Mercer Island Physical Therapy

Have been going to MIPT for almost 5 months for rehab for two knee replacements. The first October 2 and second December 18. I have mainly seen Kyle and Kim who are both fabulous. I really like the local and friendly atmosphere. Hannah and now John are really helpful in making me do my exercises but in a kind and cheerful way. I have also taken advantage of their pool PT for my second knee. I love to swim and working with Julia and Debbie has been a real treat. There are many choices of places to go. I highly recommend MIPT. Yes you will have to work really hard and it will not be easy. Well maybe a little easier and more pleasant at MIPT. Thank you!

I would highly recommend Mercer Island Physical Therapy. I have been working with Dr. Richard Barnes for pain in my legs. He is excellent at diagnosing and treating the cause of the pain not just the symptoms. He continuously listens and provides treatments and a plan to reduce the pain and increase strength and stability. The whole staff is caring and supportive.

My son saw Richard due to ankle pain from running on the cross country team for his high school. Richard was great with him, spotted the problem immediately and coached my son through some stretches to handle the problem himself. Didn’t try to sell us any more visits or anything. On a scale of 1 — 10, easily a 10 if not more. Very impressed with him, he is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

I broke both of my feet after I fell off of a ladder. After three months of healing, I was ready to schedule my physical therapy. I had used other firms for other ailments in the past, but was encouraged to try Richard Barnes at Mercer Island Physical Therapy after my brother-​in-​law and nephew raved about his PT skills. They were «right on» in their assessment. As a doctor of physical therapy, Richard was highly skilled in his diagnosis and recommended treatment. I hardly had to tell him about any of my symptoms because he was able to tell me exactly how I was feeling by simply watching me walk and feeling the muscles. etc. in my feet. Richard was fun to talk to during my sessions and highly engaged throughout my treatment. He was clearly focused on making sure that I was able to walk properly again. One thing I really appreciated is that he didn’t try and recommend more sessions than I needed. Some of the other firms that I had been to felt like they needed to meet some kind of quota.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Richard to any of my friends or relatives. A true professional. One word of warning… if you want to schedule a specific time with Richard, do it early and schedule two or three sessions in advance. He is really popular and his appointments fill up fast.

After a severe soccer injury last November I had orthopedic knee surgery (ACL replacement, meniscus and LCL repair). I was originally referred to (and attended) another physical therapy group where I did not progress at an adequate rate. Richard Barnes @ MIPT was recommended to help me through my complications (constant knee pain, stiffness and lack of both flexion and extension). I had been living with these problems for months with many visits to my doctor and other therapists. I met with Richard just a few times and was astonished at my progress. Not only was I well on my way to total recovery, but equipped with practical tools to stay strong. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy his knowledge is unparalleled and he works with a great group. Doug Free and the physical therapy team here are wonderful. As a doctor of Physical Therapy he has more knowledge and training than the other practitioners I’ve seen. I have a very complicated condition and he has been working wonders relieving the pain, identifying issues and helping me get back on my feet. Polite, friendly staff. I have never been kept waiting and I feel like my health is really important to the team. Can’t recommend them enough.
