This is definitely not your gourmet coffee kind of coffee shop. If that is what you’re looking for, you need to drive on down the road to Starbucks. Ck’s is a no frills, bacon and eggs kind of diner that’s been serving locals for several years. As Chris C. mentioned below, it’s very much like a Waffle House, only local. I like the food okay at CK’s. It’s nothing to get all that excited about, but it’s consistent and fairly inexpensive. I’ve never had bad service here, nor had to wait very long on my meal. Best part — it’s open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Need someplace to eat breakfast while in Memphis and since CK’s was close to the hotel I was staying out, CK’s it is. Best way to describe CK’s is that it’s a Memphis version of Waffle House. One of the tens of thousands of little family run Coffee shops you see in the south with your basic Eggs and Bacon type food. Place seems like it’s been around for about 30 years and upon walking in, you can tell it’s a place where the locals come to, not because it’s good, but because they’ve been coming here for years. It’s a bit beat up, but is clean and decent old school style dinner feel to it. Menu is pretty basic, if you’re looking for anything more complicated than a Denver Omelet, you’re at the wrong place. It’s all about, Eggs, Bacon, Pancakes, and Coffee. Prices here you’re looking at between $ 4 — $ 8. Since there wasn’t much to look over, decided to get the 2 Egg Scramble with Country Sausage, hash browns, and Toast. The waitress/cook, took my order, walked over to the griddle, cracked 2 eggs, got out the hash browns, stuck the bread in the toaster, and was cooking me breakfast. Took her about 5– 8 minutes to cook up breakfast. The eggs were decent and well scrambled, the toast, well it’s toast, so not much to say. The hash browns here were plentiful, but a bit bland. A bit of pepper quickly solved that problem, the country style sausage, that was really good. Tasted like they grounded up their own pig and did the spices and everything themselves. After breakfast, wondered up and paid the bill. Came out to be about $ 8 including tip which I thought was a decent price. As to rating, I think the locals got this one right as I can see myself coming back to CK’s Coffee Shop not because the food is wow, but because it can easily become part of your routine. Solid enough spot for breakfast and worth a 3 star rating.

One of many CK’s… diesel coffee, greasy food and suspect service… If you’re a partaker of the goth movement and in high school. this is the late night/early morning destination for you… otherwise it’s just a sub par greasy spoon with little to no flare…
