When the panel went on our 2011 Panasonic Plasma, we were pissed and, of course, freaking out $-wise, that such a new TV acted on its panel-cidal ideations so early in the game. Panasonic broke the out-of-warranty news by essentially responding that we were f*cked and need a new panel. The AV guy who mounted it(John Kostroba–(610) 800−5989− EXCELLENTHD/AV installer, by the way) recommended Falcone’s highly, & lives near Media. John offered to deliver the TV to Falcone’s, so I gave him the $ 80 Falcone’s repair fee(standard, if not less than average, based on calls I made before finding out about Falcone’s). Within a couple days, Frank from Falcone’s called and took his time explaining that a plasma panel would cost more than the TV was worth new– not even counting labor, which was very reasonable. Luckily, I bought it w/an AMEX card and their extended warranty covered the cost of the TV, as it was juuuust under 2 yrs. I spoke with Frank 3−4X during the process and he couldn’t have been a nicer guy, throughout. The TV still had mounting brackets on it, and he removed them, & wrapped them up nicely for us to pick them up. Also, he recycled our late, plasma friend at no charge. Professional, friendly, and timely. Thanks, Frank! RIP, Panny. Say hi to my 80’s boom boxes up there.

Last week our TV stopped working. It’s a pretty new TV and it wasn’t a cheap one when we bought it. Most people would just toss it and replace, but we happen to believe that if something can be fixed, it should be. Also, we believe our DVR box from our satellite TV provider was the cause, and they wanted a professional estimate of cost to repair. We contacted our manufacturer, who directed us to Falcones as an authorized service center. Frank returned our call promptly, gave great directions, took the TV out of our car for us, was very prompt, responsive, and gave us a quick estimate on the cost to repair. He even verified that yes, indeed, the TV was damaged through the HDMI input, which helps us with our case with the satellite company. Nice to know that in our disposable world there are still knowledgable, competent repair people out there. By the way, for those who think that it’s cheaper to replace a HDTV than to fix it, wrong! It’s at least $ 200 cheaper for us to fix this TV than to replace it, and we had the ‘most expensive thing that could go wrong and still be fixable’ according to Frank. Oh, and if you do decide after getting a quote($ 80, cash only on the quotes), Frank will recycle your TV for free, they are a recycling center too.
