I have spent most of my adult life visiting public libraries in the course of my business and education, and I consider myself a good judge of community(as opposed to academic) libraries. Melrose PL is my go-to place to use computers, grab a mystery, or curl up in an easy chair in the dead of winter with a good book. The librarians are knowledgeable, friendly, and interact with the patrons in a welcoming way. I do visit several other local libraries but this is my ‘home” library.

This place sucks. Its so boring and quiet I thought it was a morgue. I hate books and so should the rest of Unilocal nation.

I am updating my rating after more visits than I count to this library. I was laid off for more than 12 months so I spent a lot of time here until I got my laptop. The fact that you can use the Internet for 3 hours is a godsend to somebody trying to job search. They have a computer reservation system if it’s busy, which is nice. Since I am still not so impressed with there non-fiction selection I can’t give it 5 stars, but other than that this is probably the best library I’ve been too. The staff is very friendly. And they have quite a few book sales, where you just pay what you think is a fair price. Good times all around. And I LOVE that you can bring your coffee in here.

This is a surprisingly nice library. I think it tops other local librarys. Bottom floor is a great childrens section — big — lots of different areas to read to kids, computers, etc. Upstairs is the books for adults + big kids. Decent video selection too. I like this place and you will too!!!

I love the Melrose Public Library. It is open until 9pm every week night except Friday’s and it’s open 10A — 5P on Saturday’s and 2P — 5P on Sunday’s(except in the summer). As soon as you walk in to the adult section there are tables of books called«Quick Picks» — where the most popular and current hardcover books are compiled. Also, right in front is a very large selection of current paperback books, which they often have several copies of the popular current ones. I can go in to the library and browse through the stacks or pop in and find at least 2 books I want to read in 10 minutes. This public library makes me proud to be a resident of Melrose!
