I keep trying Tart but it consistently has me disappointed. The first 6 months they were open, I had delicious Quiches, Croque Monsieur, coffees, pastries. My last two experiences there are just not great. I had a chèvre and radish Quiche that the crust tasted old and was so hard it wasn’t edible. Really weird. It was also a small, thin slice served with a leafy, mixed lettuce salad that had a ton of a raspberry type dressing on it. I also tried the French Onion soup. Very, heavy wine taste. Just not enjoyable. My server recently was very nice. The last time I was came several months ago, they forgot my food entirely. I had to get up and ask the guy who was talking with a co-worker if I was going to receive my food. The beautiful food they served when the first opened seems to be missing. I’m not sure what happened. I want this place to be better than it seems to want to be.

Incredible restaurant. The menu and service are just what Memphis needs… expect a five-star experience with excellent humble staff. It’s simply a great mix. It’s a great place for a «Guys Weekend» or for Sunday Family Brunch… And I’ve done both at Tart. Take your time with the menu, and especially«Sleepy’s» specials because you don’t want to miss anything. Enjoy!

Quaint little spot! Adore the arty décor and the conversion of this small house into a coffee/pastry shop. Service was quick & friendly, and everything we ordered was hot, fresh and delightful. It is not quite roomy, so I would not propose going as a big group, but for a brunch date it’d be fantastic!

Came for lunch on Mother’s Day and was surprised that it wasn’t really busy… maybe the crowd came early. I just know that I had the special brioche, which was steak, potatoes, chimichurri and aioli and it was off the charts delicious. I am a French teacher and want to bring my students here to try all the lovely French recipes I saw on the menu. I don’t think the prices were bad considering the obvious quality of the ingredients. I will certainly return.

Food was good, but not anything out of the ordinary. French press coffee was yummy, but a small was only 1 cup. To go coffee was much better. Breakfast cost $ 32 — way too expensive for what we got.

Really cute place… this was my first time here and it was delicious, I thought I would get a little more portion wise BC of the price, but other than that I have no complaints about the food, it was very tasty. The wait staff was great and made a great coffee recommendation… About the building itself… It is on the small side for large groups – I wouldn’t suggest over 4 unless you call ahead… also the chairs could be bit more sturdy/comfortable…but perhaps this will come with time? Hopefully…

I took my daughter to Tart yesterday after school not realizing it was almost 30 minutes before closing. Sorry Tart! We were both hungry and she begged to get sushi after school but I wasn’t interested. They were so nice and didn’t act rushed to get us out. We decided that if it got too close we would just pack it up and eat the rest at home. We were served quickly — but without a hurried manner — our delicious looking meal. It was not only delicious looking! We grabbed a few pastries before leaving and am so glad we did. I got Le Croque with ham and tomato(YUM) and my daughter got the salmon brioche. She’s a salmon lover and was not disappointed. We took home a couple of macaroons and a chocolate croissant. I wish we had taken more! Afterward my daughter decided she was glad we had not gone for sushi and wants to return today :)

Good food, fast friendly service! We stopped by for Sunday brunch. It was a slow day we walked right in and found a seat immediately. Servers were quick and observant. We both ordered he breakfast sandwich. It came out fast. Tasted like everything was fresh homemade. I noticed on the menu there’s no corkage fee so I assume you can bring your own champagne for brunch cocktails. They have a nice patio. I enjoyed the character of the old house turned restaurant. They even have free wifi. I will definitely be returning!

I was excited to try Tart, as it’s a place I’ve been told is really great. I’m not usually a complainer because I’m not a picky eater, and can almost always find something I like. I couldn’t decide on what to order for brunch because it all looked so good, so I asked the server if she recommended anything and told her I love eggs, veggies, meat. really anything. She mentioned a new sandwich they had made with salmon and a dill + something else reduction and I thought it sounded great! I ordered the Café Miele and it was ok… lots of foam for a latte, and very little milk and kind of lukewarm. I wasn’t expecting the salmon to be uncooked, but took a couple bites. Like I said, I’m not a picky eater, but I just did not like this sandwich at all. I left one half of the sandwich untouched and only took two small bites out of the other half, but the server never asked if anything was wrong(especially because my plate was full and my friends’ plates were nearly empty). She took our plates at the end and asked if I wanted a pastry when she came back with our check since I guess she realized I didn’t like it, but I wasn’t interested. I would’ve rather been offered a discount or a different meal when she came around to check on us. I don’t like to be a customer who complains about food(because I’ve worked in food service and I know how that goes.) so I was hoping she would’ve asked if something was wrong. I should’ve said something sooner, but didn’t want to come off as rude. It was a bit frustrating because most places would quickly offer a replacement. I guess a more proactive service would’ve helped make the experience better. I’m honestly afraid to send food back because I’ve heard too many horror stories about people who’ve worked in food service. Not assuming that would happen here, but I’m too hesitant to speak up without being asked.

Super quaint restaurant with great food! The restaurant wasn’t super busy and had a nice vibe. The seats were a little uncomfortable but not too bad. I ordered the Croque Norwegian and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! However, it was a little on the pricey side. I ordered my Croque and a pastry and my total came out to be around $ 20 with tip. This was a bit more than I like to spend on lunch. Also, my friend ordered a side salad and it seemed to just be a few pieces of lettuce with a couple tomatoes on top. Nothing to write home about which is disappointing when it was $ 5. Overall, I would definitely suggest it to a friend looking for great French food. I would love to come here again next time I am in town.

