad with bare hands was disturbing. I watched them throw frozen chicken fingers and fries and mozzarella sticks into the fryer with bare hands and manhandle my salad the same way. So, I stepped off to the side to eye their back area and still saw no sink. No one with gloves on even the people with aprons and theyre touching everything. Where are they washing their hands? The actual place is clean but I cant speak to the hygiene of the food? That plus the pricing doesnt match the quality of the food, so Im not going back.

After trying this place several times, I realized that it’s actually decent. I only ever do take-out, so I can’t speak to their food delivery(but if you can walk there, then hoof it). It’s not as good as Pinky’s down the street, but it’s not a bad option. It’s run by Greeks, apparently, which is a good thing.

We ordered from Toni’s By George while at our friends’ place for the Super Bowl. The name is definitely a conversation piece: is it by George as in, «By George, I think he’s got it!»?? — no, it used to be owned by George and is now owned by Toni, I think. We ordered 2 large pizzas and a Greek salad. The salad was on the smaller side(for 4 people) and came with a store-bought to-go container of dressing. Nothing to write home about: simple Greek salad. The pizza though? Awesome. Just how I like it: not thin crust, but not too thick. And the crust itself was not oily and was crispy but not burned. We got a Hawaiian(which I think could be my new favorite) and extra cheese(I haven’t had extra cheese in YEARS). I had one of each and then couldn’t decide which to have for my third! I went with the extra cheese — MMM, which definitely put me over the edge. Overall? DELISH. I don’t know how much it was, as my husband picked it up and paid, but if I lived near here, I would definitely get from here a lot. They apparently do subs and stuff too, which I’m sure are great.

Having lived in the neighborhood a long time, I pop in a couple times a year for the toasted roast beef sub(they throw it right in the pizza oven for a few minutes and it its delicious) Other than that its exactly what Unilocal defines the 2 star rating as. Meh. I would give them more business if they were at all friendly. Walk into this place and you get stared down like you offended someone’s mother. This continues when ordering and paying as well. It’s almost like they make you feel guilty for bothering them and giving them business. If you’re around the corner, a good little place to grab a sub. I wouldnt trek over from anywhere, you probably have something equally as good, if not better, in your neighborhood.

I tried Tony’s by George for the first time about 6 years ago, and at the time it wasn’t on top of my list place to order pizza or buffalo wings or anything for that matter. It was just good, good food… Now in time seems like they got better, so much better… nowadays I enjoy the grilled chicken Greek salad or steak tips Greek salad. Nothing beats that. For that and not only A+ from a happy customer

I have to begin this review by including the fact that I live literally 4 houses away from Toni’s and I cant decipher if the 4 stars I’m giving it is totally based on the experience or convenience. Anyhoo… Every time I order from Toni’s, whether delivery or take out, the food is good. Good I said. Not mind-blowingly unbelievably phenomenal, but good. It is NOT food that I would drive more than ten minutes to get, but it’s always in our option list of places we may decide to order from, considering our proximity. After reading that last paragraph, you may be questioning my decision of four stars for such a place whose food is nothing to write home about. The key, dear fellow take-out/sub-shop lovers is CONSISTENCY. Although the food isn’t the most unique or tantalizing, it is, however, always the same. There are no surprises when it comes to Toni’s by George; every time you order the same menu item, you get what you’ve gotten before. I love getting what I expect. Yay! Finally, the last bit of evidence that I can present to validate an almost perfect rating is the portion sizes. HUGE!!! Amazingly wonderfully huge!!! With the prices at average for a place of this caliber, the portions you receive here trump comparable prices in near-by Davis Square. Toni’s by George is great!
