My experience is from when I visited UC Merced’s campus and went to the food carts. Samosas and murrito(no chicken curry or jalepenos) are LEGIT!!! Will be back.

Very poor quality of food M so sorry to say Iam Indian but they fool American propel saying they are serving Indian food… I asked about what kind of green chutney they are serving… Indian lady came to me tells me this is mint chutney… But actually there was no mint in it… I asked her where is mint she said that what we serve to white ppl… I told her customers come to this restaurant because they want to taste real Indian food so let them try that not something u just creat on u r own and make innocent people fool… Sorry to say but she was super mad because I told her the truth. So RECOMMENDATION is please try TURMERIC instead of if some one really want to enjoy real INDIAN food best quality and best service…

Love this place! We go on Sunday’s at least once a month for the buffet. Best tandoori chicken I have had at an Indian Restaurant so far. The spices are just right. Also love the red rice and naan. Together they make a sweet combo! If you’re not sure what to get here go for the buffet to see what you like.

Just happen to find this place, didn’t really sound that good and turned out to be wonderful food. We got the vegetarian plate for 2, was very flavorful and filling. Took half of mine home for left overs. Tried the Taj Mahal beer and a smooth lager. Staff was friendly and attentive. We will be coming back for sure.

Finally got to try this restaurant. Dragged my brother with me because he pretty much likes everything, Was a little intimidating looking at the menu. Other people did the ordering for me. Thanks to the young ladies advise on what to order we were very happy. Everything was delicious. Definitely will be coming back.

We were pleasantly surprised to see Indian restaurant in Merced. We went just at closing time. Server was nice enough to still accommodate us Ambiance: Big restaurant with lots of Indian artifacts. Place was completely empty Service: Very nice & quick. Food: Amazing. We ordered veggie Delight & Kofta. Each entrée is served with salad, rice & naan !!! that is so awesome. Mango lassi was also good. Quantity was huge. Price: For the one entrée price, you get full meal. It’s very very cheap. This will be our go-to restaurant whenever we are passing by :)

This is our favorite Indian restaurant! The food is great and so is the service. Everything we have tried has been very good, especially the chicken tikka, dahl machini and cabbage subgi. I would highly recommend Taste of Little India!

My favorite place ever! Lunch buffet is the best. Can taste different dishes for one price. Naan is amazing. Don’t forget the lunch buffet on sundays!

We went to Taste of Little India as a group of 4… And I’m extremely happy we decided to go there! First of all, our server was super nice and attentive. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had such a friendly waitress! I decided to split the vegetarian dinner for two with my friend. It was nice that it came on separate plates(with an option for different spice preferences!), and the serving was much larger than I expected! I ordered mine medium spicy, and I’ll admit it was a little spicier than I expected but not so much that I couldn’t enjoy the flavors. The Mataar Paneer and Lentils were absolutely divine! The Alu Saag was a little bland compared to the rest, but it mixed well with the others and was really nice to help cut the spice. The one change I would have made would be to try another appetizer besides the vegetable samosas, they were fine but didn’t really stack up to the rest of the meal in my opinion. However those were also served with some chickpeas that I wish I could have had more of! All in all, slightly sad I was only visiting Merced because I thought this food and experience was GREAT!

First time coming here was about a week ago. I’ve never had Indian food before I was quite happy with this restaurant and the food. It was clean and nice overall. The waiter there was excellent.

Tried this place for the 2nd time. Was looking forward to it, since our first visit was decent. Unfortunately this time, they were out of «80% of their beers»(said by the waiter). On a Saturday night none the less! Our soup(which was more like yellow lentil water) and salad came out 5 mins after our entrees. The portions were super small for the price and made of way more sauce than chicken or paneer. There was seriously only like 6 pieces in each dish. I will say that the rice and naan were on point though. The servers were nice, but things just kept falling through the cracks. Like the credit card machine not working, and us sitting at a table full of dirty dishes for 10 – 15 minutes while things got worked out. Probably won’t got back, which is a bummer cause I love me some Indian grub!

I’m sorry people but I went here on a few occasions and I was very disappointed on the buffet selection. I also feel the staff should be happy and helpful. Not sweating and look as though they want to die. Gosh smile dude! You will get a tip from me even if you did not deserve one. That’s how I roll!

I love this place! Been going there since he was in Atwater(Buhach & Bellevue). The naan(bread) is always baked fresh in a clay oven. The Baingan Bhurtha(eggplant) dish is my absolute favorite. Couple that with the chicken tikka and you’ve got yourself a very fine meal. I also love the chicken pakoras. The service is always great.

I love going here for their lunch buffet! I have only ordered from their dinner menu once and after experiencing how pricey it is I decided to stick with the buffet from now on. Anyway, they don’t have many items in their small island buffet but that doesn’t matter when the quality of the items is consistently delicious. If you’ve never dined at an Indian restaurant before I suggest you do so here you cannot beat the amazing quality and price of their lunch buffet

We were looking forward to a succulent lamb meal but unfortunately the meat was so dry and overdone I couldn’t tell what kind of meat I was trying to eat. It had been a long time since I had been there and now it will be longer until I go back. What a disappointment! The manager had no kind response when I called, except«Everyone raves about our food».

The food is okayish but there is something which pissed me off. The person(or manager) who was taking orders and serving was arrogant.

We stopped by during the weekday lunch rush and were quickly guided to a table. It seems that most people go for the lunch buffet which includes about four curry-like dishes, two rices(sweet and basmati) and naan. I guess there’s also a salad bar on the other side of the register, but I didn’t discover it until it was time to pay. If you want to try a few items and have all the naan you can eat, $ 9 for a beverage and the buffet is pretty awesome. The items in the buffet go fast, but it looks like the staff tries to pay attention and replenish low dishes regularly. If you are more particular and want to order from the menu, I think that’s also an option, but I didn’t see anyone in the full dining room not eating from the buffet. I was impressed with how attentive the one server(possibly owner/manager?) was, and enjoyed my food flavors and textures very much. 3 stars only for the very small selection and poorly placed other half of the buffet – rendering it difficult to discover until after paying the bill.

This place wasn’t too bad. Being from the Bay Area, there are tons of great Indian places. Who would have thought an Indian place in Merced would be as good as the ones in the East Bay? I did not. I had the chicken curry, and it was good. Rating Food: 4 Service: 4.5 Price: 3.5 Overall: 4 I like this place.
