After ages I decided to get a haircut and I had long hair till waist. I wanted a change, short layers and Daniel’s did not disappoint me. as a matter of fact I’m overwhelmed. I love the cut. Teresa took care of me and my hair and I love it. They charged 45 $ for the cut which is absolutely cool with me considering the outcome. Will go again and recommend anyone who plans to go for a haircut.

I had to make a last minute emergency appointment here because the place I normally go to turned my hair orange. Seriously. I was able to book online at 10pm for an appointment the next day at 10am that is super convenient. The salon has a lot of nice new equipment and clean. The girl that did my hair was nice and she did a good job but I think they try to rush you out of there I have a lot of hair and it takes a while to dry and she told me it would take her to long. I normal leave with a wet head but what if I didn’t want to. Now the weird part. As soon as you get there they walk you to a small room to put on a smock you know the thing they put on you before you get your hair done, ok so I put it on then I had to sit in a waiting area buy the front door umm this smock dose not go with my stilettos I don’t really wanna wear this thing around, as I’m sitting waiting in my smock I noticed half of the salon is a store they sell clothing and jewelry I thought for sure my stylist was going to push product on me but she did not, she did give me a sample of hair conditioner. After I was done I headed to the counter to pay well you can’t leave a tip on your credit card. What the hell I don’t carry cash, the lady did tell me there’s an ATM just to the back of the store. Are you joking. You want me to pay a fee to get cash out of your machine. I don’t think so. I fell bad for the stylists they probably get shorted tip all the time because of this. So I had to run to the bank and come back. This place looks nice but for the price and the weirdness I think I can find a better place to get my hair done.

I have been seeing Kayla for cuts and blow dries. She’s great! She does a great job and works very efficiently. I highly recommend her!

I went here years ago when they first opened and I loved it but since then becoming a mom and not wanting to spend tons on my hair I stopped going and coloring my hair. I went yesterday bc I wanted my hair done and to be a little pampered. I really enjoyed it. I got the color I wanted and I like the style although it isn’t quite what I thought it would be. I can always go back and cut more once I am use to this. I loved getting my hair washed and styled, did not love the price or that I didn’t have cash to tip and instead of putting the tip on my cc I was charged a fee to use the inside ATM so I could tip my hair dresser. Get with it on that. Prices like this is why I started doing my own hair lol.

Dan equals hair disaster. Color was ok. Have absolutely no idea what he was trying to do with the hair cut – all I know is it’s probably one of the worst hair cuts I’ve ever gotten. Almost two weeks later, I STILL can’t style it… and all I had asked for was a trim. I knew I was in trouble when he was cutting it and I asked if he had any ideas for my hair. His response was«with fine hair like yours, dry shampoo, because with fine hair the less you mess with it, the better.» Ummm… ok. What???

First off-I love the online appointment scheduling. I got a same day appointment with Abby, and she was great. My haircut is a work in progress, so I’ll be back to see her soon. The salon is nice, but I really wish I could have left a tip on my card.

Oh my goodness!!! Let me start by saying I hate watching people cut my hair because all I can think is, «oh, I guess it’ll grow back…» And I had that same feeling as Dan started to cut my hair. But then I just kept watching him work. I had zero faith in what was going to be the finished product. That was bad of me because oh my! My hair looks gorgeous! I love it! I fit have a salon again!!!

I’m only in Memphis for 2 months but my highlights were long overdue! I saw a «not recommended» Unilocal review praising Mary and decided to give her a try. I don’t know why Unilocal didn’t recommend that review but it’s too bad bc Mary deserves the shout out. She was easy to talk to and my hair and color came out great. She asked, «is that what you mean» BEFORE cutting which seems obvious but way too many stylist don’t do that. I can’t think of anything bad to say, it was even a little less than I expected. If I need a touch up before I go I’ll be sure to go here again!

I’m always searching for someone who can color my hair the way I want. It doesn’t seem like a hard request, but I never could seem to find exactly what I wanted, until I met Mandy! She gave me just the color I’ve been looking for, plus she had suggestions that really worked for me. I also decided to get the hair smoothing treatment that Mandy told me about, and it’s the single best thing I’ve ever purchased at any salon. Mandy is the greatest… I’m even thinking of coming back to Memphis just to see her again since I’ve moved out of the area. Thank you Mandy!

I thought about it and everyone deserves s second chance, right? Boy am I glad I went back. Devin is a hair god. He does a special dry cut — which makes sense because we wear our hair dry and not wet — which was perfect for my fine hair. I got the cut I’ve been wanting. Devin, I’ll definitely be seeing you again! Not to mention the man is so kind and sociable. Thank you for my cut!

