My 5 star rating is going to be purely for the food quality not the customer service because for a mom and pop restaurant I look for quality food at a good price especially when you are ordering to go not customer service. Incase you didn’t know this Applewood location, which is right across the street from the actual sit down Applewood restaurant is only for to go orders, so don’t come here to have a meal come here to order a meal. Customer service– Im ordering a pizza and their deliveries are phenomenal. The food was just like the actual restaurants and still felt fresh out of the oven when it was delivered to me, so if you want good service order a delivery otherwise if you are going to drive to the location I recommend just walking across the street to the sit down at the restaurant. Don’t let the service turn you away you order to go for the food not the service especially if you are going to drive to the location to pick it up and not have it delivered to you.

I’ve been ordering delivery from this location for 6 years, yes 6 years. Today I call and the first thing out of the woman’s mouth was delivery is a $ 30 minimum for your order. No name, no number taken. I said, I’ve never been told that before. So she says she’ll wave that policy this time and finally asks for my info and order. Then tells me, it is actually a $ 40 minimum for my neighborhood. WHAT!!! SERIOUSLY!!! Her excuse, well we’ve had 2 new cashiers, they don’t know the rules. Really? 2 new cashiers for the last 6 years? I asked her when this policy began and her answer again was, 2 new cashiers. I told her I’ve been ordering for 6 years to the same location and once again, too bad. You have lost my loyal business(over 20 years picking up, 6 years delivery), I will NEVER refer anyone to either of your establishments again. I will make it a point to let people know of this experience and send them to Amici’s.

3 times here and all very good. The crust is great and the condiments are fresh. Try the Menlo

Our family loves Applewood pizza. The crust is always perfect, the toppings are fresh and all their combinations are very good. They can also split 2 different groups of toppings in the same pizza if the family does not agree on one kind. We usually get the Margherita with any of the other combinations and it is always good. We love the thick dough and can’t have any other local pizza because nothing compares to Applewood!

Heard so much about this place«thinking» I would be a satisfied customer just like everyone else on here, I had the worst customer service, waited forever-mind u I was like the only person in that place at the time. I waited for my pizza that long and it literally had no flavor. I will not be coming back to this place. I don’t see what the buzz is all about!

Please see my review of their sitdown restaurant across the street: The pizza available at this location is exactly the same. Available in a no frills, call, get pizza, and go format. Quick in and out!

The 2-GO Applewood is an insult to the well-earned good reputation of Applewood Pizza,(the restaurant). The order taker on the phone was sooooo«laid back» with a «don’t worry about anything» attitude. My 1st hint that things would not go well. Long story short, he said it would be ready in about 20 minutes. We drove from Redwood City to pick it up. Add another 20 minutes to that 1st20 minutes. «You ordered the«Los Altos»…he opened the box to make sure it was the Los Altos and handed it to us. When we got home and opened the box, the«Los Altos» had mysteriously become«The Southwestern» which has chicken on it. It was undercooked and looked positively disgusting. I did not eat it. My husband ate it and did not feel particularly well after dinner. I called 2-Go. He said, again very casual, «oh…bring it back». I said, «No thanks, we live in Redwood City. One round trip was enough. Go to Applewood Pizza, the Restaurant… either in Menlo Park or in San Carlos. AVOID applewood 2-Go. Needs a good manager.

Pizza here has been consistently delicious each time we’ve ordered it. Whenever I’m hosting something and don’t feel like cooking, I let Applewood take care of dinner instead. The crust is thick and they are generous with toppings. However, the pizzas are on the doughier side so if you prefer thin-crust pizza this may not be your jam. Each time we’ve called in we haven’t experienced a long wait– our pizza has been ready for pick-up within 15 – 30 minutes max. Check online to see if any coupons or promotions are available and beware of over ordering. I keep forgetting the slices are HUGE, a Large should be more than enough for 4 people. We’ve tried the Hawaiian, Menlo Combo, and chosen our own toppings and have been quite happy with the results.

Disappointed with the undercooked Hawaiian tonight. Very doughy, the ham had the consistency of roast beef, and the cheese gritty. Go to the actual restaurant. The A2G sucks.

Great pizza! This comment, though, pertains to a manager and an Applewood delivery driver in a white pick-up, who blatantly ran a red light last night and almost broadsided me near University Avenue. I called Applewood To Go and asked to speak with a manager. After waiting on hold for a couple of minutes, an alleged manager came on the phone. I told him what had happened, just so he was aware of how this particular driver had behaved. He essentially blew me off, said«okay,» and hung up! I couldn’t believe it. He didn’t say he would talk to the employee, that they valued safety, thank me for taking the time to call them, nothing. He simply said«okay» and ended the call. This was terrible customer service, and this particular manager needs some serious training in accepting complaints from the public.

My go to place for pizza in Menlo Park — love the margherita pizza the most, but I’ve tried several of their pizzas and all are great. Definitely highly recommended.

We order from Applewood all the time. They’re very reliable and good when you want delivery for a large party or something like this. Pizza is fair and if this were anywhere else I’d rate it a solid 3 stars BUT it’s impossible to get delivery in Menlo Park so I’m giving it a 4 stars for convenience. It’s our go-to delivery option. Paxtis does deliver and we like it better but their wait times are ridiculous(especially for delivery) and make it pretty much not worth it. We’ve had Applewood delivered for some events and everything more or less turned out OK. Once they were very, very late but they threw in a free salad. If I had written this review then I’d probably have given it one star but time heals all wounds I suppose.

