I lived at Uptown Square Apartments for two years, and I really enjoyed living there. We had a 2 bedroom Garden layout and it was gigantic. The window sills were wide enough to use as shelves; there was a built-in bookcase and plenty of storage. It was an easy walk to Beale, and a good run over the bridge to Mud Island. The office employees were wonderful, especially Melissa. She gave me a referral discount when an acquaintance moved in, but couldn’t remember my last name. Once i forgot to get a visitor’s tag for my boyfriend’s car and it got towed. I was so embarrassed! But when I spoke to the office about it, they arranged for us to pick up his car without having to pay a fee. The amenities were great: pool, fitness center, gated entrances, etc. And rent was totally reasonable here. I am SO glad I lived here and didn’t sign a lease anywhere on Mud Island. If the apts look a little dated, it’s because management is barred from updating them due to their historical significance. Elvis lived here during his childhood(?!) Maintenance and security were very helpful here. Memphis gets a bad reputation, but I always felt safe here. Very convenient to I-40 and Poplar, as well as downtown. I had some good times here, for sure.
