I went to Mima Gateway to the walk in clinic because I was feeling very crappy and while I knew I needed to seek immediate medical treatment, I knew it didn’t necessarily condone a visit to the Emergency Room. This was my second time to the walk in clinic. Here’s what I really like about Mima’s walk in clinic. First I love that they offer medical treatment for an extensive variety of problems from the common cold/flu to bites and sprains/fractures to cuts/wounds and other types of infections. I’ve been to some clinics where they are very limited in what services they can offer and often times it’s hard to even get an accurate diagnosis simply because of the clinic’s limitations. Not at MIMA. They have everything centrally located in one facility and they offer Xrays, MRI, CT, ultrasounds, and a full service laboratory and onsite pharmacy. Everything is at your fingertips. The wait times are minimal, especially compared to a normal ER visit, and the costs are very reasonable(again in comparison to a general ER visit). The staff is friendly and efficient. I was recently there for the flu and respiratory problems, and was treated by a Registered Nurse Practitioner named Joy. She had a very caring, nice bedside manner and overall did a great job in addressing my issues. I received a needed respiratory treatment immediately in the exam room, was escorted a short walk to radiology where I received my chest xray and received a shot of steroids and antibiotics. I was out of there in a matter of two hours, but I was only there for about 20 minutes before I was seen by someone and taken back to a private exam room. I’m sure the wait times, like all places, day to day, and hour to hour, but still I think this place definitely beats the ER. Save the ER for the true medical emergencies. You can get acute care right at MIMA.
