Always such a pleasure to come in. The staff is pleasant and welcoming. If you want coffee with hand crafted precision see Bailey. He makes a great cup of Joe! This is my go-to spot whenever I come to Mercer Island

I had their sandwich of the month, and a cup of Tomato Bisque soup. Everything was tasty. The soup was perhaps a tad salty. Seating can be limited.

Food is great — fresh, organic and tasty. The place is somewhat small so getting a seat at the weekend was a little tough. I have been to the one downtown as well as the Mercer Island one — both good.

This is our go-to place to eat on the island. My kids usually get their grilled cheese kid meals, and I the pastrami or TLT. They can be heavy handed on the condiments, especially at peak times, but I ask, and usually receive what I want. Everything looks and tastes fresh. My FIL ate here nearly everyday when he came for a visit. He LOVED the turkey and cranberry. This place is a bit pricey, but it is local and high-quality.

My son ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and BLTA sandwich and got so sick he had to go to the hospital within four hours of eating there. This occurred 3-18-2016.

Definitely one of my favorite weekend eateries. Hipster sandwich shop on the island offering organic, all-natural food options and a decent coffee selection. I love the clean space and raw décor. It’s a great place to grab lunch with friends, get work done with their free wifi, or stop by for some summer afternoon Molly Moon’s ice cream sammies. YUM. The shop is casual and has quick and friendly service. I’m a vegetarian and and was pleased with the options they had for me.

One of my favorite restaurants on the island! Great sustainable food, convenient location and prompt service. My favorites meals are Beechers sandwich, the hummus and red pepper sandwich and the grilled chicken salad with mixed greens! The proportions are just the right size and I usually order the half sandwich instead of the whole. I love the packaging and branding — it’s pretty hip. The place is always clean and the staff is courteous. Keep it up!

Let’s start off by saying, we were really hungry before work, having skipped breakfast, and were looking for something to pick up on the way. There were little options, and I have heard so many great things about these cafes and company, so we decided to give them a try. We drove up and it was very easily found. When walking towards the door, we noticed the lady behind the counter on her phone, which I don’t really care about, it was just off putting that she kind of glared and quickly put her phone in her pocket. When we walked in, we took everything in. It was very clean and it was obvious that someone spent a lot of time on the marketing and design. My husband is a graphic designer and said as much. Having never been there before, we took a minute to look over the menu, which seemed to annoy the lady at the counter. A cheerful man walked past her to the second register and asked us if we wanted any coffee, which we declined, and then he presumed his work on the sand which line. When we did finally order, I ordered a egg, avocado and cheddar sandwich. He ordered a pesto sandwich. When she asked if I wanted a full or half size, I asked how big the sizes were. She kind of opened her mouth, pointed at a bag of sandwich rolls on the counter and said«that». I opted for a half. She then spouted off a bunch of other questions, which I don’t mind being asked, but the tone that she asked was nearing hostile. I know the food industry, and I also know that people are people and you can dislike me because I take a few minutes to order, but you don’t have to rude or short. The rest of the 5 – 10 minutes that I spent in the store(waiting for our food) was awkward and unwelcoming. If I was there alone, I probably would have left without ordering. The girl that helped us teetered between leaning on the back counter and helping the customers at the register. The other person, jumped from coffee to sandwiches to… Well, he seemed to be doing everything. I do not know if there was anyone else in the store.

Yummmmy breakfast sandwiches. Try the egg-avocado. Catering is great also. Wish they’d open a store in Issaquah. If I eat one more Panera sandwich I might die.

I love Homegrown, and believe they serve better sandwiches than typical sandwich shops like Subway or Quiznos. You get what you pay for, so the prices for a sandwich may be higher than what you’d expect; but that’s because all the products are organic, healthy, and local. I love the Chicken Pesto sandwich with whole-wheat bread, which is from Grand Central Bakery in Seattle. It’s sooo yummy, especially when toasted. Homegrown also serves Stumptown coffee, and has almond milk, which are two big pluses for me. Also, they serve beer and wine. Though I like Hilliard’s beer(which was served here at the MI location), I would prefer the beer on tap instead of canned. The staff are really friendly, and the playlist playing seems to remind me of mine.

It’s really comical how bad their service is, given how good their food is. We are frequent customers and every single time something is missing or wrong with our order. Why do we go back? Well, the food is still good despite the mistakes. We often get salads to go, and the last 3 times, though the bread shows up on the receipt, it does not make it into the bag(and of course, we notice that after we’re home.) Today, I ordered a BLT salad. Halfway through my salad, I realized it wasn’t a BLT salad — I had someone’s chicken with avocado, which was delicious, but not what I had ordered(and someone was out there with my BLT salad!). The receipt on my tray had my name on it and my BLT salad listed, but a whole different salad was placed on the tray, with the wrong bread — but hey! at least the bread made it with the order today! See? Comical! Comical… and at the same time frustrating. I need to remember to check everything in the bag before I leave, and check my receipt against what’s on the tray if I dine in.

I am glad I came back here, the hummus and roasted pepper sandwich was perfect. Great for a healthy and filling lunch. Prices are reasonable, and they are quick about making them, even during lunch hour. The staff is very friendly and courteous!

