A park with manatees Holmes Park is a tiny park that is located near the water in the city of Melbourne. Not a whole lot of space for walking or running around but it does have some unique things. The first thing you notice is the very cool display of manatees. Of course they aren’t real manatees but there are the real thing only a short distance away when the conditions are right. The park does have some benches and shade trees as well as two nice enclosed picnic areas. It could potentially be a very pleasant place for a picnic or outdoor party. Unfortunately when I was there the benches were occupied by some rather odoriferous fellows that were obvious intoxicated and who quickly asked me for money when they saw me. That wasn’t particular unusual or disturbing but as I was leaving I saw one fellow get up and start to urinate in the bushes. Not the sort of thing you want to see while you are having a picnic. It still is a cool little park and the manatees and shade trees make it very pleasant. It’s too bad the unfortunately guys couldn’t find another place to sleep it off.