First impressions: the chairs aren’t very forgiving — you couldn’t lounge around on your laptop comfortably even with the free wifi. However, the atmosphere is cute and clean for a quick coffee pick up. Not very wheelchair accessible. I ordered a soy caramel latte and a chocolate croissant. $ 1 for soy milk is a little expensive… Would recommend they decrease the price for soy milk. The latte was very strong and a little bitter, but depending on your taste for coffee it could be amazing(I’m just not a fan of really bitter coffee). The croissant was absolutely delightful — very buttery and the perfect mix between flakey and bready.

Wow, what a disappointment. I preordered a bouche de noel for my family Christmas dessert. The cost was $ 35. I couldn’t believe what I received for $ 35. It took a picture of it next to a Comcast remote but can’t figure out how to post it. Let’s just say I’ve seen a certain male body part that was bigger. I gave it one star because it tasted good. I was under the impression that I was going to receive this beautiful bouche from an extremely particular French Pastry Chef… WRONG!!! Let just say I won’t be going back.

The authenticity of Tart is unreal. Quality, amazing food and friendly staff. One of my favorite spots to grab a coffee and snack and work for a bit.

Quintessentially quaint midtown location that delivers big on their food. Their Croque Monsieur took me back to the ones I had in Paris. Their tarte citron is divine. Today’s tartine was ridiculously good. Our waiter told me that the farmer literally pulled up out back while we were there and delivered the egg that was cooked to top my dish. We even ate all of our fresh pea salad. I somehow made room for the individual buche de Noël as my treat. Well worth it. Their breakfast is all delicious, too. French press smells amazing. They have a nice patio that is pet friendly. They will occasionally host local art shows which are always fun. As with everywhere else in Midtown, parking can be a challenge, though they do have spaces in the back. They have free Wi-Fi, and you always see people working or having small meetings there. A gem in the Cooper Young neighborhood.

Yall just don’t understand my love for this place, the thirst is sooo real people. The renovated house is really nice and I’m in love with their breakfast antipasto, you never know what you will find on your tray. Usually it’s a boiled egg, brie, dried meat, fruit, a small baguette, great cheese, and a honeycomb. I always get a small french press and cream(which is good for about 3 cups of coffee). I never leave without my favorite honey almond pastry either. Even though it’s French food, I’m always satisfied when I leave, not stuffed but satisfied. Their French onion soup is everything you want it to be, very addictive… and dangerous. During my first visit to Tart my mother asked the guy at the counter if they had anything low fat, he asked if she had ever seen a fat French woman… I would happily be the first. I love Cooper Young, and after eating at Tart its so nice to talk a little walk around the area. They are cool with you bringing your dog with you to eat on the patio too. I’m on the lookout for a beret for my mini schnauzer as I type.

I definitely want to go back. I met a former colleague here for brunch. I got the hot chocolate, Croque Monsieur, and a chocolate almond croissant and something I can’t remember for dessert to go. No, I didn’t need dessert and yes, I ate both treats before I made it home. Back to what I actually consumed at the restaurant. The hot chocolate was rich and creamy AND quite delicious. The main event, the Croque Monsieur was better than I could imagine. Right amount of ham and gruyère– and the bread, ciabatta was fresh and just plain good. My colleague had quiche-can’t remember what kind but she was equally in love with it-I like my quiche a little overdone(I know I’m weird) so if I ever order this I will have to request for them to put mine back in the oven. All in all great meal.

When it comes to Tart, I am torn. The croissants and coddled eggs are where it’s AT, but the service and the pricing are borderline ridiculous. At work, we have a joke that goes something like this: Person 1: I’m going to Tart to get coffee; want anything? Person 2: Nah, see you next week. It’s really infuriatingly and ambivalently slow. The number of instances when I’ve stood by the register dumbfounded at the length of time it takes for the staff to put a pastry in a box to-go is ludicrous. On top of that, the prices are high for what you get, even if what you get is delicious and darling(I’m looking at you, four-cheese quiche with your side of the world’s tiniest baked apple). Four stars for food(when you finally get it), 2 stars for service: 3 stars average.

Tart is cute and totally 150,000,000,000,000,000,000,000% hipster approved. I can’t say too much about the place other than I got an apricot tart for $ 4 without tax, and it tasted divine. I don’t typically like apricots that much, but this hit the spot. As far as my friend goes — she got the garlic leek soup which had a little more of a cream base than she or I cared for when I tasted it. Menu items are not cheap — if you get a sandwich, you’re looking at $ 10 – 13 per item. I am accustomed to paying this in DC, but in Cooper Young? The times are changing, I guess. The sandwich I did see one girl has sitting next to us while on the patio wasn’t substantial. I am not saying the quality isn’t there because she did relay to us it was pleasantly good. Personally though, I think I would rather spend my money elsewhere in the area with as many offerings as they are. I can’t blame a place for prices if there is a market for people who will buy the product. Just saying I probably would use this more as a pastry/coffee/quiche place than sandwiches or salads. It is nice they have these additional features though. — They have local art on display throughout the restaurant. — Staff are friendly — Dog friendly place with room for your doggies to hang with you on the large patio in the front of the building. — Mommies, they have a changing table for your baby in the restroom. All around I think this is a quaint place — worth visiting again for sure… just not for the sandwiches because I am cheap.

Cute French bistro in the Cooper Young district. There was a slight mix up in our food order, and the chef came out personally to apologize and even brought us a little goodie to munch as a good gesture. Food was delicious, a lot of cheese on the croque! The onion soup could’ve used a tad bit more salt, but the cheese made up for it! Why bother with ordering a small coffee press, get yourself a large! Enjoy it all on their spacious patio. Will definitely venture on back!
