About 6 months ago, some seriously sore back muscles compelled me to head to The Spa Midtown for a massage and am I ever glad I did! Their prices are competitive and I had heard great things about the place. My therapist, Kenny, explained how a deep tissue massage with oil that contains Arnica could give me some real relief. It was only a $ 10 upcharge so seemed like a deal to me. Hands down,(no pun intended), it was the best massage ever! I joined their membership club, which is a real money saver. For only $ 99 a month I get to have a 90 minute massage every month! The membership includes lots of other stuff, too, I’ve gotten to know pretty much all the staff and when I walk in they greet me like I’m one of their favorite buddies. Everything about this place is 1st class.

The Spa Midtown definitely has the potential to be a first class spa in Memphis, especially considering there are so few upscale spas in the city. It’s located squarely in midtown/Central Gardens area and does feel quite like a retreat when you enter. The salon and nail center are downstairs and the spa is upstairs(elevator available). As for aesthetics — very nice! Its quiet, calming and music is typical but relaxing spa music. My masseuse, Sheila, gave me detailed info about the product line they use, which I quite enjoyed. As for my services, I got a lemongrass body wrap and a massage. The body wrap was top notch, the massage was… ehhhh…bleh. Unremarkable. On the body wrap, I got a great sampling of the product line, scrubbed down and then cocooned in some kind of plastic. Whatever it was, it was great and I got in a great nap. There are no showers in the individual treatment rooms, so I had to walk(robed) a few meters away to shower(no big deal bc no one else was there). After the body wrap I got a massage, which in comparison to other massages I’ve received was just a soft rubbing down. Apparently you have to pay an additional $ 10 to get any real pressure in your massage. Ultimately, it was still a great experience and I’ll likely go back, but I’ll try a facial and pass on the massage.

The Spa Midtown is easily the nicest spa in town. It’s like stepping out of Memphis and into a spa in a high end hotel in Chicago, NY or LA, it’s so aesthetically beautiful on the inside, so luxurious. They offer a huge selection of services from laser, injections, facials, massage, and nails. Sheila gives one of the best massages I’ve ever had. She is so professional. I love the way she reminds me to breath during the service and will start the session with breathing to get the relaxation off on the right foot. She told me once I was a brick wall and that she would turn me into a hedge by the end of the service, lol! The spa midtown has a super selection of high quality products too. I’m a big fan of the Kevin Murphy line and I love the organic skin care collection they carry(sorry, can’t think of the name just now). The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and I love that I get reminders of my appointments. Keep up the good work kids ;-)

Wow! I can’t believe this is the first review. While they have a great range of services this is my go-to place for threading services. Perhaps someday I will try their other services. Appointments are easy to make. The salon is clean and aesthetically pleasing. The staff is professional and personable. They will take the time to make sure you are happy with whatever service you requested.
