Red Ginger

Food is ok for Americanized Asian. Bathrooms are not very clean. Have gotten diarrhea twice after eating here for dinner. Nice décor and good service.

Great to find a good Chinese restaurant. Fried dumplings were good. The sauce really makes it. Enjoyed our entrée and egg rolls too. We will be back

Don’t be fooled by the fact that it’s in a mall, or that the main menu has the usual «Americanized» dishes. This place has real deal Szechuan. Just ask the host (ess) for the traditional Chinese menu. My goto dish is the Dan Dan Noodles (extra spicy), and the Hot and Sour soup is the best I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor, bring a large party and order family style with several shared dishes. The food and service are excellent here!

We were looking for a place to eat on Christmas Day and settled on Red Ginger at the Melbourne Mall (Suntree location was booked). Boy was that a mistake. I have been to Red Ginger in Suntree many times and it is consistently very good. I was looking forward to trying the mall location, but it just did not live up to my expectations. Maybe it was because it was on Christmas day and all the regular chefs were off, but everything tasted «off». It was chaotic checking in, even though we did have a reservation. Once seated, our waitress was very nice and tried hard, but as the food slowly came out, some of it was cold and most of the dishes tasted a little «funny». Three members of our party started to feel nauseated, so we quickly paid our tab (and we did receive a discount due to some of the problems we had) and headed home to claim bathrooms for the evening. I gave it 2 stars because the waitress was so nice and they did try to make things right. I think I will stick to the Suntree location from now on, unless I need to prep for a colonoscopy.

I’ve been here 3 times and each time it got worse! I wrote a pretty lengthy review on their Facebook page and was yelled at by one of their managers, Jay, for my negative review. Then, their management deleted their rude comments. (I screenshot the entire conversation so I have it if anyone wants to read it.) They finally apologized after I told them they should have done that in the first place. It’s not the customers fault for having a bad experience and they should never be chastised for it.
The first time we went the silver wear, plates, and glasses were dirty and we had to send it back. The food was ok but definitely not for the price. The service was also extremely slow even though we were one of four tables being served during «dinner rush». The second time we went it was the same deal but during lunch. The third and last time we were there the waitress made us wait more than 15 minutes just to take out drink order. (We came during «dinner rush» again but were one of three tables.) The waitress messed up our order, and after saying she corrected it STILL got it wrong. Our appetizer, entrees and salad came out all at the same time. Our food was mostly cold and drowning in sauce. Our sushi and rolls were tiny, and cut so poorly they were almost falling apart. Our waitress even called our chop sticks «sushi sticks»!
We gave this place 3 chances because we like to see places succeed. Each time it got worse. The icing on the cake was being humiliated on Facebook for having a bad experience at their restaurant. Never again! I do NOT recommend going there.

Red Ginger: PLEASE take a look at the screenshot I posted on your profile. The screenshot I posted was sent to me by one of your past employees. (I will not release their information.) The behavior Jeff Napier exhibits is very worrisome. I would love to see your business blossom but I feel it’s impossible if your management is holding you back and threatening past employees and insulting customers for things that are out of their control. I wish Red Ginger the absolute best of luck and I hope things get better for you.

Didn’t eat here but the drinks were good and strong. House made infused alcohol and simple syrups.

Used the online ordering system. Ordered the Volcano Roll and Spider Roll. The Volcano Roll is usually topped with a generous portion of the seafood medley but was quite skimpy this time. My Spider Roll was missing the glaze which they sometimes put on the side for TOGO orders. Unfortunately all I was given was soy sauce so both my rolls were lacking.
My two rolls delivered totally $ 28.00.

I was very surprised by this restaurant. I was a little worried that it was a sushi spot in a mall, but was very pleasantly surprised. Fantastic ambience, modern décor, knowledgeable staff, fairly priced, and fantastic sushi and rolls! Will definitely come again!

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I also wish I could tell you how the food is here. We sat for almost 20 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. It was not busy at all. We got no service even after trying to get any ones attention. We just left and no one tried to ask us why, they literally just looked at us. I have never had this kind of experience in my life. Worst service I’ve ever experienced because it was non existent. They lost our business forever. Such a shame and so infuriating.

