The BEST Hibachi you will ever get, I have traveled around the U.S. and nothing compares to this place. It feels like HOME, anytime I am in town this is always on the list to visit. Can’t wait to get back to Memphis to indulge in their amazing food and drown myself in their salad.

Nagasaki has always been my favorite. We took a few years off from eating here and returned the other night to be disappointed. The show was nonexistent. We were sat as a table of 10, which was so cramped two people had to sit on corners. The kids from the other party whined about there not being any fire(and let’s be honest, I wanted to whine too, but I’m an adult, dangit) until the chef opted to try to do a small fire on our mushrooms with a match. Well, he burnt himself, AND he got the fire obnoxiously close to my three year old. Food was good, though.

The food here is absolutely delicious, and the cooks really know what they’re doing. The place is a little old, and the décor can seem a bit dated, but the food is what it is all about! I have been coming here to celebrate birthdays and graduations since I can remember, and Harold, the owner, is always funny and friendly. I almost always go for the Teriyaki Chicken with fried rice(hands down the best fried rice in Memphis), which comes with salad and soup. The salad dressing is yummy and the soup is to die for. You also get mushrooms, squash, zucchini, and bean sprouts! I always have leftovers to take home. Be sure to get the 2 for 1 coupon in the Friday Commercial Appeal! :)

This place is horrible. It taste horrible. They charge you per drink refill after you’ve taken 5 refills. Very rude. Not even worth the coupon we had. Don’t waste your time.

My husband and children and I were treated to Nagasaki by out of town relatives for our 5th wedding anniversary. The hibachi cook was very entertaining and the steak, chicken, shrimp, and lobster was delicious. My son is a very picky eater. He ate all of his steak. I was surprised that he ate his salad because the only dressing he likes is ranch but he enjoyed their dressing. The sushi that my husband and sister-in-law ordered was great. I’m not big on sushi but after having a piece of theirs I wanted more. I enjoyed going for the special occasion. Unfortunately we will only go for special occasions because it is pricey.

The salad is very plain. Just lettuce and like four slices of carrot. The salad dressing is just ok but they sure seem proud of it. The soup is very disappointing also as there are three or four slices of mushroom and a little hint of onion. Again the fried rice is very below average. I’ve had better from the freezer in the grocery. The grilled hibachi is amazing though. Shrimp, chicken, lobster, and steak are really really good. The sushi I had was also rather amazing although I did feel put out when I had to open the menu and look up the sushi number because the waitress does not have the capacity to take an order by the name of the sushi. For example you cannot simply order a lobster roll. She insists that you open the menu yourself and tell her number 40. The chefs are really the best part of the whole meal. They really are good at what they do and have to put on a show as well as cook an incredible meal. It was a good dining experience but maybe not the best ever. The exhaust grills look awful. Maybe they are being cleaned but they certainly are not stainless. It brings down the appearance of the entire restaurant. Also the grease from the exhaust runs down the entire roof and looks bad on the outside.

This is probably my favorite Asian restaurant in town. Don’t get me wrong, the facility is dated, old, dingy, smoky, and so on, but a) I think it adds to this places charm, and b) I don’t go to a restaurant for ambiance, I go for excellent food and good service; let me tell you, this place has both. Every time I’ve come here, I’ve come for the hibachi, which is always a fun experience. You are sat around a large table with other people you’ve never met before(unless you bring a group large enough to occupy the table), so you get a chance to meet new people and engage in conversation, which is usually interesting(if this sounds cringe-worthy to you, then don’t come here, because dining with you will be cringe-worthy to everyone else). You get your choice of hibachi(I always choose combo) and it comes with a salad and soup. I will admit, I do not like brothy soups and do not see the reason for the craze around their salad dressing, but it is such a protected secret that you cannot take your salad home, for they do not want their dressing replicated. Then the chef comes out to prepare everyone’s food right there at the table; it becomes dinner and a show. The people who work here are very friendly and remember their frequent customers, and the food is always excellent. This is also the one reason to get a copy of the Friday paper(because who reads newspapers anymore?); BOGO coupon for this place! That coupon makes this place a good value for great food and an excellent experience. What more could you ask for? Five stars!

Nasty good. Inconsistently good. Crime scene atmosphere. It’s like something could go terribly wrong in this place, but we keep coming back for the food.

Love this place! Been going there since I was a kid! The décor is not the most up to date but they always have an excellent health score. They were actually on andys restaurant scorecard one night with a 99 A on the scorecard! The chefs always tell funny jokes and entertain! It’s a family favorite for sure! Be sure to take a coupon out of the playbook:)

You have got to be kidding me about this place… First of all, the décor is absolutely redonkulous! We looked at the health score-95. I have no idea how they scored that high. Here are the cons of this experience(basically everything): The waiter wouldn’t allow my husband to substitute rice for vegetables. So basically they gave him a mound of bean sprouts(weird), and other misc. vegetables that he wouldn’t touch. WHYWOULDN’T YOUALLOW A SUBSTITUTION? Then our waiter asked if we wanted fried rice. I asked what my other option was and he said, «nothing.» When we received our check we had a $ 3 charge for rice. I asked a waitress why we were charged for rice and she said steamed rice is the option that came with the entrée??? The other guy literally told me all we could get was fried rice. Coke refills cost .46?! Okay? Possible bullet hole in the wall… I can’t even describe the taste of the salad dressing… maybe smoked sesame mayonnaise honey mustard poop. The shrimp tasted old. Over priced for this random assortment of oddness. Unilocalers, I am never this critical but y’all don’t understand the awfulness we just experienced. I am shocked about all the positive reviews of this place!

