I have had two horrendous experiences here. The first one was only my second time shopping at this store. The cashier was very sick, her face looked like she had the mumps, but here is the kicker… gasp. She picked the skin off her dry cracked lips while checking out people at the register… gag gag gag!!! I find this more of management issues that they would let someone that obviously ill work the registers! My other experience was the food. I noticed the grapes looked really old in the produce department, ok sometimes that happens. Then I went to look at frozen broccoli, except this didn’t look like any broccoli i’ve ever seen. It was yellow and brown and had obviously had been thawed, rotted, and re-frozen. There were many bags like this, some were filled to the brim with freezer burn ice. I don’t think that this food was even suitable for an animal. This was not hidden deep in a freezer case either. This was in a main aisle by the meat. I really worry about the elderly and people that don’t have good sight buying bad food like this. Sorry Pick ‘n Save but you’ve grossed me out twice, and that is two times too many for a place I buy my food!

My family and I used to go to the old(er) Pick’n’Save in Menomonee Falls on County Line Road until the shiny, new store opened. The switch wasn’t a hard decision to make after a family friend and Pick employee transferred from the old store to the new store, and told us how much better she was treated. Done and done. First of all, they offer free WiFi. Very nice, indeed. I continue to choose this grocery store over the 8309284309 others in my five-mile radius is due to their helpful staff. As I sat in their small dining area near the deli scoping their in-store flyer for specials, an employee stopped to ask if I had their weekly coupon book. Since I didn’t, she happily retrieved one for me. Bomb. Thanks for helping me to save $ 5 on a ton of cheese, sister! On another visit I was there a few minutes before the deli was fully open for the day. Having finished the rest of my grocery grappling, I decided to just sit and wait. Ready ahead of schedule and smiling cheerfully, the deli clerks got my turkey and cheese show on the road and sent me on my way. Fantastic. I don’t visit their liquor store very often, knowing I can find better prices and variety at Woodman’s or Otto’s; however, when I have stopped, I’ve always met an employee who was capable and helpful with out breathing down the back of my neck. What I don’t enjoy about this grocery store is how removed the produce department is from the rest of the store. Though located nearest the main entrance, it’s a cumbersome gallop from, say, canned peas to fresh broccoli, and you’re taken through check-out lines with an unwieldy shopping cart. Speaking of shopping carts, these metal beasts are about as easy to push as a wet mattress across blacktop. No fun whatsoever. If I’m not trying to shove a sedated elephant, aka shopping cart, through their aisles and instead go for a basket, first I have to FIND one. It seems there are never enough of them! That’s a little irritating. Back to produce — I’m on the fence. I’ve been able to find hatch chile peppers when I haven’t seen them anywhere else in the state, but most of the strawberries(in strawberry season at that) are moldy. On a major, RESTOCKTHEWHOLEDAMNKITCHENFORTHANKSGIVING, type of exodus for groceries, I will inevitably find myself going to both Woodman’s and this Pick simply because where one slumps the other will shine. I just wish a visit to one store would be sufficient.(Does this qualify as one of those whiny, «first-world» problems? Me thinks yes.) The parking lot is easily navigable(unlike Germantown’s Super Walmart — and yes, I will continue to mention how much I HAAAAAAATE their parking lot) and rarely are the cart-return corrals clogged and overflowing. Not that it matters to my dented up 15 year-old Maxima, but it’s the thought that counts. My last, and rather sizable, gripe would have to be that I wish they would have a few more cashiers open during peak hours. There are ample self-service registers available, but I usually end up charging myself for 40 pounds of saffron when what I meant was four pounds of potatoes. Big diff in price there, friends. Despite my derpitude when having to scan my own barcodes and key in my own PLUs, the employee tasked with helping me right my wrongs has always been patient and understanding. So I have to make a choice before my icecream melts: screw around with self-service or wait in line. Either way, it’s an annoyance that could be assuaged with a few more open registers. Whatever the case, this Pick’n’Save location is still neck-and-neck with Woodman’s, beating out the numerous other grocers in my area. There’s still room for improvement, though.

This Pick N Save is walking distance from my house which is a big plus in my book! The grocery store is huge. It took about 4 visits to the store to finally nail down where everything was. I did appreciate that they have handy store maps at the end if several aisles to help with locating things. There is a really big deli/prepared food bar area if you are more into eating versus cooking. Or if you forgot to pack lunch and are in a hurry to get something to eat now. Large liquor store, very large freezer section with a bulk item aisle. Great for those families that require their Eggo’s in a 48 pack! I like PNS for the double coupon days! Wednesday and Saturday if you are curious. It’s not quite good as living in the south but every penny saved is a plus. I haven’t had a lot of success at the self check out. There always seems to be an issue. Isn’t this suppose to be the quick way out? Hmmmm! I don’t think so. All on all I like this store and its close proximity to my home will ensure that I will be back on weekly basis.

Store opened about 1 year ago and I think that they have the kinks worked out and some things works and other areas they need help on. In my previous review they had a smoking area at the entrance to the store where employees hang out during their breaks and smoke cigarettes. This smoking area has been removed but the entrance area to their store is filthy — very humorous that amid this area they have a hand sanitizer display that says«our clean store starts here». Displays are generally well stocked unless it’s double coupon Wednesday and the couponers get there and clean out displays. When they have sales on meat the prices are really quite good so stock up then because when it’s not on sale it’s too expensive. They seem to have an ever rotating number of cashiers/stockers who are hired and then are gone. Some of the cashiers have multiple facial piercings which I despise.
