Bar Louie

Giving 2 stars only because the drink menus is varied & well done. Came here on our square hopping experience. Service here is the worst. Sat down at the bar, took a while to get the bartender to acknowledge us. Ordered a drink then excused myself to use the restroom. Came back & we still didn’t have drinks. Not that many folks here. Granted, it’s a holiday & probably a lot of prep to do for the evening but I would think that patrons come first.

They gave me a watered down angry orchard and i told the manager Brad Coomes. Brad vame to the table with an attitude and didn’t even listen to my concerns. He was very dismissive. I eventual just asked for the corporate manager number. Horrible service.

Bar Louie is a great Midtown spot to meet up friends for good drinks and food before venturing onto downtown adventures. (I have to give props to our bartender at Hilton East Memphis for this recommendation– it’s one of his local hang out spots to de-​stress after work). On a Friday night, we arrived around 9:30 pm and the place had pretty much cleared out, with only a handful of tables occupied. The entire restaurant was dimly lit, turning our booth into a cozy romantic spot. 80s background music was more than fine with me– I love jamming to the 80s! There are TVs lined around the top of the bar and around the restaurant, making it a good place to watch games for all you sports fanatics out there. The atmosphere and layout reminded me of Yard House back in Houston, but with much better service!
To start off the night, I had a fruity-​tasting sangria, which I ended up sipping on for the rest of the evening. The hand-​battered calamari appetizer was freshly made but average on taste and served in a cool conical wire basket. Definitely order the amazingly delish salmon sliders. The sliders are a foodie-​tastic arrangement of a generous portion of blackened salmon, bacon, tomato, spinach, and pesto mayo. I would say to pass on the side of fries that were served with the sliders, as they weren’t fresh and room temperature. Service from our waitress was attentive and she gave us a great food recommendation on the salmon sliders.
It was chilly that night and I wish I could have dined on their cute outdoor patio! I would probably come back again for drinks and appetizers based on my experience and previous reviews. Bar Louie is the perfect spot to start your night before making your way to explore the sights and sounds of Beale Street in downtown Memphis.

I’ve been to several Bar Louie’s in my day but boy not all are the same or even similar. I am here for a graduation celebration and the outcome was great! We decided to dine outside, there was a tv, easy access to the outside gate and smoking if needed. Of course I didn’t take a photo of my cheese quesadilla with chicken and bacon. It was really good.

$ 5 top shelf Martinis today, Dec 5^th. I had the «Diva» x 2 and it was nice if you like a fresh, fruity, vodka sorta drink with a slice of fresh pineapple. April, our server was awesome. Good came out quick!

I only stopped in for one cocktail, but I can’t say that I have any complaints! The patio is quite nice. I plan to stop in again the next time I’m in the area. The waitress was very attentive and stopped by three or four times to check on us. The Bellini was good, not the best I’ve had, but I prefer the traditional version. It was a tasty variation!

We stopped into Bar Louie for drinks and an appetizer while we were in Overton Square. The weather was perfect, so we took advantage of the nice outdoor bar area they have.
I had two Pineapple Express drinks, and we shared a spinach artichoke dip. All of it was wonderful! The service was a little slow, but our waitress was very friendly and gave excellent recommendations. We would visit here again!

The atmosphere has so much potential. But I had a terrible dining experience. I got a salad with chicken: bad choice. They brought it out without chicken. When I alerted the server, they didn’t remake the order. No, they took my partially eaten salad and threw some chicken chunks on it. Unbelievable.
Terrible service in the dining room.
Only go there for drinks. Bartenders looked competent.

Went for a friend’s party after work and had a great time here! Our sever was pretty sardonic, but we enjoyed him. He made the experience refreshing! I took his recommendation and ordered the buffalo chicken flatbread… I’m typically not an avid bleu cheese connoisseur, but this was just the perfect amount. I also shared a sangria pitcher. The pitcher saved us a couple bucks and was delicious!
The patio looked nice, wish I would have taken advantage!

I hate to see a nice guy put into a bad situation. On the other hand, nice as he was, our server’s primary interest was protecting himself against management censure; again, nice guy, bad situation.
For example, happy hour starts at 4, but he couldn’t take a discount order at 3:54 — really?
Martini special (great deal @ $ 5.25) unfortunately only applied to «house special» «martinis»…from a long list, I saw exactly one made with gin, maybe two w vodka… hmmm…
Traded up to a $ 10.25 Hedricks Martini w a lemon twist… came w a sloppy lemon wedge… traded down to The Dirty, came without the the blue cheese olive garnish (sorry, they didn’t make those up today; when they arrived, tasted more like crème cheese stuffed)…and, for record were billed at full price of $ 10…intentional scam, or garden variety incompetence?
Tap system was malfunctioning… bottles were an option, but at non happy hour price initially, but good recovery at just $ 3 for an Ultra — such a deal!
Outdoor seating could have been great, but for some reason most of the fans were not turned on… maybe in consideration of the fly population?
It wasn’t all bad — the half price fried calamari was tasty…
With all the options in this area, there is no reason to patronize this place — save your money and go elsewhere.

