Me and my fiancé are visiting Melbourne from San Francisco and we purchased a disposable camera at this store about two weeks ago. We took a series of pictures on said camera, brought them to the store and had them placed on a CD. Upon viewing them at home, we realized that only 2 of 27 pictures were actually viewable and the negatives were mishandled with fingerprints on them. We went back to the store this morning and they attempted to make another CD and offered us another camera. In addition, we wanted a refund which was offered to us only after we had to remind them about the customer satisfaction guarantee on the Walgreen’s website. The people at the store attempted to explain that maybe the camera was defective or that perhaps the photos were not taken properly. However, I am a photographer and I made sure I was very careful taking these photos — as I always am. The minute I saw the negatives it was rather apparent that there were issues with the developing process. The photo staff needs to be trained properly in developing techniques and the customer service staff in this store needs training in how to handle customer complaints in a more customer focused way. I have had very positive experiences in San Francisco with Walgreens. however, this was a huge disappointment and the staff needs to be careful when they handle customers’ photos. They are much more than just photos, they are personal memories.