This is one of our favorite places to eat here in Memphis. You can’t beat the price when using the weekly coupon. The food is really good and the staff does a great job. My wife and I go there on special occasions and get acquainted with the people at our table to make it an enjoyable experience. STRONGLYRECOMMENDED!!!

This place has been in my life since I was a kid. I have celebrated birthdays, graduation, you name it. Always a good experience. Never a bad meal. The coupon is always a good idea. $ 17 for 2 full-course meal. Bonus! More money for the great Japanese imports like Kirin and Sapporo beer. Have to wait? They have an awesome cocktail menu and a chair at the bar. It’s how date night is done.

One of my favorite places to eat in Memphis. Been going for 20 years, usually on my birthday. The salad is the draw for me, but they keep the recipe under lock and key. You can take a to go box of everything but the salad. The rest of the food is good too. I agree with everyone else on the décor, it’s old and outdated but who cares as long as I get that salad. A great place to go with a group. Can’t beat the prices with the coupon.

The over and the under, an old restaurant that’s been in Memphis forever! It’s so known as the cheapest place to get Hibachi that even their staff will turn you onto the 2 for 1 coupon if you don’t have one, that runs in the CA! My dining exp went like this, table for 16 split between 2 tables. Great company I ordered the steak n shrimp hibachi. The waiter was undaunted by the confusion surrounding who was on who’s coupon took orders and the cooks were good! Not the best but the food was palatable! A man at our table ordered the steak n shrimp same as me. His smelled funny, it put me right off… I’m sure a restaurant, noted for«cheap dining«which is the gimmick btw. We should expect less than top quality product … But when the question was if it was rotting??? Line drawn The up shot the service(save for no offer of reducing the price) which was $ 27 fir my end after the 50% off… I could have fed 2 ppl during dinner at one if the finer hibachi places for $ 50. With a ridiculous amount of sushi included… Not going back kids!

This place has is a total blast from the past, in the best way possible. The place(and the drink menu) are straight out of an episode of Mad Men. The hibachi is tasty and not too expensive. The seafood is fresh and the lobster hibachi is less than $ 30. Goes great with the vintage cocktail of your choice.

This is how much my husband and I LOVE Nagasaki Inn. I had to have an emergency root canal yesterday afternoon, but I am not canceling my reservation for Nagasaki Inn tonight! Pain be damned, I am going to order the fried rice, extra salad dressing(the best in the world) and the Teriyaki Chicken and Shrimp combo. There is no better hibachi anywhere. That’s my story, and I am sticking to it. Oh, don’t forget your coupon. This restaurant has published a buy-one-get –one-free coupon for like 40 years. It’s somewhere in the Commercial Appeal. Maybe the Playbook? The table will laugh you out the door if you don’t have it. And the server probably won’t know how to ring you up. Enjoy!!!

Hands down one of the best places to eat in memphis! Food is absolutely delicious! I’ve eaten here 20+ times and never had a bad night! I dig the 70s décor. Salad dressing is the best I’ve ever had! 5+++++ stars!

Sometimes I just want hibachi without getting dressed up or spending $ 100. If you are in such a mood than this is your place. Get a Friday paper for $ 0.50 and get the coupon, everyone uses a coupon there — EVERYONE! It’s about $ 15 to $ 20 for a combo and you get $ 16.95 off the 2nd, fried rice is a few $$ extra but worth it. You’re looking at $ 40 ish for 2 with tax and tip. So, now you know why to go. Please keep in mind that you get what you pay for, this place is old and low on the glamour. It’s not«dirty» just very worn and you will leave reaking of smoke. Ambience aside it’s your typical hibachi experience. I’ve never had a bad meal or felt the food quality was questionable. It’s not a glamorous part of town either but I’ve never felt unsafe.

This is affordable hibachi. You have to overlook the dirtiness of the place. It’s quick, tasty, and it’s been around for decades. Everybody brings the half off coupon from the paper(playbook) that comes out Fridays and that’s why they come. $ 16.95 off, every time.

Nagasaki Inn is sort of like the Pete & Sam’s of Japanese food. Time inside the restaurant seems to have stopped somewhere around 1965, and the space is laden with the nostalgia of past birthday dinners and special occasions. While Nagasaki Inn has a full menu and plenty of sushi options, I went for the hibachi lobster dinner. My dinner buddy and I were seated at a large communal table with another couple and a lone woman who seemed to be one a dinner date with her bluetooth. The center of the table was a large cooking surface. A chef came to the table and prepared the food in front of us with a sizeable ammount of fanfare. Vegetables were enthusiastically chopped, bowls of rice were flipped expertly behind the chef’s back and shrimp were flung into the air with gusto. The meal arrived on my plate in pieces — first, there was a pile of sauteed vegetables seasoned with soy sauce and sesame seeds. Then came a big bowl of fried rice. My meat came out last, huge chunks of lobster with soy sauce and spicy mustard for dipping. All of the dinners come with clear soup, salad and fried rice. The soup is fairly standard(but tasty) and the rice is prepared on the hibachi grill. While the salad’s peanut dressing was good, I wish it had been on top of something more than just chopped iceberg lettuce. Because the hibachi dinners at Nagasaki are sort of like a show, it’s a pretty kid-friendly place(read: they’ll be plenty entertained). If you want to try it on the cheap, you can usually find two-for-one tickets in the Go Memphis suppliment in the Friday Commercial Appeal. Nagasaki Inn is open for dinner seven nights per week. They have a full bar and accept all major credit card
