Marianella and Lisa did the hair and make-​up for three bridesmaids (including me) for a wedding I was in last weekend in Fort Bragg. Before I confirmed with Marianella, I quoted 3 other salons before I selected M Salon because I liked their portfolio and their prices were the most reasonable. Also, Marianella’s customer service was fantastic. I had a lot of questions and she answered them all promptly and politely.
The day of the wedding, Marianella and Lisa arrived on time and got the 3 of us ready in a timely manner. We loved our hair and make-​up!
If I am in need of hair and make-​up in Fort Bragg, I would definitely book them again. If you need hair and make-​up for your wedding, I highly recommend!

It has taken me a long time to write this review. I was so incredibly unhappy with the experience, I needed distance first. M Salon was recommended to me by a couple other vendors for my wedding reception in April 2014. Marianella technically did a great job with my makeup. I had a picture of me in a specific color palette from my ceremony (which was a different date and location) that I wanted her to match, which she saw in advance and was positive that she could match it almost perfectly. unfortunately, she completely missed the mark. The colors she used were much darker than the coral I had on in the picture from my ceremony. My mascara ran ALL night long. My friends and I were constantly wiping it up.
The hair was the biggest nightmare. Lisa clearly had never, ever worked with someone with really fine hair… or used a clip-​on hair piece to add volume. She took more than twice as long as she was supposed to. She curled my hair, then brushed it out. If you have fine hair, you know this is a cardinal sin. This is the first time in my entire life that a hairstylist couldn’t get curls to stay in my hair. It took her 3 – 4 tries to match the hairstyle in my original pictures. I get that it wouldn’t be perfect, but she couldn’t even get close. The biggest disappointment was that the curls completely fell out by the time I got back to the rental house to put my dress on (maybe 30 minutes later). Since she had taken way longer than scheduled, I missed half of the pictures (the photographer did all the pictures that didn’t have me in it). I completely missed out hanging with mine and my husband’s family during 90% of the photo session thanks to Lisa.
To this day, I look at the pics from my reception and hate them. My hair is a disaster (totally limp). My makeup is too dark for my extremely fair complexion. The price was double what I paid for my ceremony and wasn’t worth a single penny for what I didn’t get.
If you go here, do a trial first. If I hadn’t lived out of the area, I would have done that and would have known to go elsewhere.

She went so above and beyond to not only help me look and feel my best by arriving onsite to do my wedding hair in August in Fort Bragg, but I also am so appreciative to how much it felt like she cared for me during those hours of getting ready. I’ll never forget how she shared with me at the beginning of the appointment that her favorite part of doing wedding hair is that she gets a bit of time to take care of the bride, help her de-​stress, and truly help her feel cared for during what is an amazing but can be crazy day.
I did not do a practice trial but did have a few online pictures to share with her to guide her towards what I thought I might like. She immediately understood and agreed and from that point on I didn’t have to worry or think about my hair at all. She just seemed to just know what I wanted and took the time needed to create a casual but beautiful style that complimented my dress and personality so well. Not only that, but we had a lovely conversation about life, love, and travel during our hours together. We decided together the light would be great to get ready in the middle of the guest house, and I really think her energy and conversation helped to create this really organic time with her, myself and my girlfriends. One by one they would check in on me, then stay and hang a bit longer than expected. I didn’t have a wedding party, but it felt like this awesome special moment of connection of the women in my life I didn’t even realize would be so special before I married my true love. I’ll never forget Lisa, and am so thankful for her expertise and care on my wedding day. I can’t thank her or recommend her highly enough!

Marianella did my makeup on my wedding day and it was a good experience. Marianella was professional and nice. I wish she had more availability to do my hair too, but she was only able to squeeze me in for makeup. It was pretty pricy, but I think it was a good choice. I didn’t have a trial before, so I brought in a bunch of pictures from pinterest for what I liked, and I was happy with her end result. It was a pretty little salon, and comfortable.

I highly recommend Marianella & her talented staff for your hair and makeup! I had two black eyes from a softball injury right before my wedding. Marianella was able to cover them beautifully! My bridesmaids & I loved the beautiful curls. We felt like rock stars. Thank you ladies!!!

LISA IS AMAZING!!!
I hate getting my hair cut. I have curly hair and usually end up leaving the salon in tears because its either too short when it dries or totally lays wrong when I wash it the first time. Lisa was AMAZING. She is spunky and skilled, as well as contemporary and an OCD perfectionist. A true artist. I came into M Gallery because I saw some of the cuts she did on Unilocal.She gave me *exactly* what I wanted. I like Deco bobs with modern angles and even with my unruly curls, she excelled at what I asked for. I have finally found my «Go To» :)

The staff here is extremely friendly and works with their clients to produce excellent results. It is fun to see staff that likes being together.
Sydney did a good job transforming my wife’s hair.
The shop is nicely laid out, clean and attractive.
Give M Salon a try if you want a cut above the typical place.

Marianella did my hair and makeup for my wedding day, and she went above and beyond my expectations! She showed up at Spring Ranch in Little River the day of my wedding, set up her things, and created such a calming ambience. It was literally like hanging out with a good friend all morning. Her hair and makeup was exactly what I envisioned, it couldn’t have been any better. I am so glad that I got to work with Marianella, and highly recommend her to anyone who wants to make their wedding fabulous and memorable!

Marianella did such an amazing job on my hair and makeup for my wedding day. She took a picture I gave her and made me look even better. I love how she listened to what I wanted and gave me a dream look! I love doing my own make up and I was a little nervous but she did a fabulous look on me. I would recommend her to any one! I wish I lived closer because I would be seeing a lot more of her :-) Thank you so much for making me look beautiful on my special day!

A wonderful, positive experience!
Marianella talked me through my colour and cut. She asked the right questions and gave me a wonderful cut.
The salon is quiet, music (amy winehouse) enhanced the mood.
I had all the attention I desired and left feeling excellent about the experience.
Met my husband for dinner. he said hair too short (what man likes a short do?)
but said .cut is best you had in years. continue to see Marianella. but let your hair grow!
I will return and recommend the salon to all Mendocino residents and weekend travelers who just need a blow out, good colour or cut!

Myself, my mother and my sister had our hair done at Mantras for a wedding. We had Jocelyn and she did a great job. She had great ideas and gave good advice. Mantras was very flexible with scheduing appointments. We felt very comfortable when we arrived and Jocelyn was easy to talk to. We had two updos and one styling of short hair done. They gave us a good price, especially for the bridal updo. Thanks again Jocelyn and good luck with your buisness. I would recommend it to anyone!
