The courtyard Marriott is a more casual(and cheaper) cousin to the Marriott a few blocks away in East Memphis. The rooms were very clean upon arrival and throughout our stay. Also, no problems with water heat, room temperature, etc. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. In fact, they proactively executed some great customer service when they forgot our breakfast at the café downstairs(Starbucks products and some pretty tasty foods). They quickly got our meals, gave us free drinks, and ensured we had breakfast on the house the next day. My favorite thing is the fireplace in the lobby – what a cozy dream! Great for business or pleasure, but not a high end luxury

The worst hotel experience i’ve ever experienced. From the night shift worker(Terrance) that mumbled racial slurs to me to the horrendous hospitality that was shown from the acting manager and the acting general manager. My hotel room was booked from Thursday to Sunday. On our first night at the hotel, we opened the sliding patio door which had a stopper on it to prevent you from opening the door all the way. As we proceeded to close the patio door, the door easily unhinged and fell a floor down onto the ground leaving cuts on my hand. We were baffled on how this could’ve happened, so we immediately went downstairs to report the incident. They came up and assessed the damages and told us that we would be taken care of. I thought we were going to be moved to another hotel room but a few minutes later we were approached by the night worker. The night worker, Terrance, came up to me and my friend, asked us which room we were in, and told us to immediately vacate the premises and that local authorities were called to escort us. As i was walking away infuriated by the situation and my cut hand, my friend heard Terrance mumble racial slurs under his breath and politely asked him, «excuse me, what did you just say?», to which he replied, «that was not towards you but to your friend». I was not happy about this and the unjust situation we were currently in. We then proceeded to go downstairs to the lobby to plead our case to the police officers and the manager on duty. The manager then told us that our only options were to leave or to stay in the room with no patio door and talk with the general manager in the morning. So we slept in a room with no patio door and got bit up by mosquitos and other bugs. As if this inhumane treatment wasn’t enough, our morning meeting with the general manager was worse. As soon as we met with the general manager we were greeted with a bad attitude and a gm who already had his mind made up. The gm, without actually hearing our side of the story, gave us the options of being escorted out by the police or to stay and pay $ 1100 for the broken sliding patio door. As a business owner, who was there for business, I am on the road a lot for trade shows. I’ve stayed at this specific hotel multiple times on my business trips to memphis and this is the first time I’ve ever been treated so badly by all the workers on duty that night. A hotel at the Marriot caliber should not be run like this. In any business, the paying customer is always right or should be at least given the benefit of the doubt and definitely shouldn’t be treated in such a manner. No one should have to go through what i just went through.

The hotel staff was amazing. we came here on an emergency basis since our friend had a stroke on the way to Atlanta. We came to the hospital across the street and stayed here at the Courtyard Marriott. the staff was helpful in every way and extended our hotel rooms as needed. thank you very much

I have been stay at this hotel for now 5 months Sunday thru Thursday and it has been wonderful. The rooms are always clean, the food in the lobby is fresh and most importantly the staff is fantastic. The best part of this hotel is the staff, they are always ready to assist you in any matter.

40 year old single white business traveler The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly. I reserved a suite and they put me on the first floor. That was kind of creepy since I had a walkout glass door. I requested a different room and the moved me one level up. I recommend a balcony facing the courtyard and over looking the pool. The rooms are very good quality, clean and a nice size. I found it to be along the same lines as the other hotels in the area. Pros: the pool is nice. Lots of chairs to sit in and wifi reaches the pool, so you can do some work and sit outside. The balcony was nice, but very small. I also had the air conditioner blowing hot air onto half of it, so it seemed even smaller. The coffee bar in the lobby. Cons– the free wifi is very slow. Not good enough to watch Netflix. You can purchase«faster» speed, but I did not. There is no free breakfast and the«restaurant» is really not a restaurant. More of a snack bar. Most importantly, there is NOFREECOFFEEINTHELOBBY. This always seemed to be a basic need for most hotels. The lobby area is very slow. I like a busier restaurant/bar in the lobby for socialization. It is definitely not a place people hang out. If you like things slow and quiet, it is good enough. While I did like the pool and the balcony. The Courtyard is more pricey than the Hyatt Place next door that has a nice pool, free breakfast and free coffee and faster internet.

I was visiting Memphis to attend a wedding at the Botanical Gardens down the street, so I picked Courtyard by Mariott because of its close proximity to the ceremony. We only stayed one night and our room rate was either $ 89 or $ 99, don’t remember which. Either way it was a reasonable price for the room. Check in and check out was a breeze — no lines and really quick service. The clerk who checked us in asked if we wanted the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd floor, which was nice. Our room on the 1st floor was pretty average. There was a tiny sitting area with a loveseat and coffee table. The TV was in a really weird position, so when we were in bed it was 90 degrees to the right of the foot of the bed. I guess they positioned it to be in front of the loveseat instead of the bed. No biggie. The room seemed very clean, the bed was super comfortable, and best of all the shower had awesome water pressure. There is a train track that runs parallel to the hotel and we had the misfortune of staying on the side closest to it. The train noise did bother me a little bit, but might not be so bad on upper floors and definitely on the other side of the hotel. The location is really good if you have business in east Memphis. It’s close to the interstate, restaurants, and stores(mostly chains from what I could tell). The do offer breakfast, but it’s not free.