This place is great. Has an upscale feel and really friendly staff. I was offered free drinks and was able to help myself to pretzels at the coffee bar. My stylist, Kendall, was attentive and covered every area on my scalp twice. So I’m very happy with the cut and I will be a regular. My cut included a wash and scalp massage afterwards and I swear that if that massage lasted 2 more minutes I might have fallen asleep. The only complaint about this place is that they are not equipped to take credit cards to pay for the tips. Yes, they’ll take credit and debit cards for all the services, but you cannot include the tip on card. Bring cash if you tip. Either they’re avoiding some accounting hassles or they don’t have a decent vendor for the credit card processing. Bottom line, I highly recommend DanielShay’s and you should give Kendall a shot.

Pretty good! I am a salon snob and this salon has a lot of what I dislike, but a few great features I love. In the welcome area, a DVD of Oribe designs and runway models being desecrated by some white-toothed stylist plays on a loop. This is to plug the Oribe styling products, shampoos, and conditioners. This is yet another place where a tip cannot be added by credit card, but an ATM is in the lobby if you are short on cash(remember, for beauty services, 10% is customary). On the upside, the welcome desk is staffed by young ladies, but they are both lovely and polite, and would never ignore the customer. I only go here for eyelash extensions, but hear nothing but good things about every stylist. My favorite part: online appointment booking!!!

This salon has a cool, edgy, stylish vibe. They have an army of stylists, so it’s easy to get a convenient appointment. I was hopeful, given the feel of the place, that my haircut would be similarly edgy and stylish, but both times I went to DanielShay’s I feel like they cut my hair as if I were an old lady. Granted, I’m growing out a pixie cut, so there’s not a lot to work with, but I did not feel very stylish when I left. If I ever go back, I will ask for whichever stylist has the most tattoos and see if that gets me a better result.

I recently got my hair cut by Karl. I’m the pickiest guy I know and Karl gave me hands down the best haircut and shampoo I have ever received. He was really easy to talk to and I felt so confident with him that I ended up telling him to do what he ever he thought would be best. I can finally look forward to my next haircut.

The place looked great and I had an incredible experience. Enjoyed a gourmet cup of coffee while I waited for my appointment. I’m a normal dude that just wants my hair to look good. Amber is truly a magician with scissors. This was one of the best cuts I’ve ever had. Methinks I’ll be coming back.

I love this salon! I specifically wait to get my hair cut here when I’m back in town. I’ve been seeing Devon here for about 10 years and compare every cut from other people to his style. It is slightly more expensive than the traditional Memphis area salon, but you’re paying for a quality cut and smart stylists.

I have been a client for over 15 years and have been pleased with my experiences. The staff is very professional and always go above and beyond to make your experience a pleasure. I work with the University of Memphis dance team and I send all of my girls here for color, cut and hair treatments. I suggest Daniel Shays to everyone that asks about my color! Shay and her husband Dan have built a tremendous business and I’m happy to say I was one of her first clients and never disappointed.

Got my hair done here for prom, and I guess the girl who did my group of friends only know one updo or something because she did all of our hair the same style! Boy, do I feel special and stand out… It was quite expensive for the simple curl she did too! $ 70 for just plain curls nothing special. I can buy 7 curling irons and do it myself at that price! Ridiculous. I really wanted to love this place too with the recommendations I’ve gotten from friends. High price for average work.

Very professional and great hours! Fair prices and high quality products: Keratase, Oribe, Enjoy, Too Faced cosmetics. I never have to wait here the staff is always on time. The have a nurse to do Botox, etc but I am personally not a fan of needles being used outside a doctors office. Too me only doctors offices should do cosmetic procedures. Thankfully, the hairstylists do not try to sell you Botox procedures. Secondly, bring cash for your tip. You cannot place the tip on your credit card which to me is a no no for the service industry.

If you are searching for a new hairstylist in Memphis, you are so LUCKY you found this place. Daniel Shay is THEBEST hair studio I have ever been to. The business itself is clean, relaxing, inviting. The front desk staff is always pleasant and helpful. But most importantly… RACHEL E. is SO amazing. NEVER have I gotten a bad haircut/dye job. SO professional, sweet, and knowledgeable. I trust her 100% with my hair, and truly value her opinion. Not only is she a perfect fit for me, I also take my children to her(my youngest started seeing her at 2!) They love her so much, she is so patient and kind to them and their hair always looks KILLER! Love her! If you are debating… STOP…ANDGOTHERE! Ask for Rachel E!
