Nice find while hanging out at the Granite Run Mall. Friendly nice place with attentive service and good food. Nice variety of Chinese food with a few Thai selections. They have several dishes under the« Da Shin Specialties». Started off with a very tasty chicken corn soup for 2 and followed it up with a few spring rolls and a awesome Calamari with Salt & pepper. If you’re in the area definitely stop in if you’re in the mood for Asian cuisine.

they came through on a night i was hungry. they are big on take out, so order a head. this is the FIRST place to get my drunken noodles order correct. i have allergies and veggies freak me out. it was quick, considering it was a Friday night and it was packed. i think i am going here often seeing we have to go to Philadelphia for ‘authentic’ Chinese food, this is reasonable on a Friday night.

I really had a good time. My head said the food was a solid 4, my heart ended up rooting for this place, wanting to give it a 5. My head won this round, but I’m determined to go back soon(maybe for their lunch special) to see if my heart can win me over… What could possibly go wrong? An Asian restaurant in a tiny, dive-y strip mall on a nondescript country road… It’s described on Unilocal both as «Classic» Chinese-American and«Chinese, Thai»… Hmmm… I’m skipping skeptical and driving directly towards dubious. My Chinese wife critiqued the place as being less authentic than other places we frequent, yet at the same time, she pleaded with the server to bring us another bowl of their awesome(and complimentary) «Classic» Chinese-American-Mexican fried wonton chips; Mexican gets thrown into the mix because the wonton chips were tortilla-like: large, crispy and delicious. Plus, our waitress brought us some chilli sauce and diced fresh pepper to add a little heat to our dishes — so reminiscent of the Salsa and Pico de Gallo sides offered at a «Classic» Taqueria. I’m not sure if our sassy waitress served up the spicy sides because she thought we’d enjoy the food with a little more ‘Zing’ or because she wanted to taunt and challenge us a bit… To be a little less sarcastic(which is always a struggle for me), the service was fantastic. Our waitress tried to get a sense of what spice-level we would most enjoy… when that conversation became a bit murky(as it so often does)… she offered to bring us extra spice as sides so we could adjust the heat to our desired level. It was very considerate and much appreciated. Enough of this foolishness & let’s talk about the food we ate! Summary: Really good — I look forward to coming back and trying more dishes. Hot & Sour Soup: Amazing! Sharp tangy notes without being overwhelmingly sour. I often order this when I try a new Chinese restaurant, and this was the best I’ve had in Philly. Hunan Duck: Sometimes I worry that duck might be a tad too greasy… this was a delight. Crispy outer skin and lovely duck flavor. The sauce was a bit rich for my taste, but was readily handled by combining with rice. Drunken Noodle: Beautiful aromatics(i.e., fresh basil and bell peppers) accompanied well-cooked shrimp. Although a bit sweet for me, this is where the chili sauce balanced it out nicely. Yu Shiang Chicken: A really strong dish… If only I could«Americanize» it a little more and get more vegetables to balance out the load of chicken. I can readily see why this restaurant is Unilocal-rated 4.5 stars. I really do want to give it a 5, but I’m just not there yet… I’m certainly open to many return visits and being won over… That sounds like it’ll be a lot of fun!

First time here in awhile, and there seems to have been a change in ownership or management. Wife had rib-tips which were very good. She had Orange beef, which she apparently enjoyed. I had the hot and sour soup, which was very good. The Spring roll was something I wouldn’t order again. I ordered the Red Curry chicken extra spicy. I like very spicy food, this wasn’t spicy at all. Other than not being spicy, the dish was excellent. I could have given them 5 stars because the FOODISVERYGOOD, but the SERVICEISTERRIBLE. The place was also empty, maybe they do a very good take-out. That would be my choice going forward.

It’s difficult to find an actual Chinese(er, American Chinese) sit-down restaurant nowadays, and I wanted my kids to have the experience that I loved as a kid: you know, the big fish tank, dunking those crispy noodle thingies in the duck sauce, all of it. Anyway, Da Shin didn’t disappoint: the food was great(I had the Chinese eggplant, which was divine) and the staff was really sweet to two little kids(they have kiddie books you can borrow and we were given a 2016 wall calendar — we visited in 12⁄2015 — that my daughter loves). Service was a tad slow but the food and smiles from the staff made up for it. We’ll visit again when we’re in the area.

Lunch was amazing! I have personally known the restraint my entire life. The servers and staff are all very kind and thoughtful. The food was prompt, well priced, and delicious. My family and I love da shin it’s our go to Chinese restaurant. I hope this review can persuade you to enjoy what my family and I have been enjoying all our lives!

