I was just looking in the mirror after getting out of the shower thinking my chest looked really good. I wasn’t doing that a few months ago because I had gynecomastia; a condition that causes a male’s breast tissue to enlarge which made my chest look weird. Not only was it an eyesore but it was painful, too. I had initially gone to see my doctor because I was having a weird sharp pain/soreness and after some tests she sent me to Dr. Chu. My first impression of Dr. Chu was very positive. She was very friendly and interested. Not intimidating at all(the prospect of surgery is intimidating to me). She explained everything in terms someone who didn’t take years of medical school could understand. I was scheduled right away for a couple of weeks out and because this was more than just a cosmetic procedure she got approval from my insurance. I had gone to have liposuction done a few years back at Athenix in Fresno and the experience was less than desirable. They didn’t tell me what gynecomastia was and after they had removed the fat(unevenly), my chest still looked strange. The aftercare was a let down, too. I felt like they were just shooing me out and dismissing my concerns. Ultimately that went nowhere. So imagine my surprise when Dr. Chu did just the opposite. She was very interested in how I was feeling both pain wise and satisfaction wise. The goal wasn’t to just get me in and out. I did not book a return appointment last time because I feel like I don’t need to be seen right now. My chest looks much better, although it is still healing. She stressed to me that if I had any concerns she’d be happy to see me again. I’d definitely recommend her. In fact, I already have.
