Jeanne Gitzen

Jeanne has be cut-​and-​coloring my hair for about 14 years and the results are always great: conditioned soft hair, natural color, and good styles.

I moved to Oregon in 2011 and still travel back to get my hair cut and colored by Jeanne every other month. It’s totally worth it, as she’s by far the best stylist & colorist I’ve ever found. If that’s not a ringing endorsement I don’t know what is!
Also, the salon has changed hands and has a new name, but Jeanne is still there. Salon name is Jasko Schroeder, and they did a great job upgrading the salon so now it feels even more swanky.

I loved going to Jeanne to do my hair. I was referred by a couple of friends who swore by her, and I was not disappointed. The only reason I stopped was because I moved out of state.
I’ve personally witnessed the most beautiful color work and should I ever do something with color, I’ll go back to Jeanne (even if I have to wait for another trip back to California to do it).
Jeanne always cut my hair and blended my long layers until they were invisible, creating natural movement that I never thought possible. I never got so many compliments as when Jeanne was doing my hair, and the true sign of a good ‘do is that the compliment isn’t on the cut, but the person. When considering different cuts or styles, Jeanne was always honest with me about what would be required to maintain it, and then let me decide which way I wanted to go with it. She suggested cuts that were flattering to my face, easily maintained (to fit my lifestyle), and fit my personality. I also watched as she did the same for other people, so I know she has an eye for the individual – no one-​style-​fits-​all here!
She always answered my naïve questions about her trade and she answered every one thoroughly and happily – she really loves what she does! She always made sure I knew just how to do what she did with my hairstyle so I could always look just as fabulous after leaving the salon. And though she recommended products, she never judged me for using ordinary brands from the drug store.
My budget couldn’t afford me cuts every month or something, so she always made sure my cut lasted as long as possible. Sure, her prices are higher than Supercuts, but the quality of the cut alone was enough to keep me coming back. But more than that, she’s really a cool person, and it was a pleasure to sit in her chair.

Jeanne is fabulous! I have thin, fine, curly hair and she makes it look full and thick. I always get compliments on the cut and color. What I love about Jeanne, is that she customizes the style for you. If you come in with a cut choice and she doesn’t think it will look good, she explains why and gives great suggestions. She also takes into account my commitment or lack thereof to making regular appointments and customizes color, cut and highlight so that it looks good until I finally get in again. She’s also easily accessible by phone, text and email which I LOVE! She’s in the normal Menlo Park price range which I consider pricey, but I’m frugal and think she’s *entirely* worth it!

Have you ever walked out of your hairstylist and felt like you ought to be in a shampoo commercial (you know, where the hair is lovely and perfect and waves in the wind?)? I hadn’t, until I started going to Jeanne. I love my hair when she cuts it, I love it when I get home and I even love it when I style it myself (she has re-​taught me how to do my hair every time I change styles, which I admit I like to do about once a year). Jeanne has done fabulous short styles for me, as well as helped me through the process of growing my hair out (she even helped me properly prep my long hair and cut it for me when I wanted to donate it). I have never had a bad haircut with her. And, a true testament to a fabulous cut– when I went camping and had nothing to style my hair with but my fingers and the air-​blower hand dryer on the bathroom wall, I still came out with a cute and sassy style! Oh, and I do know Jeanne is taking new clients, ’cause a friend of mine just started going to see her a couple of months ago (and she loves Jeanne too!)

Jeanne has been coloring and styling my hair since 2002. She is a genius when it comes to hair coloring. If you want natural looking color that will grow out well, then Jeanne is who you should go to. Her cuts are fantastic and I am always getting compliments on my hair. She is professional and honest about what hair styles will work for you. She also does wonders with naturally curly hair. I know she is taking new clients as I just asked her.
