Epic Total Salon

I went to Epic today for the first time. My old stylist stopped doing hair so I was in search of someone new that was closer to home. Unilocal led me to Epic so I called to make an appointment and they set me up with Bernadette. She was great! I originally went in wanting to go back to my natural brown but she gave me her honest opinion based on my eye color and skin tone. I could not be happier. The color and the cut is the best I think I’ve ever had. She took her time and was very professional! They also use square credit card readers which is a fun perk!

I never even made it past scheduling an appointment. I called to discuss the process of donating my hair to Locks of Love and I was telling her I was very nervous because it was my first time to donate. The lady was extremely rude to me acting like she had never heard of such a thing. I asked a couple questions and she responded with a very condesending attitude. I then told her I would make an appointment else where that would make me feel more comfortable. I called True Salon and they were super sweet and very excited for me to donate my hair and then stepped me through the whole process of what to do.

I have been here a few times.
First, the positive: this place usually has openings (especially if you don’t have a specific stylist you’d like to see), they were understanding when I had to cancel on short notice for an unexpected trip out of town, parking is easy, pricing is reasonable, and on weekdays it’s downright relaxing to go here. Zac is personable and did a good job trimming my hair.
With the summer being over, I can’t go on a weekday anymore, so I went on a weekend and waited for thirty minutes beyond my appointment time for my hairstylist to acknowledge that I was there (I was sitting right across from the station, watching the stylist apply haircolor to a client).
I was in a hurry, and I was more than a little ticked that they had clearly staggered clients and couldn’t handle the volume they had booked for that Saturday. (Further evidence of this was the hairwash station that I was ushered to — it had an empty shampoo bottle lying in the sink).
I understand that Saturdays are busy, but I probably wouldn’t go back to this salon unless I wasn’t able to get in elsewhere. My tip is to go here ON A WEEKDAY and ask for Zac.

I was recommended to Zac at Epic nearly two years ago. I have lived in Memphis for 11 years, and hadn’t found a stylist who could listen to my ramblings and come up with a color and style that works for me. Zac is that stylist. He asks questions, he listens, and he makes smart recommendations. He also offers great styling tips to use at home. Plus, this guy knows color. He is both intuitive and technical, and I have never gone home unhappy.
Plus, the atmosphere is calming and friendly. I always feel that they are glad to see me. I give this salon 5 stars for the quality hairstylists they keep here!

Good service, comfortable facility and people that actually can cut hair. It can also be an entertaining experience at times. Zack cuts my hair and I have very difficult hair to cut. He’s been pretty consistent and actually knows what he’s doing. Like me, he has ADD and is very easy to spool up and I get a kick out of listening to him just talk and talk and talk. All the employees and the owner are down to earth and really do treat you both as a friend and a valued customer. They are both professional and entertaining. I love the place and hope Zack sticks around for many years.

After moving to Memphis from Jackson, MS, I was terrified to try a new hair salon. I was very attached to my old hairstylist.
I’ve been to Epic three times now in the past year and a half – and I’ve gotten my hair cut with Zack every time – I’ve really grown to like him. He gives honest and useful advice, but is also great to just have a casual conversation with. Most importantly, he’s a great hairstylist – I just recently decided to go from waist-​length hair to shoulder length hair. For someone, who has always had long hair, that was a big step for me, but Zack did a fabulous job and I still get compliments.
The salon is always pretty busy but I’ve never had a tough time getting an appointment. Call at least a week before you want your cut so you can get a prime spot.

I am new to town. I found this place through Unilocal.I requested Mark. Getting an appointment in the day was easy (around lunch) but I was not able to get a quick appointment during the weekend. Being desperate I took the lunch time Friday booking.
Mark was easy on me. He cut my hair very conservatively, nothing crazy and the color was wonderful– natural and not over the top. I would use this place as my go to salon, but I’d say if I want anything edgy I’d be very specific.
My 4 stars to to this place because of location, cleanliness, standard service, and the fact that my stylist knew how to be sure I left there happy. Making the appointment was also easy and when I arrived my stylist was ready and never left me waiting. 4 cheers to EPIC.
By the way, love that the stylist had a credit card scanner for his iPhone. Very trendy, technology forward and kept me from waiting for the receptionist to have to run may card.

Great atmosphere and service.

As I wrote in another review, I’m new to the area, I’m a guy, and it’s never easy to find a place to get a haircut where you’re completely comfortable… but Epic hit the mark. From the outside, Epic looks like one of the many houses built in East Memphis in the 50’s and 60’s… but inside, it’s laid out very well with different rooms and inviting lighting and décor. The people are excellent… all very down to earth yet continuously professional, and they treat you both as a friend and valued customer even on a first visit. The talent of the staff (at least the one I know), is on par with any great place you would go, and the clientele is a mix of male, female, old, and young. I really enjoyed it, and may have found my place for my time in Memphis.
So, why not 5-​stars? Well… there’s always the «next level» when it comes to places like this. i.e. Thorps in Madison, WI… they served beer. Mitchell’s in Cincinnati, OH… Debbie used a straight razor to do my entire cut (yeah, wtf, right? it was awesome). So… there’s is the next level… but this is an excellent establishment, and I will be back.

I am giving Epic 5 big stars. I go to Pam and she is absolutely fantastic. She’s been doing my hair for over 10 years now and I’ve never once had a less than wonderful cut.
The salon itself is pretty, trendy and very clean, with modern equipment. And it’s always bustling and busy. I have to schedule appointments about two weeks in advance, sometimes more. But occasionally, if my schedule is flexible, I can get in quicker.

One of the best places I’ve gotten my hair done ever.
I had Zach and he was wonderful. The salon itself is very comfy and cute. It was my first time there, but I was treated like family. Zach kept me in stitches the whole time and loaded me up with free samples to take home. It’s worth the money for a great haircut and friendly, helpful environment.

Go. Ask for Mark. You won’t be disappointed. He knows hair– mine’s curly and thick, and he has always known what will make it look fab.

I have been using Kathleen as a stylist for almost four years and just moved to California. Im on Unilocal looking for a stylist here but I really want to fly back home and have her do it! She has given me the most gorgeous hair I have ever had and she is one of the greatest people you will ever meet. She is amazing!

I love this place! Great staff and superstar like results, this is were I send everyone who is tired of not having there hair done right.