We had a large party but ordered from the menu. The food was well above the regular area Chinese-American food and the service was friendly and attentive. The Korean-style chicken wings(fried crispy wings in a sticky soy, garlic and chili-based sauce) were so good, I could have simply noshed on those all evening. They were smoking hot, just spicy enough and rather messy. But really good. We had various fried rice, seafood, Kung Pao chicken, lo mein and even a duck. The duck was only so-so, and the lo mein tasted great but the noodles were cut up, which annoys me. I have no trouble stringing up long threads of noodles on chopsticks and in fact, cut noodles are harder to eat. But they tasted great. The fried rice was real fried rice, not the packaged pre-made stuff you run into sometimes. Most dishes were pretty good. If you planned ahead and talked to the staff, I think you could arrange for some really good off-menu dishes or special dishes like Crystal dumplings for a party. Prices were very reasonable. By the end of the meal, the younger members of the wait staff were playing Chinese clapping games with the kids and having a great time. That made our Chinese New Year celebration much more fun for the younger ones, for whom simply sitting at table is dull, sometimes. I’d come back simply for those wings.

A solid 4 this time for properly cooked Hunan Duck and(Special) Crystal Shrimp Dumplings. They don;t always have these dishes but if they are on special(or ask — and they if have it they’ll make it!) consider these. Ian and staff are excellent and attentive. No issues. Our go-to for«Classic» Chinese-American in Media.

Very delicious food:). We had the sechwan(sorry about spelling) eggplant is perfect!!! The eggplant melts in your mouth and they don’t fry it which is lovely! The general tso chicken was very tender not dry at all. The pineapple fried rice was very tasty. We enjoyed everything very much! It all tasted homemade which we appreciate. The prices are good. We ordered take out but the restaurant is very nicely decorated and SPOTLESS which to me shows a great attention to detail! There were even children’s books set up in the waiting area to read. The staff were all very kind and thoughtful. I was early to pick up and they were very sweet and brought my food out to the car(without me mentioning anything) Bc it was late and my kids wanted to wait in the car. My only con was that the food wasn’t spicy at all. We ordered 2 spicy dishes as mild and they definitely could have had more spice.

We love this place. From the accommodating staff to the delicious food DaShin is wonderful. I especially appreciate the amount of vegetarian options available. Tonight I had the Vegetarian General Tso’s Chicken which was AWESOME! Not only was it delicious, it was presented beautifully. I shared a bite with a non-vegetarian who said he could not distinguish it from actual chicken. I highly recommend this place — enjoy!

Very friendly service and the food is delicious. They’ve never disappointed. Also great for kids. They have a bunch of kid books by the front door that our girls take to the table. It’s a nice touch. Personally, I think it’s the best Chinese in Media.

I love Chinese food and have eaten it since I was a kid. My family also loves Chinese food. Once my mom wanted Chinese food but I said, «I ate Chinese food yesterday.» Mom replied, «So what, the people in China eat Chinese food everyday.» Basically, my family has eaten a lot of Chinese food and Da Shin is one of our most favorite places for this cuisine. Everything dish is excellent but I find the sauce on the Egg Foo Young to be really awesomely delicious. The atmosphere is casual with very pleasant décor. The restaurant is nice and clean. The staff is friendly. Quality establishment.

Dozens of visits since they opened i believe in the mid 90s. Higher end Chinese without the prices. New asian dishes added in recent years. And now a few farm to table entrees. They are always striving to be innovative in their approach. Today as we stay in a nearby B and B its takeout for lunch. Love this Da shin and their older one in Prospect Park.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant ever! I beg my parents to take me every time I’m visiting them in the suburbs. I love the atmosphere, wait staff and owners. I always feel comfortable here. I tried the Beef and Scallops Sizzling Rice dish this time and loved it. I usually get their shrimp lo mein because it’s so delicious and always hits the spot. I have nothing bad to say about this place! My friends are always jealous when they hear I went when I visit home.

I can’t get over how friendly the employees are here! They’re just so nice and go out of your way to make you feel at home, it puts a smile on my face. Da Shin feels like a little family-run Chinese joint, with food made from scratch and with love. When we went, they were featuring a $ 15 prix-fixe menu with an appetizer, entrée, and dessert, which seemed like a great deal. A lot of the food is typical Chinese-American fare – you know, deep-fried egg rolls, General Tso’s chicken, tons of brown sauce+meat combos. Since the Chinese chicken wings were advertised so much, we decided to grab a plate as an appetizer, with Kung Bao sauce. Highly recommended. The meat practically fell off the bone, possibly a little too pink, though. We loved the Singapore noodles, which were lightly turmeric curried, with egg, shrimp, and chicken. They were generous with the Yu Shiang scallops, too. The deep, tangy flavors of the brown sauce melded with the lightness of the scallops and water chestnuts. Their menu says they’ll accommodate you if you ask for less sauce, less salt, etc., which is cool, although I didn’t ask for any modifications. The dessert menu’s decidedly not very Chinese, or even Asian(well, the mango passion fruit bomb looked tempting), but the bear-shaped chocolate ice cream we got was too cute to resist!