Finally a good café type place on the island. I love Homegrown even though they are expensive everywhere. I love being able to get coffee to go here and the sandwiches they have. Their gluten free bread is actually pretty good too. I love being able to build your own salad too from the greens, toppings and dressing. Please don’t leave!

I give one star for the great stuff, who work there. As for the food, it is not good enough to bring us back. We got one half Italian sandwich and two children’s plus two drinks. Paid $ 37 and were greatly disappointed by the teeny– weeny size of the sandwiches and lack of taste. My Italian special sandwich looked so good on the picture, but, in fact, had two pieces of salami and three leaves of salad inside. Too bad I ate it before I thought of taking a picture. The kids sandwiches were so scary looking and dry, even the kids didn’t eat it. I took a picture of that. It would be great if they spent less money on branding(special paper wrap, logo– sticker on each sandwich, special bag to carry it all) and more on the ingredients.

Ever since Homegrown opened two months ago near my work, I’ve frequent this place countless of times. I’ve even gone three days in a row this week! This is a great place to those with dietary restrictions and great to those without. The menu features local ingredients and all the bread could be substituted for gluten-free. The menu also offers several vegetarian and vegan options. I’ve had their TLT(tofu, lettuce, tomato) sandwich and their hummus and roasted pepper. Both were simply delightful and left me feeling great throughout the remainder of my day. They also have a delicious vegetarian chili with feta cheese. Great sustainable food, cute place and prompt service, this is exactly what the island needed!

Good food and coffee. Limited menu features local ingredients. Small-ish portion size for the price with no sides. Clean, considered interior. Friendly and helpful staff. The $ 10PB&J better give your mouth an orgasm. If it does let me know and I’ll shell out for it :)

If you have ever been to a homegrown, you know how delicious this place is. This particular location is still pretty new and appears to be going through some growing pains. The first time I visited a couple months ago they were obviously still trying to figure out how to best manage the kitchen and register workloads; I visited again today and it appears they have still not figured it out. The staff, while very friendly, seems to be easily flustered under pressure. I was able to observe many interactions with the staff and a woman, who appeared to be the manager, hoping that everything was going to work out okay while the breakfast crowd came through the door. About 20 minutes after we arrived and got our food, the line started growing to the point where it was literally out the door and hitting the bookstore next door. This is an excellent representation of just how good the food is, however the line moved very slowly. The other danger with lines this long is that the dining area is usually full and you will need to look for seating outside, or take your meal to go. I have no qualms about going back again, but I will be prepared to turn around and leave should I see a long line.

What a lovely surprise to have a Homegrown on MI! It has replaced the old Stopsky’s deli. I love how clean and bright this sandwich place is. I went there two days in a row; I got to try Hummus + Roasted Red Peppers + avocado(extra cost) on whole grain bread, tomato bisque, a little bit of Smoked Pastrami(for my boyfriend), and a chocolate chip cookie. I ordered a half of the sandwich on both of my visit. Depending on how hungry you are, it may or may not be enough. You may want to get a cup of tomato bisque(or vegetarian chili). I never order or eat a pastrami sandwich, but theirs was pretty yummy with cheddar cheese and caramelized onion. I found it a bit too sweet and would have liked a bit more mustard or something to offset the sweetness. Nonetheless, it was still delicious. It is usually teemed with MI housewives and not the most inexpensive lunch place. However, I do like their sandwiches.

Don’t bother going here on a Wednesday or Sunday if you don’t want your sandwich ruined by slimy, bitter greens. They get their greens in on Thursdays and Mondays(yes, I asked and complained). It’s so disappointing, especially because they pride themselves on freshness. I hope they can find a solutions, otherwise, they’ve lost a loyal customer.

Woah, yum. And exactly what Mercer Island needed – an ecofriendly yummy place to get sandwiches, soups, salads, and good coffee that isn’t Starbucks. I’ve been enjoying Homegrown for years so I’m really stoked that they opened their 8th location so close to me! I’ve visited twice and both visits were phenomenal. You go up, order, find a spot, grab water and utensils, pick up your food, enjoy, compost and bus your own table. I ADORE how they are aiming for no waste! The first time I went in, I went with a friend on a Saturday for brunch and it was poppin. We ordered the pesto chicken, avocado and egg, side caprese salad, and a latte. The latte art was depressing but the sandwiches were phenomenal. The egg was cooked perfectly and runny. You have two choices for bread and a gf option. My side salad was quite pretty and came with a side of bread. Even though it was busy, all the employees were quite friendly and our order was accurate. Everything came out to around $ 30 with tip. The second visit was another weekend for brunch and the place was empty! We ordered the egg and avocado, bacon and egg, side caprese, oatmeal, and three lattes. We asked for one latte to be less strong than the others and it came out just as strong – oh well. Sandwiches were great as well. The salad came in a plastic bowl and with no side bread so they will need to work on consistency. The oatmeal really stole the show with dried fruits, nuts, and brown sugar. Everything came out to be $ 45 with tip. The biggest disappointments were the latte art(I mean come on you’re serving Stumptown, can you really not find an adequate barista???) and the bathrooms. Other than that, this is as great spot to enjoy honest food and coffee and read and do work. As for everyone complaining about the price, it’s about the quality of the food you eat. There’s a McDonald’s a few buildings away if you wanna be cheap!
