HORRIBLE!!! Beware, im a small businesses owner, we called them out to fix something, they came, said they fixed it, was broken next day, came back, said they fixed another part in which he stated he broke? Then said O, its really broken it will cost another $ 2000+ to see if we can fix, I’m already in $ 1500, told them to stop working on the equipment, well when it came time to pay the bill, I noticed that there time fixing the equipment was a lot longer then they were here, so I called the office to ask why, and she stated«well it take time to fill out all the paperwork???» So you are charging the customer for your paperwork, yes, its part of the job!!! WOW, now the equipment is still broken, I paid $ 1500+ for them to break/look at/not fix/and there time to fill out paperwork, I am truly shocked!!! Please, please, be aware, I will never ever use them again, horrible, use Aire Service in MERCED, there on point.

I STRONGLY agree with Ron’s posting. This company is a COMPLETE rip-off. My mother’s 11 year old(with only 5 actual years of use) 4T Carrier Unit died on us. The inside fans were working, but the unit on the exterior of the house was kaput. A neighbor looked at it and the fan came on briefly, but the unit made an incredibly sad sound, so we turned it off and suffered through the night. Same neighbor told me he wasn’t sure who to call, but he had an acquaintance that worked at Modern Air and maybe give them a shot. I called them in the morning and they told me they would have a technician out within a half-hour or forty five minutes. I thought that was pretty great. The technician came over and did his little diagnostic on the unit. When he finished I asked him how bad it was and he told me he didn’t know and the office would call me with a quote. I thought that was odd, since he had just checked out the unit and had to have SOME idea of what we were looking at. The office called me and told me the repairs would be $ 2,600, but they would give me a «free» estimate(we already paid the $ 79) to replace exterior casing as well. My sister handles our mother’s finances, and she talked to them regarding the quote. They told us the fan was leaking oil and both the compressor and dual capacitator were dead. They were pushing my sister to just replace the whole unit as well. They also told us it would take 2 – 3 days to get the parts to replace. This all happened on a Friday morning before a weekend heatwave(yipee!!). Unfortunately, I had to deal with some medical issues with my mother and wasn’t able to follow up on anything that day. The following day was Saturday and our options were pretty limited. We ended up living through the weekend heatwave(100+), which was miserable. Finally, on Monday, I was able to get a hold of a family friend who is a contractor. He gave me the name of his A/C guy. His guy came out and looked at the unit. I told him what Modern Air had told us, and the first thing he said was the fan didn’t even USE oil. He went about his business of looking at the unit and told me he could fix it, with NO wait, for $ 340!!! That included a total system maintenance!!! Seriously? By my math, that’s bout $ 2,200 less than what Modern Air quoted us, there was NO pressure to buy a new unit, and there was NO wait for any parts. The ONLY thing Modern Air actually got right was the fact that the dual capacitor WAS dead, but that explained why the fan and compressor weren’t working. Unfortunately, since my sister is my mother’s financial Power of Attorney, I couldn’t approve the job until we talked, and she just happened to be in bo-funk Montana that didn’t have wi-fi access, cell phone service, or even a freaking land line!!! What kind of cavemen are they in Montana anyway? NOINTERNET??? NOCELL??? NOTEVENANOLDFASHIONTELEPHONE! THEHORROR! YIKES!!! Anyway, it was Monday when the AC guy came and Wednesday before good ol’ sis returned to civilization, so we suffered a few more days then had him come back. As promised, the job cost $ 340(there COULD have been additional costs if we needed freon, but he wouldn’t know until he got inside the unit, ended up we didn’t need any). He was at the house for maybe an hour or so. During that time, he fixed the unit and completed an over-all maintenance of both the interior and exterior units. Modern Air is a sham. All they want to do is take advantage of people and rob them blind for something that is a necessity if you live in this area. I would suggest everyone steer clear of them.
