Although we enjoyed our meals, this restaurant is pretty far from the better Italian restaurants I’ve been to. Firstly, the menu is sort of limited on what my boyfriend and I like – pasta. The pasta options are all pretty similar to each other, and seemed to be bland as well. Secondly, the bread was a little dry, and the oil that came with the bread was not enough to cover the slices of bread. There was also a little too much garlic in that oil. Lastly, my order was pretty bland. I got the gnocchi al pesto, which really didn’t look or taste very special. It was definitely Italian food, but didn’t have the presentation of a dish made at a fine restaurant. I doubt we will be back, but it was a nice one-time experience in a truly beautifully decorated restaurant.

The worst food and service. I ordered the bruschetta and it was too garlicky. Then ordered Pollo Marsala and it was too salty and the risotto was just horrible.

Quality of the food is amazing. A little overpriced though. Customer service is awesome and décor here is beautiful. However, only come if you can afford to wait 20 – 30 mins for the food. The wait is long but the food is so good that most of the time, it’s worth it.

I’ve always passed this restaurant and finally went for dinner with my husband a couple nights ago. Located in the sleepy downtown menlo park, this restaurant was surprisingly not empty on the usual quiet Monday evening. We arrived a little bit after 7PM and the restaurant was half full. The service was on the«slow» side. There were two people working the front, one of them looked like the manager who also was the hostess and waiter for the night. The other one, she was the hostess, waiter and buss-girl, everything! It took about 15 minutes after we were seated for the manager/waiter to take our food order. We ordered the calamari appetizer and hubby got the Flank Steak and I got the Veal Melanzane. 5 minutes after, the dipping oil came but the bread came 10 minutes later. The long-awaited bread was unfortunately COLD, Stale and VERYDRY. The dipping oil was delicious but nothing to salvage the bread. We were very hungry so we did eat the bread. Upon reviewing their menu online, they boasted about how they bake their own bread daily from scratch. It was either a bad batch or they just had a bad recipe for the bread then! 30 minutes into sitting in the restaurant, the calamari arrived. Calamari came with mayonaisse-olive sauce. They used the more expensive cut of the squid(only the rings, no tentacles and they are all in large pieces), very tender and not overly cooked, but really there was nothing rave about. We had to wait for another 15 minutes before our entrée arrived. While both the steak and veal entrees that we ordered were good(not spectacular), the veal was overcooked and chewy. The steak was good and husband really liked the mushroom wine sauce for his steak. The potatoes that came as a side was very delicious. Not overly fried and well seasoned. While the whole entire meal was reasonably good(with the exception of the bread), I was very disappointed with the slowness of the service. The whole entire meal including finally getting our credit card back from them was 1.5 hours long and we were both fast eaters. The waitress didn’t come back to run our credit card until she finished clearing 2 tables and setting up 3 tables(replenish the napkins, silverwares, plates etc). Perhaps, they were understaffed? Their pricing was reasonable. most pasta are in the $ 17 range and around $ 20 for meat entrees. Our entrees were not huge but ok for the price. The $ 24 lamb shank entrée looked big and scrumptious.

The décor at the restaurant is beautiful. The location is ideal. The food was mediocre and over priced. I ordered the cheese stuffed ravioli in a pink sauce and it was around $ 15. I probably got 11 small raviolis and it wasn’t very filling. The complimentary bread and olive oil mixture was very good. Most likely won’t be revisiting unless a friend is treating and insists on this establishment.

Visited this establishment because I was craving authentic Italian with the wife. For the price, the food portion isn’t worth it. You’re paying the«location, accessibility and décor.» Food was ok, but nothing to rave about. We had the«penne con po» & «ravioli di» which were only ok

EXCELLENTSERVICE! Warm and friendly place! The restaurant was nearly full but we were greeted and seated right away without a reservation. It’s a quiet and cozy place for a weeknight family dinner. We highly recommend Insalata Alla Rucola, Penne Al Carciofi, Linguine with Jumbo Shrimp(forgot the name of this dish!) and a chocolate — vanilla ice cream desert. The main dishes were full of fresh ingredients and savoring sauce. We actually requested more bread to «wipe the dish clean.» They were just that good to the last drop! They also have lunch services with outdoor dining! Must try…

Excellent service, good comforting Italian food, and inexpensive wine — honestly one of my favorite places in Menlo Park. It’s usually fairly quiet, so you can almost always get a table walking in. Wonderful place to meet a friend for dinner or just get a decently-priced meal on a tired weeknight.

