Frankies Wings & Things

This may be the worst place in Melbourne. People rave about the wings and what a deal they are, they’re tiny and absolutely not a value for the amount of food you’re actually getting. We joined a group of friends that had already been seated, and it took at least 10 minutes for a waitress to come to the table. 2 for 1 beer specials, okay that’s fine, but I don’t need both beers at the same time, that’s a pretty awful way to do that. Food arrives, mozzarella sticks were absolutely terrible and the wings weren’t much better. Waitress never bothered to ask how anything was. Drinks remained empty for most of the meal. Place was relatively empty, and I can see why. Most certainly not recommended.

Best wings in town… by far! If you are in Melbourne you MUST try them. Also they have a «chicken coop» which is fries with cheese and bacon that is crazy delicious!

Been going to Frankie’s for almost 20 years now but last night was our first trip to the new location. There were several new things on the menu but a few old favorites were gone. We used to love the spaghetti with meat sauce… It wouldn’t win any or awards or anything but it always had this burnt taste that made me wistful. Wish I had some right now, for some reason I would pick it over any Italian joint in town. Hope to see it show up on the special menu sometime. The other missing item was what they called an upstate plate. The owners are from Rochester, NY and this is the closest thing you could get to a garbage plate (google it if you must) around here. I would always ask them to serve it proper and four out of five times they complied. I suspect if I had ordered it anyway I may have just gotten one. Also would love to see this pop up on the special board if nothing else. Anyway about what we did order…
Fried pickles: hard to do wrong I guess; we’ve never had bad ones but these were really good. Don’t know what else to say.
Potato skins: this was the sole disappointment of the visit. Not sure if they are always off or just this once; but they were both cold and dry which was extra disappointing because they looked so awesome. They looked to be the most bacony and cheesy (a mixture of white and orange cheeses) potato skins I’d ever seen. The shredded cheese blend under the top was not yet melted and was still cold and the potatoes them selves tasted old and dry.
Chicken tenders and fries: the chicken tenders were your average ballpark chicken tenders; nothing to write home about but certainly nothing to complain about. Pretty much exactly as expected if not a little better. The fries were steak fries which I normally am not a fan of but we found these enjoyable but took most home (side bonus: they heat up well.)
Wings!: the wings are excellent, I’ve been to a million wing joints across the country a thousand times and these are easily top 3. There are a bunch of new flavors but they are «famous» for their hot wings which come in heat increments of 1 – 9 with 9 being the hottest. This time I went with a 4 which I would recommend for anyone as a flavor to start with to get a good idea of what you want. Not too hot for most and gives you a good flavor reference. I’ve tried them all except 1,2 and 3 and all have been great. In two decades of visiting Frankie’s the wings have always been cooked perfectly. Never flabby and soggy and also never overdone and dry. These guys know wings. We ordered a dozen knowing we would take some home. I usually hate cold leftover wings but always enjoy Frankie’s wings cold almost as much as fresh.
To wrap it up it has been a couple years since we have visited but it won’t be a couple more until we go again.

We were there on a Sunday and had a positive experience. Buffalo and garlic Parmesan wings were tasty! 18 wings and a pitcher is a deal for $ 20.95. They were cleaning the pitchers so manager brought us out beers on the house. Great service and great wings!

Everything about frankies is up front. Delicious wings in a clean atmosphere and a good price.
A local favorite.

Simply outstanding. New to the area and found them on Unilocal looking to score wings for gameday. Best wings I’ve had since I left NY 15 years ago. Going to be a weekly staple for gameday in this house.

I was visisiting family in Florida for the first time and on my trip there we stumbled upon this place and took a chance. It was the most amazing wings I’ve ever eaten. Customer service was excellent. I wish I lived in Florida just to eat here.

Like another person that posted, i gave it 2 stars and not one because the staff was great … however smoke wings, flavorless, small. dry … my wife’s mushroom burger… asked for medium rare, it was medium well done. The fries also tasteless.. My kid’s meals. 2 chicken strips that were very small and tasted like the walmart brand. my other kid’s meal. fish sticks… also tasted like walmart fish sticks.. Tryung to help out local businesses but this was below mediocre … very dissaponted… not sure how the other reviews were so high.

The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the staff is friendly and the building is nice. The food is mediocre at best and way over priced. The wings are horrible, small and dry. The lunch menu is terrible!

My food tasted great. The presentation was what I expected. Over all great experience.
I would invite my friends & family to meet me there for good food & a clean restaurant.

Solid service. Good pricing. Large portions. If you want fried food and cold beer, this is your place. Oysters here are excellent.

Friendly staff and delicious food! Great for bringing family and friends. My favorite choices are the cheeseburger wrap and the Malibu chicken sandwich. The crispy chicken wrap is also very good when you get the chicken tossed in garlic Parmesan. This restaurant also has the best sweet potato fries I’ve been able to find around town. This restaurant offers a larger room for parties and has a variety of seating options. There’s something there for everyone. The full service bar and bar staff are very accommodating. I frequent this place and I’ve found the new location has benefitted them greatly.

Food and service was excellent! We had a nice waitress and the fried mozzarella sticks and mild boneless wings were very good !! (: I would recommend anyone in the area to try it if you like wings or mozzarella sticks (: definitely a good place to stop and eat at!(:

I have been coming here since I was a child. Thai chili #3 is where it’s at. This place is the bees knees

I LOVE CHICKEN WINGS — -I LOVE CHICKEN WINGS EVEN MORE AT FRANKIES! I’ve been to all of their locations throughout my life and it has always been amazing!
So on my recent trip home, I went to Frankies new location and I have got to say the place was fantastic. I primarily only get wings and potato skins and they were as amazing as they have always been! The service is top notch! (I love Doc, Nancy and Heidi) they are amazing people and care about the place as I’ve known them for quite sometime now. I’ve never had one issue there! Beer is always ice cold whether draft or bottle, wings are always piping hot and have the best sauces ever (I usually get 7s or 8s) and potato skins are always cooked perfectly with the right amount of cheese! Oh… you also get plenty of carrots right away which is also very nice and I have never gotten a bad carrot ;-). The new establishment is very nice and clean and there is plenty of seating for small groups or for families and large parties. Ive seen some complaints about parking but I personally didn’t see any issues with it at all. Another thing I’d like to touch on is the dressing. I see a lot of complaints or remarks about how they don’t have ranch… they don’t…BUT I WILL SAY THAT THE BLUE CHEESE AS THEY CALL IT IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL BLUE CHEESE. IT’S ALMOST LIKE A RANCH BLUE CHEESE MIX THAT IS THE MOST SAVORY DRESSING I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Im ultimately so excited about this new place as it was packed with couples and families which was a very refreshing and positive sight! I hope Frankies Wings and Things will be here for as long as I’m alive cause I love this place and couldn’t live without it! Keep up the great work cause the place is fantastic! If you’re visiting the area stop by and if you live in the area and want the best chicken wings and a fun place to chat and catch the games go here! There is no excuse not to!
