Picked up a cheap $ 20.00 piece, as well as some papers and a new grinder. The shop is kinda cool, looks like it was redone out of an old house. The parking outside wasn’t ridiculous, and the shop owner Wayne was absolutely the nicest guy in the world. He had some great recommendations on some products, and when I showed interest in a new Vaporizer, he basically broke all of them down and showed me how each one works. In his words, he basically told me which one was full of shit. Love this shop, love the guy, and prices are no more/no less than any other Head Shop. Also shop has choice selection of Homemade glass pieces. That’s what I got. Service: 5⁄5(Awesome owner, friendliest guy in Memphis) Atmosphere: 4⁄5(Cool old house, big selection, and hippy clothes) Price: 5⁄5(Piece=$ 18, Grinder=$ 12, Papers=$ 2.00, no more/no less than other shops) Talk to Wayne, hes a great guy!

This is my personal choice for Memphis glass. Great prices and service. Beautiful local glasswork.

Hands down the best tobacco shop in Memphis. I remember my high school years when the only options I knew of were Wizards and Whatever. Kinda sucked, because neither of those stores had great pricing and most of their products were imported. My knowledge of Young Avenue is as follows — much of the glass is handmade by one of the owners, who’s a laid back guy but always helpful and very professional when he’s there in the shop. For that matter, all the clerks I’ve seen here were friendly and helpful. They have a wide variety of glass on glass water pipes, as well as some larger regular water pipes for really great prices. They have some fabulous bubblers, and everytime I go here I see a new piece that looks really beautiful or novel. If you’re looking to buy quality glass for a great price, Young Avenue Glassworks is the place to go in Memphis. If you’re looking for some of the other ancillary stuff this place doesn’t have as much, but it does have a few interesting types of glass art and other similar art pieces.

Randomly ran into this place while on a trip to Goner Records, and was astonished at how absolutely fabulous it really is. We talked up the gal behind the register and found out that the owner makes all the glass pieces by hand– in his backyard no less. Speaking of glass pieces– holy hell batman. There are pieces to fit any budget– ranging from $ 10 for a one-hitter to upwards of $ 150 for bongs and pipes. My personal favorite? A Charlie Brown Pipe located in the back far right case. Which seriously begs the question, who doesn’t wanna smoke their legal or illegal(I don’t judge) substances out of a Charlie Brown pipe. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and state that anyone who showed up to my house with a Charlie Brown pipe would totally get the cool kid of the evening award. I hope the owner reads this, cuz I am putting in my request for a unicorn pipe. Cuz seriously? The only thing cooler than a Charlie Brown pipe is a pipe with a unicorn adorning the top. Smoking would be so much cooler if there were more unicorns involved.

Cool collection of pipes, though they were running low on stock when we visited so that was sad. :(Clerk was friendly. Pretty small shop but worth checking out since all the glass is made locally. Pretty awesome water pipes as well. Another plus to this site is that it’s in an area with many other shops around so you can hit it up then go to another place. Enjoy! I got myself a pretty cool piece there. :)

Great little shop nestled in the heart of midtown. Unpretentious. Beautiful glass jewelry and lacquered jewelry boxes line shelves upon entry, as well as a decent selection of clothing, including loose-fitting skirts and tops in pretty patterns — some batik. There are also some great hobo-sized purses for reasonable prices. To the back of the store is a large selection of colorful blown glass smoking accessories in various sizes. Perhaps my favorite part of the store is the selection of handmade soy candles. My favorites are a peachy rose and sandalwood/lavender.

This is the best place to get smoking accessories in Memphis, I think. They do their own work, and it is not a typical head shop full of incense, posters, and candles… It is about the glass. I have purchased several pieces from them and have never been anything but satisfied with the craftsmanship. I highly recommend checking this place out. Often they do have strange hours, and I’ve gone there a few times and there is a sign that says Will return in… :p It is worth the wait though!