The food here was rather bland. It’s decent, but nothing special. It’s too bad the food was kind of meh, because otherwise this place was a great experience. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff were attentive and very accommodating of a late member of our party.

Ate here for light dinner. Not crowded for weekday and free street parking after 6pm. Ate mussel & clams, house salad, veal porcini, and water. Tried to eat low carb diet. Many items were pasta with something. Food was tasty and service was good.

I would give no star if possible! This place is not authentic Italian food. The food was horrible, because consisted of small salty portions and dry appetizers. Even my mixed drink was so diluted that it had no flavor. The service was beyond horrible, being that it took so long. It was so bad that we could even hear other patrons complaining. The lady seated next to us was so mad, that she got up and left. I should have followed her lead. I gave them a chance and they failed, don’t waste your time or money.

Stumbled upon this place trying to find an easy, go-to authentic Italian place with well known dishes like Picatta and all those crazy Italian pasta concoctions you can’t pronounce. I thought dinner was great, and I have a penchant for searing reviews, so I am surprised to read all of the negative reviews here. Luckily, we tried the place before reading the reviews. Went on a Sunday night, and got the best table in a little nook on the sidewalk that was spacious and private. I don’t think there were many staff working that eve, and they were constantly busy and pretty attentive to us. To be fair, I never even stepped into the actual restaurant, so i can’t comment on what goes on in there. The bread and dipping oil was very nice. For apps we ordered the Pomodoro Ripieno, and the Ceasar. The Ceasar was good, but different. It had a sweet flavor to the dressing. We opted out of the anchovies, whose saltiness would have balanced the dressing, but who would have also added the essence of ass juice to every bite. The Pomodoro was thickly sliced tomatoes with olives, anchovies(oops), and onions, and some olive oil drizzled on top. It was exactly what it said on the menu… and nothing more. For some reason, I though it would have been fashioned into something more complex… but it was good fresh veggies to snack on. For dinner, I had an old favorite that I havn’t seen on a menu in a long time: Veal picatta. It was lovely. I already have reservations to return to eat more of it. She had the(chicken) Lasagna. Chicken(lasagna). Chicken lasagna? Ok whatevs. It was… just as one poster described it… a lump of who knows what swimming in a «pink sauce». What the hell is pink sauce? This sauce was orange. Tomatoes and cream don’t make pink, they make orange, but don’t tell that to the Italians! The flavor profile on this dish was monotonous, kind of like the worst chicken tikka masala you have ever had; its still good. The texture of the hidden lump was soft and mushy. Maybe they forgot the chicken. A far cry from«non-chicken» lasagna, or lasagna. Why didn’t they just make lasagna with chicken instead of beef and sausage? This dish is good if you like soft food with mild flavor, perhaps something a doctor would order at a nursing home. We ordered the Tiramisu. It was very nice! And to boot, they have my favorite wine here, by the glass; a wine I never see in a restaurant. Ravenswood Zin, from that wonderful bastion of excellence we call Lodi, Ca. Overall, I was really happy to try this place, and going back… tomorrow. Its comforting to see all of the traditional Italian dishes, the sidewalk tables are a nice touch, and so far, the food has been solid, pretty cheap relative to the area, and many options to try on the menu, even a geriatric one. One more successful dinner here, and will bump up to 5 stars. Hopefully Angelo will continue to please.

Minestrone soup is disgusting Being close to Stanford you would expect a good place right? Wrong, mediocre food, needed tons of salt, lacking taste. No on was dining there when we arrived, that should of been a warning.

Had high hopes for this place. For $ 15 + bucks a plate the food better be good. NOPE everything was bland. Do your cooks taste the food before it goes out? Its called salt use it.

I’d go back but not wow’d on first visit. Our app was the stuffed artichoke with bread crumbs. Was expecting warm and crunchy. We got cold and squishy. Now I’ll say that the chef intended it to be cold. I just think a new direction would help that dish. Entrees were the ravioli special and gnocchi. The gnocchi was very good. The ravioli was a little al dente for my liking on homemade pasta. The sauces on all were good. The bread and oil didn’t live up to the hype. The oil has olives and garlic. Very tasty. Which is good because the bread was just ok.

Decent salmon salad; while the arugula and tomato’s were fresh, the piece of salmon was salty, thin and overcooked just a wee bit. My friend liked the penne pasta with meatballs. Décor: glitzy fancy; outside dining on a warm day is fine. Really 2.5 stars, but the service and décor was 3 stars.
