I remember this location as I was growing up because it had all the cool freakin toys. So with birthdays coming up I rolled into this location and found out nothing changed. All those complaining about the service I was greeted in 30 seconds of coming into this location. The shelves are 100% stocked it is almost as if they are exhibited the toys instead of selling them!!! If you want to complain and think it cant get worse go to the North riverside location to see worse than THIS. I mean I was literally awestruck by this location to the point I was twirling about with my mouth open in awe! Just like when I was five! The parking is the only drawback as it is hard to get out/back onto North Avenue

As a new mother having this store close to the house has been great! Never realized how much I’d be coming here on a weekly basis. There is a big parking lot so there is always somewhere to park. It is an older store so its not that it is unkept but just on the older side. They always have everything that I need including baby food and diapers etc. with it being mostly toys and not being a babies r us it’s good that I can still find the items I need. Only thing I do notice is that at any given time there are always only 2 cashiers at checkout so their lines can get long. It would also be nice if they had a bigger clothing section for babies.

I really like this Toys R Us. It’s close to my house, pretty well stocked and I like their rewards program. I’ve gotten good deals at both the store and online this Christmas season, and I’m just about to go over there again today. I comparison shop online vs amazon… sometime amazon’s price is better… sometimes TRU. Today TRU has the better price on the items I want: Fisher Price Loving Family accessory sets. It’s close, pretty tidy… yes, sometime understaffed. But overall a good experience most times I go.

From like October on, don’t try calling unless you’ve got nothing better to do than wait on hold for the better part of a day.

This particular Toys«R» Us location, to me, is reminiscent of a wholesale club. Its atmosphere(austere), staffing(sparse), and customer service(indifferent) are more suited to a warehouse setting than a retail store. I don’t recall a single hassle-free shopping experience in the past. I do not look forward to returning. From my perspective, it has predictably poor customer service. Having phoned ahead to verify that they had the Hello Kitty Water Dispenser in stock, I arrived at the Customer Service desk at the front of the store to pick it up. When I asked the Customer Service employee about the toy and provided my name he said, «If you called ahead, it’s probably in ‘Holding’ at the back of the store.» Observation #1: The word«probably» does not inspire confidence. The number one reason why customers buy where they buy is confidence. I said, «Holding?» He said, «Yeah, ‘Holding’ is where we hold special orders and call-ins. I’ll go back and get it for you.» Observation #2: When a customer calls a retail store to verify that it has a particular product in stock, provides her name, and states that she’ll stop by later that day to purchase it,(assuming it’s not a swing set or, otherwise, oversized merchandise) that product should be available at the nearest service counter to the front of the store – where customers enters, IJS. He then disappeared for several minutes before returning with the product. «Great!» I said, «Here’s my credit card.» Surprised, he said, «Oh, I can’t ring that up for you here. You have to go around to the check-out area.» Looking at two cash registers behind the Customer Service counter, I asked, «What are these registers for?» «Oh. Those are only for returns.» Observation #3: Avoid telling customers that you«can’t» do something or that they«have to» do something. Try a softer approach: «While these registers are for returns, the registers to my left are for purchases.»(I realize we’re talking about Toys«R» Us and not the Four Seasons. Even though you may not work for a luxury brand, there’s no reason why you can’t treat your customers with professionalism and grace.) Observation #4: Why on earth would you designate the only two cash registers as «returns only» at a Customer Service counter in a retail store – where, presumably, you sell stuff? Long story short, avoid this place at ALLCOSTS!

I hate this Toys R Us with a passon. It is messy, and the staff is horrible, rude, and lazy. I made the mistake of visiting during Christmas time. The lines were insane. Insane because the staff is so slow and can’t do simple math. Seriously. They are also way understaffed at this location, not because they can’t get more help, it’s a budget issue.(I’ve encountered this throughout my years in retail. Why pay 6 people when you can get 3 people to do the same thing? It makes your end of year profits shine.) Anyways, I was finally 5th in line when the cashier tells me that they opened up the line in video. I leave my place in line and find that the line is even worse than the one in front! I was so ticked off that I left my cart full of gifts in the middle of the store and left. I have a terrible habit of doing this whenever I get mad at stores. I hate waiting!

This store gets a ½ star. They are overpriced and the staff could not be less helpful. I only go there if I can’t find what I need at Target’ or Wally World. It is a friggin’ nightmare at Christmas time-avoid it, if you have a choice.
