Cute store with an eclectic assortment of books. Bought a gift of two hardback children’s books(not heavy volumes). They charged $ 9.50(on a $ 30 purchase) to send it. And they mailed it US Parcel Post(slower than first class mail). As a business, shouldn’t they have a UPS or Fedex account? As much as I love to support independent booksellers, they make it really hard when they charge the cover price AND sales tax AND then charge a lot to mail it… very slowly.

My girlfriend and I went shopping for my little nephew. Pinocchio is a gem with wide varieties of children books. The staffs were informative and knowledgeable. We definitely found perfect gift for him.

Pinocchio’s has been open in a small, bright orange house on Brookhaven Circle for 34 years. The shop is small, but there are a ton of books, educational toys and games crammed into the space. They’ve got a ton of picture books for beginning and younger readers, and plenty of early-reader chapter books. There are also young adult and older reader books, but the selection is mostly limited to classics and notable books. The serial classics from my youth — Babysitter’s Club and Sweet Valley High — weren’t there, but they did have a small collection of American Girl books. Two of the shop’s three rooms are filled with books. The third is set aside as a story time room. There are some games, tons of giant stuffed critters and plenty of chairs. Pinocchio’s is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. — 5 p.m. Story time happens every Friday at 10:30 a.m.

I have quite the affinity for children’s books. Not sure why it is, but something about the books of my childhood makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Pinocchio’s is the perfect place to find all your old favorites– and even some new. This place is adorable with a capital A. They have a huge selection that rivals most children’s sections at large chain book stores. What I love most about Pinocchio’s is how much they cater to the children of Memphis. You’d be hard pressed to find another book store that offers story hour(Pinocchio’s does folks!) and encourages fun and excitement from books. I was always a book worm as a kid, and I find it extremely disheartening to see how many kids flock to video games and movies instead of the pages of a wonderful book. This place reminds me of Meg Ryan’s little shop in You’ve Got Mail. It’s cute and quaint and very cozy. The staff is insanely friendly and helpful– and they make reading fun. Anything that encourages the use of imagination is sheer perfection in my book. Pinocchio’s does just that, and offers up these books at really reasonable prices. I heart you Pinocchio and will be bringing my nonexistent offspring to your store front for Friday Story Telling as soon as they reach a good age to do so.

Pinocchio’s is a cute little children’s bookstore off of the beaten path in Brookhaven Circle. Make your way to the brightly colored house to find a treasure trove of children’s books and toys, including adorable handmade puppets and marionettes. You can take your kids to Story Hour every Friday at 10:30, and be sure to check out Pinocchio’s birthday party. This is the place to find great children’s gifts, and an added bonus? Pinocchio’s offers free gift wrap.
