I’ve had an Avocet Vertech for years. It’s a skiing/mountaineering watch with an altimeter built into it for tracking how many runs you’ve skiied and what your total vertical was on a day. It’s been a great watch I love tracking my vertical and it’s also nice to have a watch you can easily wear outside of your parka. Even with the proliferation of smartphone apps this watch just seems like a simpler way to track runs and vertical than fooling around with my phone. Anyhow, after replacing my battery this season the altimiter/barometer didn’t seem to working correctly any longer so I sent it in to Avocet to see if they could service it. I don’t even remember when I got the watch — I think it’s around 10 years old. Had they said«sorry — this watch is too old to service» I wouldn’t have batted an eye. Instead, they did the repairs on it for $ 46(less than the $ 75 I authorized) and had the watch returned to me in two days. Needless to say I’m impressed by a company that stands behind a great product and am grateful to have my favorite ski watch working again.
