It has definitely come a long way since opening and the new chef definitely helped. One of the best fish frys in Mequon you can get panko or coconut breading and the cod was very flaky and not greasy at all and the homemade potato pancakes were amazing. The filet is to die for, cut with a butter knife tender and the truffle mashed potatoes are amazing. A must do for dinner, good prices and amazing service. We will be back!

I can’t believe that this place is still open, especially in Mequon. The service is decent but the food and atmosphere is terrible. The place is dirty and has a smell of old grease and stale beer. The owners are rude and treat their customers like they could care less about them ever coming back. I had several bad experiences there and will never spend another penny there again.

Thank you Jon Taffer! Having watched enough of his«Bar Rescue» programs on Spike TV, I just couldn’t pass-up what appeared to be an amazing food and drink offer of $ 30 for just $ 10 on-line. After all, he claims a good bar has good food and this was one way of testing it, even though my wife and I as non-drinkers haven’t been to a tavern in years. Smitty’s sounded good and with an «Irish» theme, it sounded like a natural. Clean and spotless both inside and out it looked like they were waiting for us Tuesday when we pulled up, just on the edge of the Cedarburg line. Friendly folk gave us a nice welcome and Izzie, our server led us into a separate dining room complete with the Brewers game on the flat screen television. All smiles, Izzie answered our questions and we were on our way to see if Jon was«right.» I ordered the twice-baked barbeque ribs($ 17.50) with french fries. My wife ordered the Guinness Stew($ 8.95) and hearing this, I was glad I drove and not her. My ribs arrived worthy of a photo had my trusty camera been with me. Izzie needed both hands to bring my over-sized platter piled high with perfect ‘snapping’ french fries and a vegetable mix of whole green beans and large shaved carrots. Beautiful! The full rack of ribs were one size and totaled 14 in all. The home-made sauce had a perfect«kick.» Such a deal, I could only make it through the first nine tender bones. The other five would have to travel back to Whitefish Bay. I could hear my stomach growl. My wife’s Guinness Stew was a large portion of tender beef and vegetables served in a large soup bowl over real mashed potatoes and covered in a nice pouring of Guinness Stout. This was real«Irish» I thought, glad we came. Izzie invited us back and reminded us that Smitty’s Tuesday special is two Steak Sandwiches for just $ 14.95, a $ 5 savings. Perhaps reason enough to want to come back again. However, I’m sorry to report the unfinished ribs I took home disappeared by lunch time the next day. Where could they be I asked my wife?

Irish pub/neighborhood bar and restaurant on the border of Mequon and Cedarburg. It looked quaint and also busy each and everytime we have driven by in the last two years and so we satisfied our curiosity by stopping in today, Saturday afternoon on 3÷22÷2014 at about 4:45PM. We bellied up to the bar and felt right at home. Bar was busy with neighborhood folks having a good time. We really liked the large pane glass window behind the bar that let in a lot of natural light and makes the bar feel even cozier. A sign above the bar read’s, «There will be no working during drinking hours.» Yep, my kinda place. We heard that they had good food here, and when we asked the bartender, we found out that there was a Prime Rib special tonight. We decided to eat there at that point and were glad we did. The Prime Rib was excellent, as was the(half) «Wedge Salad» with blue cheese and bacon bits that started the meal, the baked potato and the fresh string beans and carrots that it came with. The Prime Rib dinner was only $ 20.95 and the(half) «Wedge salad was $ 5.95;» a very good value for the quality received from this meal. Bartender was very informative, friendly and accomodating.(Sorry, didn’t get her name). Our dinner server, Izzie, was extremely friendly, efficient, informative and made our meal that much more pleasurable. We’ll definitely be back again.