We love Midtown! I plan on purchasing a home there in the very near future. With that being said I can’t express how excited I am about how awesome Overton Square has become.
I’ve visited Bar Louie in Nashville TN and to say the least I wasn’t impressed. When I heard from a friend we had one here I wasn’t stoked but decided to give it a fair try.
On the heels of my experience in Nashville I was once again disappointed. It took forever to be seated (it was Sunday afternoon and the crowd was minimal). The appetizers were overly priced and subpar at best. The drinks had almost little to no alcohol in them. And the music was crap.
I really wanted this place to be awesome but it simply was not. You’d be better off going to Blue Monkey.

We keep coming back here, Why? The only answer I can come up with is we love their patio.
We’ve been here several times and on each visit they have been out of at least one item we’ve ordered. What are the chances?
Service is good when they FINALLY figure out you’re there…
Our last visit we waited over 20 minutes for our drinks only to be told they were out of a couple of the ingredients and we’d have to order something else. And this was a drink special they had on an insert in their menu. Luckily that order only took 15 minutes to fill. Hence my sarcasm.
I’m not overly impressed with any of the food or drinks we’ve tried but nothing is horrible. We always have a good time here but I would love it if they would just up their game a little. Everything they do they just do o.k. and they definitely have potential to be better than just o.k.
Come on Bar Louie, you got this! You can do it!!!

I’ve been to Bar Louie a few times now and honestly the service is never up to par.
I called on Wednesday to let them know I’d be bringing in a group of 25 for lunch on Friday and that we needed to sit together. I called them about 11:45 the day of the event, as they had asked, to let them know we would be there by 12:30.
If I were the manager, I would have made sure that I had seating for 25 people together as requested. I also would have assigned more than one waiter or waitress to the party since the main waiter was also the bartender. It’s not as though we went in unexpected. I called them two days in advance. After receiving drinks ONE AT A TIME, then our orders were taken for food. Since there was almost no one else in the restaurant, everything took way too long.
Most of the food was good. However, I will never plan a group outing for this restaurant again. Very disappointed.

I met a friend here for lunch. Our server came and got our drink orders and was patient during my friends indecision.
Later we ordered food which came out at different temperatures, my beans looked like they were congealing, the rice was cool and the rest wasn’t hot.
The server came by once more to say he was going to go smoke. We said, «ok.» I found this to be an interesting share but he didn’t come back for well over 30minutes. But oh when he returned he was as high as 30 supermans. Swept in a corner for at least 10minutes and ignored our table and empty drinks.
I like the look of bar Louie but I wouldn’t eat there again, superhigh server aside. The food was ok but the the drinks were good.

I’ve been to plenty of Bar Louies in different states and cities and this one has given my fiancé and I the worst service known to man! Service was not only slow but our server never came to check on us. We had to get attention from other servers to get a hold of our server which was awful. After getting the food we were happy that the food and drinks were amazing! But when we got our check we saw that she put gratuity in there. It was only us 2 and she put gratuity in there? We understand that servers live off of tips so we know to give 18% or more but she took that away from us. She took away our option of giving her 18% or more which was annoying! You give people horrible service and expect them to just give you a great tip?! You don’t deserve it lady!
Everyone I advise you to examine your bill before pay…

I was so excited to to try this place when it first opened on the Square… that’s where my positives come to an end.
Prior to having lunch that day, I looked up their menu so I would know what I wanted. Their menu was just ok in my opinion and I decided on one of the «large» entrees… or so I thought.
The fish tacos came out in great time but I was speechless, they were so tiny. Almost like silver dollar tacos or something lol I really don’t know how to describe them. They had a tiny bit of queso fresco and way too much cilantro which gave the tacos a grassy taste.
The waitress sort of took on a nasty attitude when she realized that u didn’t care for my food, mind you I never said anything to her about it. Things just got awkward but I ordered some hot spinach dip and it wasn’t too bad.
Like everybody says it’s really nice on the inside and the location is amazing but that’s about it. I won’t be back.

Food was good service not so good didn’t have certain kinds of alcohol because waitress said they forgot to order they need to get it together because it’s a really cool little place
Waitress was new and so stressed we had a table of 12 I felt so bad for her she had no help
And needed it. We will return again and I’m sure they will do better

The food was not very good, I also didn’t care for the menu choices! I’ll give it a second chance and update my rating… Stay tuned, rating may go up!

Our 1^st visit was a Saturday afternoon at 2:30. We were a little frustrated because we had to go find a waiter to service us after about 10 – 15 minutes of waiting at a dirty table on the patio. But once we finally found our waitress, she was very friendly and helpful with the menu.
My wife ordered the Grilled Veggie Wrap (without the queso or pesto mayo — she’ vegan). I had the Crispy Chicken Melt, and my daughter had the Baked Mac & Cheese.
The crispy chicken melt was good on the whole, but I would get it without the cheese next time.
My wife thought the grilled veggie wrap was «okay» and next time would either order it with the broccoli and carrots on the side or with mushrooms. She did like the hummus that was on the wrap and is was a pretty good size meal.
My daughter thought the baked mac and cheese was «pretty good», giving a «3» on a 5-​point scale.
One point that they seem to struggle with is in busing the tables on the patio. During our one hour meal, the table next to us was never cleaned and The ones that did eventually get cleaned only happened after somebody new set down at the table
On the whole, this place has a great location but we would give this visit 3 stars.

I love Bar Louie each time I’ve come here it’s truly a pleasurable experience. Good food great drinks as well as good service all around.
