Hygienist complained that I needed to do a better job cleaning my teeth when I’ve had issues with tartar build-up for years, genetics, and I was seeing this dentist four times a year in an effort to avoid problems. The hygienist insisted on using a water pick device that hurt my gums, and when I asked if she could manually clean my teeth she complained every time about how she had to work harder to clean my teeth. Dr. Gaishauser ever corrected her and said«that why we see him so frequently’. «Stupid is as stupid does” — Forrest Gump Office staff asked me to pay a $ 1 and $ 2 charges that weren’t covered by my insurance which I thought they should forgive. And the staff got really snippy with me when I suggested that I had spend thousands of dollars at the office, golly could you let a dollar slip through your hands? They said no, I owed the money because the fee is the fee and suggested my insurance was sub standard. I refused to pay the fee so they want to get even with me and even implied I needed to square my outstanding $ 1 balance before they would send my dental records to my new orthodontist and new dentist. Really? When I asked to have my records transferred to my new dentist, suddenly the office couldn’t email the records, a «problem arose suddenly and unexpectedly with their ability to send them by email and insisted that I pay $ 10 when the usual and customary fee is $ 3 for under 10 pages. I called the Ohio State Dental Board to inquire. Dr. Gaishauser’s office told me they could only send them by snail mail when my appointment was in two days so that my new dentist wouldn’t have the benefit of the x rays I paid for, and the medical records that are mine. Dr. Gaishauser has some strange policies and employees. Clearly he lost his way and is only in it for the money. Apparently he thinks charging $ 1 or $ 2 beyond what my insurance will pay is good policy. I was referred by a local orthodontist, Charles Pfister. I told his office about the office practices and suggested that in the future they not make referrals to this office because it was a bad experience. No class on the way out when I changed dentists, and my new dentist and orthodontist both expressed their displeasure with their office and lack of cooperation. They said that was unprofessional, they had not come across an office that charged for the records, and had never come across an office that couldn’t email the records.

I have been seeing Dr. Gaishauser since I was a kid, and I still choose to go back even though I don’t live in Medina anymore. Dr. G is extremely personable and makes you feel welcome even as he is digging around in your mouth. He makes you feel like a friend rather than a mouth. Recently, I returned to the office for the first time in a few years(yay having insurance!), and he remembered what I had been up to and asked about my family. It is this kind of personal touch that will make it hard to move to a new dentist.
