I’ve been here a couple of times. The first time I got the Italian beef sandwich which was really good. The second time, I got a deep dish pizza. It takes a while but it was worth it. I’ve never been to Chicago so I can’t comment with too much conviction, but I thought their food was really good. The only thing I didn’t care for were the fries. We got the riverview fries, and while they tasted good, they were kinda soggy and hard to eat. We ended up only finishing about a ¼ of them before giving up. I would come back here again though as the food was tasty overall, I just wish they were open on Sundays.

A few weeks ago, my husband told me about a small restaurant off Stage that served great hot dogs. He went on to tell me that the hot dogs he enjoyed were covered in thousand island and bacon bits. Being a person who usually only puts ketchup on her hot dog(and because bacon makes everything better), I was intrigued. We went to Jimmy’s Hot Dogs in Bartlett, which is apparently the only place in Memphis where you can get true Chicago-Style hot dogs. I, however, did not have a Chicago dog; I chose a Paul Harvey: This dog is topped with Thousand Island dressing, bacon bits, onion, relish, celery salt and a dill pickle spear. The hubby had a Paul Harvey and a Jimmy’s Jimmy’s namesake hot dog is covered in relish, cream cheese, onion, celery salt, sport peppers and Jimmy sauce. And, as you can tell, Jimmy’s relish a very odd nuclear green color, but crunchy, fresh and quite tasty. For the 30 minutes that we were there, I saw a steady stream of people coming in to pick up to-go orders. Jimmy’s also does traditional Chicago-style thin crust and deep dish pizzas. The folks at Jimmy’s refuse to put ketchup on one of their hot dogs, but they do offer ketchup packages(I managed to refrain). Rumor has it that you will get dirty looks if you put ketchup on your dog, so proceed with caution. If you’re looking for a local hangout where you can get big taste for a relatively low price, Jimmy’s hits the spot.

Like being in Chicago! Memphis only Chicago pizza. Real Chicago hot dogs, like the Paul Harvey and the Mayor Dailey, and awesome Italian Meat sandwiches, served dry or dipped.

We’ve ordered from Jimmy’s quite a few times now… three to be exact. Each time, the quality of pizza keeps going down. This past time we ordered the meat pizza… there was so little cheese on it that I had to add more when it got to the house. Jimmy’s claims that they are better than Wise Guys… I think they need to go to Wise Guys and copy their recipe. They will make a killing if they do! We won’t be going back to Jimmy’s…for $ 27 for a large pizza, we expected more than a few shreds of cheese.

Sonic’s yes Sonic’s has a better Chicago dog at a better price. I didn’t care for the atmosphere as it seemed unsanitary. The food was subpar and I will never return.

When I moved back to Tennessee after living in Chicago for 11 years I had some co-workers tell me about and take me to this place. They all raved about it and wanted to know what I thought being that I had lived in the Chicago area for over a decade. The sad news is that Jimmy’s doesn’t really measure up to your average Chicago area hot dog place. First, they don’t steam the buns. I mentioned this the 2nd time I went and was told that I could have my buns microwaved if I wanted but that they don’t steam them.(I did and it is not the same) They are using Vienna Beef hot dogs and poppy seeds buns but the lack of steaming is why I feel less than wowed like I do when I am in the Chicago area.(that’s part of the secret) The 3rd and final time I visited, I took the wife(Chicago born and raised) and we tried the Italian Beef. We wish we hadn’t as the meat was super tough and quite fatty.(a no-no in Chi-Town) Literally, the worst Italian Beef I have ever had. You could go to Sam’s Club and buy a tub of Papa Charlies Italian Beef in the frozen section and have better Italian Beef. The Italian Beef was the one that made me not go back a 4th time. With all the Chicago pix and decorations on the walls it just wants you wanting the real deal. Maybe it is because Jimmy is a South-Sider(*grin*) or maybe he just caved to pressure from the locals to compromise the food to meet their tastes but it’s just not authentic for my tastes. I’ve never tried the Pizza so I cannot comment on it other than it looks right in the pictures.(but then again, so do the dogs) If you’re from Memphis and never been to Chicago, go ahead and head over to Jimmys and eat up. You won’t know the difference. :) However, for those familiar and missing authentic Chi-Town dogs, Jimmys is not going to cure your craving.

Jimmy’s was recommended by a Chicago native who now lives in Memphis, as being authentic Chicago fare. I am kind of partial to the«Old Chicago». We love hot dogs, and found the selection of toppings to be comprehensive. They are famous for their pizza and sandwiches too. Menu here Family atmosphere. Clean. Located in a Bartlett strip shopping center. Good food. I will definitely be dropping by again the next time I get out to Bartlett.

Jimmy’s is okay. I have had better; I have certainly had worse. If you are actually hungry, then I suggest you order the large hot dog. The hot dogs are just like the ones in packages at grocery stores in my opinion. The atmosphere is good, the people are nice, the food is good.

I’ve not had the dogs here so I may not have enough info to fully rate it yet, but I came here for the pizza. Born and raised in Memphis, but my family has some Chicago roots so it’s a frequent vacation spot for my family. As a kid I loved going to Gino’s East with my family. I’ve had a lifelong love affair with Chicago style deep dish Pizza. So, shortly after returning from my annual pilgrimage to Wrigley Field, I decided I had to find out if there was a place in Memphis to get Chicago style deep dish. I looked up restaurants and came upon Jimmy’s. It was exactly what I was looking for. Except I wish it was in Midtown. Still, it’s worth the drive. The deep dish they serve here is definitely quality. One knock on it is that it uses just flour, I don’t believe they have a corn based crust like some traditional Chicago pizzas. But they make a damn good pizza. I’ve enjoyed it the few times I’ve tried it, and I look forward to baseball season and trying it again. Deep dish pizza, the Cubs, and a beer. Can’t go wrong.

I don’t think their hot dogs are just out of the ballpark spectacular, but to be fair, I didn’t get a Chicago dog, which is what they are known for. Fries are like cafeteria quality… I intend to go back and try the Philly cheesesteak and/or Italian beef. The upside is that the prices are pretty reasonable.

Can’t beat an authentic Chicago dog, and since it is too far on a normal weekend, Jimmy’s is the place. The sausage and kraut can’t be beat either. $ 3.75 for a Chicago original dog and fries is the best value in town.

I love Jimmy’s! The food is great. The only sauerkraut I have EVER liked was on top of a Jimmy’s dog. The prices are very good for the amount of food you get. I do not like eating in, as a lot of the chairs and seats are a little bit old & unstable! There are magazine and newspaper clippings from Chicago’s history along the walls, which are great to read while waiting for your food. When you walk in, get off the phone and read the instructions before ordering and don’t think about ordering ketchup. Jimmy is very outgoing and animated, which adds to the charm. The wait for the food is a little long for my taste, but not long enough to keep me from going back. If you want one of their delish deep dish pizzas call ahead. It takes about an hour for them to prepare and cook. They close at 8(I am pretty sure) so don’t expect to call at 7:05 and get a deep dish. Jimmy’s is very, very good!

Great place, I’ve had all the Chicago style hot dogs(except the Fire Dog) and love them. The dogs come with fries which is a plus. The pizza is good but I’m a fan of thin crust pizza with a few toppings so the Chicago style pizza is not my fav. Prices are reasonable and cool atmosphere with old Chicago newspapers and photos on the wall.

Fantastic place. The cheese steak is hands down the best in the Memphis area.
