Steak ‘n Shake

Made a quick stop in Steak N Shake for a freebie the cashier was quick and efficient nice with a smile as she gave me my order and the food hot and fresh and good as well.

Awful. Only gave one star because I couldn’t give zero. Had to wait forever for somebody to stroll over to take order. Food was decent for this chain, but service was horrid. I literally had to go back and get our own milkshakes. They’re on the menu and ordered to be the meal’s drink and we were halfway done with meal and still no shakes. When I asked about them, I was told they’d be out shortly. Finally, I walked back there and there they were– fixed and everything. For some reason waitress just refused to bring them to us. 2^nd time I’ve been to this specific restaurant and 1^st time was just as bad. WILL NOT BE BACK.

It doesn’t matter how the food tastes, this place is nasty. Dirty floors and tables. We were not seated so we seated ourselves, and the waitress seemed annoyed and made sure to correct us. The food was greasy and not hot. Ugh!

Service very slow… Family behind us complained they had waited to long to manager who offered a refund. They never got their food and the left… We waited approx 30 mins… Way too long for a hamburger.

Nasty parking lot, nothing was stocked at tables… waited ten mins for a server to notice me (it was empty inside). Service was subpar. Food tasted good… didn’t need to hear cooks and staff yelling loudly about how nobody wanted to clean…

The service is extremely slow. We waited in line for 25 minutes and finally drove away. It’s called cast food for a reason. I won’t go back.

Get ready for mediocre service and greasy burgers… It’s just the right amount of good and ghetto.
You won’t get cussed out for changing your order midway but you might get an attitude at the window. Whatever, get over it and get me a greasy burger!
Cajun burger is pretty legit, I’m just speaking the truth.
Thin fries are FIRE!

The food is decent, the service is friendly, but the time to prepare a simple patty melt and fries takes too long, even when the restaurant isn’t busy. This was a to go order, although I’ve experienced similar lengthy waiting times dining in. Their shakes are a guilty delight, however, I wouldn’t stop here if in a hurry. Call it in if you have to have something from here, as it seems the called in orders were ready when the customers walked in. I waited so long for my sandwich, I was able to sense the pattern.

HORRIBLE! They had dust mites falling from the lamps that is just CAKED with dust, service is slow, and we found A PIECE OF PLASTIC in one of the burger patties! DISGUSTING! Do NOT support this establishment!

We are road tripping across the country and this was the only steak and shake in the 200 mile radius… I should have heeded the poor reviews because the service was slow, the waitress did not bring out straws, dressing for my salad, and did not ring in some of the drinks I ordered to go. When I went to pay for the rest of the food and order the shake to go, the manager who took my money did not even apologize for the mistake. I have currently been waiting 15 minutes and the shake is not in sight. Avoid this place at all costs of you can.

Last time I was here was the last time I will ever be here. The floors were coated with old grease. I was literally afraid to lift my feet to walk across the floor. Instead I had to glide across like I was ice skating. Which sounds like fun, but it wasn’t.
And the server reeked of cigerette smoke as if she smashed out her butt and walked immediately back to the table without taking a moment to stop by the sink to rinse (nevermind wash) her hands.
The floors may have been cleaned by now and that server may not work there anymore, but I’ll never know cause I won’t be going back.

So– there are bugs climbing out of the seam between the window sill and the wall. That was interesting to see.
The queso burger I ordered was a see-​through thin air piece of meat and a plain bun. There was no queso for this queso burger.
The server was nice enough but slow– really slo– and did not fix either problem. We even showed her the bugs.
I didn’t expect much– just a cheap meal and a decent shake– but this was shocking.

Absolutely horrible! We had been in there for 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Other patrons came and left tired of waiting during the hour we were in there. Ironically… there were 9 people cooking and it took over 30 minutes for 3 burgers and 2 turkey clubs. I’ve been to lots of Steak and Shakes and this one was terrible. Also, one group left and the waitress yelled and said they threatened them! CRAZY!!!

I love Steak n’ Shake’s but steer clear of this one. Service is slow, food is just ok. Very understaffed for a fast food restaurant.

I was a little surprised when I ate at this place. I wasn’t really sure about going. I would say the food is alright. The prices are really good. If you are looking for a quick burger that is good then give it a try.

The food wasn’t terrible but the people who work here are.
Not to go into detail, but it’s obvious the late night crew is on drugs. Our server snuck up on us, mumbled to himself and proceeded to holler across the restaurant to us about refills. The situation was confusing– two different people took our order but neither of them could understand that we wanted this: two burgers, one with salsa and one with jalapeños.
Also the employees were filthy. I’ve never seen such dirty staff. Our server took 4 smoke breaks while we were there, never once washed his hands and reeked of cigarettes. Holey shoes, stained half-​tucked shirt into some grungy pants that were 5 sizes too big. I wanted to leave immediately but my friend wanted to stay– he later regretted that.
I will never return to this place, especially after the smart remarks they made once we were leaving.

I was a little wary about the low star count when I visited, but in spite of the busy time my server was completely committed to ensuring my satisfaction. I had a VERY happy ending there and she was rewarded accordingly with the tip!

Service is terrible. The workers pow wow I. The back and stay there. Food takes forever to come out, and then it’s not right. Waited 30 minutes for silverware and a napkin. Finished an entire shake before my food ever came out. Tables remain unbussed. Totally not impressed. New management, new team please. Totally pissed!

I’ve had some bad breakfasts… never thought much of it… but today at the steak and shake on hacks road I experienced the worst ever. First, service doesn’t exist… should make it self serve. The eggs were the size of pigeon eggs, the hash browns were so greasy you’d need a straw to eat them, toast Had to be sitting around for awhile. Finally? The place was absolutely filthy; I mean disgusting filthy… never again.

Steak n Shake will always hold a place in my heart, as it was the only place I could call up in middle of the night, and order 10 Wisconsin Butteries, a boat load of fries, and a Vanilla Coke so I could give to my employees as we would literally freeze our asses off in the cold weather. It got to a point where I wouldn’t even have to say my name, they would just recognize my voice over the phone. Is that something to be shameful of?
When I saw that an SnS was near the new house, I was ecstatic. No, I haven’t made any late night runs yet (however a heart attack does sound good about now), but I am sure in the distant future it will happen…
I wanted to make sure that is was the same thing, and that my eyes were not playing tricks on me, so I went ahead and got some food. Sure enough, same menu, same décor, and same greasy goodness! My mouth is watering thinking about it…
The drive through can take a while sometimes, but as everything is made to order, patience is rewarded here. Hell, they even warn you, so you cannot get pissed about it.
I am gonna keep this one short and sweet, but I am just glad to know one is close by!