I’ve been coming to this Red Ginger since they opened. The décor is modern and sleek and tonight, they had a piano player who took requests. We weren’t seated at the most comfortable table, but this is probably because we were a large group with a toddler. Our waitress took a long time to get to us, but once she did, she was pleasant and attentive. The food was so pleasing to the eyes and tastebuds. The portions were large, but we couldn’t stop eating and we practically rolled out of the restaurant!

Once again another outstanding meal and outstanding service we absolutely love coming here

Second time going there, once for lunch and had the red gingers spicy chicken which was very good. Recently went there for dinner and had the lemon chicken, the dish felt weird as if something was missing. The waiter was no where to be seen, not even a busy night. 10 minutes later, almost done eating, what I suppose was the manager comes over and jokingly says «would you like some lemon sauce with your lemon chicken? «and drops off the sauce and leaves. Never apologizing for a huge mistake that would of made my dish what I ordered.
Not going there again.

Love this place. My coworkers and I go there for lunch all the time. If you like spicy food, ask the waiter for their jalepeno relish. It is awesome to add to your dish. I love the chicken with jalepenos, chicken curry sha guo, garlic chicken and eggplant, etc. There are several dishes from the chinese authentic menus that are good as well. Their sashimi is good as well. I love their string beans, their hot and sour soup is awesome.

Lets just say that its not like the location in Suntree. Food and service were way off and it was hot as hell at our table. Ive been to China and they have air conditioning in China. How can anyone expect you to eat hot food in such a hot restaurant.

Pretty darn good. I had the dumpling rolls (a Lil too much dough) and the Melbourne roll was wonderful. Customer service at the bar was awesome. My mom had the prawns with walnuts. …awesomeness! !! Great experience and happy hour 2−4−1 can’t beat it.

Was there a third time now with friends. Pretty much liked what we had. My wife was disappointed in the Pan Grouper. The veggies and sauce were good. But after seeing another picture of it, I see why. Didn’t seem coated or marinated as the other pic. She felt it was just thrown in there. We other four enjoyed what we had. Ordered more sauteed string beans w/​minced pork and fried dumplings this time to share, very good!!! About the string beans, there’s the one I mentioned (V4 on the traditional menu) and vegetarian string beans. (No minced pork)
I like the «V4» the best. The salad with ginger dressing always good. This time I ordered the Red Ginger Spicy Chicken. VG!!!
Right amt. of spice, lightly fried, all white meat, no fillers. You won’t be disappointed with this dish. And a generous portion. The Orange Shrimp was just OK, expected more. Tasted it from the share. A very light orange sauce. We did once again have a good waiter. David, who btw, will be leaving in two weeks. Moving to another state. Very funny and helpful in deciding about dishes. I’m looking forward to a fourth visit soon and trying other things.

Extremely good, very authentic Chinese dishes if you order off the Traditional menu. We’ve only had the Singapore Noodles and the Snow White Prawns off the standard menu and both were excellent.
Traditional menu items are probably not items you’ve heard of although some have been added to the regular menu Lovers Beef and Tofu Ma Po are very good and pretty spicy hot which I like. The Tofu Ma Po is my favorite dish here and I consider myself a Foodie.
The service is pretty good but can always improve.
They do a great job here and you won’t be disappointed.

Red Ginger is the best! We usually go to the Wickham location since its closer to our home; great for takeout. But if you want a delicious dining experience, go to the new location in the mall. The restaurant is beautiful! The food is fantastic and sushi is great! Happy hour too! Need i say more?
Cant beat the prices and service is excellent. Cant wait to go back :-)

If you live in Melbourne and like Chinese food, you have to try Red Ginger! I’m surprised most people don’t even know about this place.
The service is good and prices are just right for the quality and portion size.
When you walk in the décor and atmosphere is pleasingly mellow, very fitting for a modernized Chinese restaurant. The sweet tea was very clean tasting, and the table next to me seemed to be enjoying their sushi dishes. I ordered the lamb dish, with fried rice and crab rangoon. It was delicious, I nearly licked the plate clean!
Try it out for yourself, and ask for David, he is a great server who will be glad to answer any questions you have!
