Besides the constant sparring and simulated combat, another attribute which Tom tried to impart to us was versatility.
In addition to training with both our primary and support hands, we also learned to utilize both the forward grip as well as the reverse grip then we used the various grips (of both hands) from both the lead and reverse stances in order to discover the the pros and cons of all the variables which may arise from the course of a fight. This is very much in line with what Musashi said about not having a favorite technique.
Another aspect of versatility which we worked on was our fighting platform. Not only did our training cover fighting on our feet, we also spent time acquainting ourselves with fighting from kneeling (single & double), and on the ground (both supine and face down) against opponents who were either still on their feet and mobile or in various heights and stages of compromised mobility in order to discern the advantages and weakness of all the positions we are likely to find ourselves in vis-​a-​vis our foe.
During the course of the day, Tom and his instructors/​advanced students would supervise our drills and fine tune/​correct/​make suggestions as needed.

My above review is based solely on what I experienced firsthand and there is so much more than I am qualified to comment on. Especially seeing how this was only my first training experience with AMOK!