*** 4.5 Stars *** If you are ever ordering pizza to-go near Menlo Park, I would recommend Applewood pizza! I love their thin pizzas with a thick and fluffy crust. I always get the Menlo Combo which includes all of the following toppings: — pepperoni — salami — Italian sausage — mushrooms — black olives — red onions(i usually order it without the red onions and add tomato slices) You know you’re a Menlo Park native if you get the Menlo Combo; so join the bandwagon and take a visit to Applewood!

I love being able to call them, put on my shoes and coat, and walk and pick up my pizza. There have been many places I hate doing phone orders with because I can never understand them(not necessarily due to accent!) but I don’t have that problem with A2G. They are very good about estimating how long it will be — I almost never have to wait, but it is also not cold when I get it. Perhaps the pizza made at 2 Go isn’t as good as what you get when you sit down and order, but it is hard to tell if that is the effect of the pitcher of beer we always get when dining in. In addition to pizza, Applewood 2 Go also has lasagnas available for take-and-bake. While we’ve never done it, we plan to try it some day we don’t feel like cooking.

Really? This place is really overpriced! There are some hole in the wall places that are gems and ones that really are just hole in the wall places. I thought the place was dirty and dingy. The food didn’t make up for it at all. Waste of my time and money. I guess though if you like fluffy soggy pizzas then go ahead. Not my kind of pizza.

Focused on pizzas, pastas, salads and soups, their signature pizzas are my favs. Named after cities and places you’d want to go to, these pizzas are pretty good – they are gourmet. Tuktoyaktuk, NorthWest Territories(my favorite town of Northern Canada), has not yet made it into their list of pizza names, but then again, the Inuit taste for seal meat and beluga blubber has not yet reached Menlo Park… sooo, we have to settle for pizza names from glossy-travel-brochures… …I like their Budapest, of onions, bell peppers and Hungarian sausages; or their Acapulco, of ground beef, chilies and linguica; some people don’t like eggplants, but I do, so Athens is great. Take it to go, and eat it across the street at Café B, and people watch.

One day while waiting for an appointment I wanted a fast glass of wine. You know how that goes. With a mere 15 minutes to spare, off I set on foot to seek out my express wine. My first stop was Cooks Seafood who had nothing to offer but tiny airplane bottles of pseudo vino. Honey, if I wanted vinegar I’d run down to Safeway! I bolted from their lobby like a mad woman on a desperate mission and sprinted down El Camino hoping that by some act of Dionysus wine would flow from the sky or at least a half decent bottle from a local bar. I cross the busy street and see the sign for Applewood. Could it be possible that a local pizza joint would have the quality of wine I was looking for? Don’t be ridiculous. Just as I was ready to bolt again I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye. It was their window display. Could this be? Yes! The Gods be praised! It’s bottled wine of the finest vintages and it’s here, just on the other side of the door! Glory be! I open the door half expecting blinding rays of light to pour into the street and walk into the restaurant filled with lovely smells and, yes, wine. Good wine. Beautiful wine! The owner greeted me with a smile, cards me(I love you!!!) and pours me one of his glorious Cabernets. I raise the glass, swirl, smell. Delectable! The wine beckons me and I press the glass to my lips. *Insert phone ring here* I look at my iPhone. No. It can’t be. I answer sheepishly. «Hello?» *pause* *listen* «My appointment has been moved up?» What? No! I just got my glorious glass of wine, a wine that I worked for, sought out, hunted down. *pause* *sniff* *swirl* *smile* «I’m going to be a little late.» What started out to be an express glass of wine turned into an afternoon of lovely conversion with the delightful owner while enjoying the fruits of Dionysus. No appointment was important enough to take me away from that moment. PS — The pizza rocks!

Found this place walking around Menlo Park, mainly because we were not dressed fancy enough for the other restaurants in the area. Very busy place, that is a good sign. Food has a Hungarian twist to it. I had the goat cheese salad. It was a pretty big salad. Plus I had the Hungarian bread, that was like a fried donut without the sweet flavor to it. My friend ordered a personal pizza. She said it was really good. Plus she shared a slice with me, I like the crust. Other than that it was overall a good place to eat.

I guess Applewood Pizza defines the word gourmet when you are talking pizza. No we are not talking Straw Hat, Pizza Hut or Round Table. I have been to enough pizza places in the Bay Area to compare and this pizza stands out. Ordered the X-large Menlo combo(25.00) for four people and this was more then enough. 16 inches of thick crust filled with salami, pepperoni, sausage, red onions and olives. Sounds like an ordinary pizza– no it is the crust that sets it apart. The crust has this lively sheen and very delicious. Just the right amount of sauce and cheese so it does not overbear the other ingredients. Applewood offers 18 different combinations, plus the build your own pizza and they offer take out. Five types of salad are offered. Nice selection of beers and sodas to wash down the pizza. Worth coming back to …

A personal pizza with 3 toppings, a salad and a soda for $ 7.95 at lunch is a good deal, even for mediocre food, so I didn’t have high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pizza was a good size with a decent amount of toppings and a tasty, not too thick but not thin, crust. The salad is basic and made with iceberg so it’s nothing spectacular but the pizza is worth a visit.
