Visiting the area for training. I came here for lunch and tried the lobster roll. It was delicious!

This place has THEBEST fried WHOLE belly clams around!!! Yes, they have strips too but the whole belly is where all the flavor is. Tender, juicy and never sandy! The staff is always friendly and I would recommend this place to anyone! LOVELOVELOOOOOVE this place!

I’ve grab a sandwich here many of times when I’m short on time and looking for something near home. I’ve never been really Impressed. Each sandwich(mostly wraps) I’ve gotten has been on the small side. While tasting fine its very short on meat and any wow factor. But yet you still pay the price of a big wrap you would get from like rosa’s in wallingford. I got soup twice and also not impressed/it was cold. I do like that they have some fresh produce and homemade cookies. It definitely has that local farm like feel and they definitely make you feel welcomed. They also sell local honey and homemade pies. All in all I still eat here, its very close to my house and can get an ok sandwich rather quickly.

Been going here for years love their sandwiches! Everything is homemade, their clam chowder is real and definitely can tell it’s made from scratch! Love their cookies too :)

If you’re looking for a quick treat along the way, some fresh produce and don’t feel like going to crowded grocery stores, desserts for all occasions, this deli is a great choice if you’re close by or even want to travel to at least try them out. This place is great, I’ve been here a couple times over the years and I would come more often if I lived in the area albeit I don’t. The sandwiches are so good, I had a chicken cutlet with tomato, lettuce, mayo, cheese and everything was so fresh, the tomato was so sweet and perfectly ripe. I come here whenever I can, and again wish they had one over in eastern Connecticut. They also sell desserts, bakery items, and fresh produce, you really can’t go wrong here. The prices aren’t too bad either, for two sandwiches and chips it came to $ 17, and for what you get in the sandwich I’m very happy with that price.

I get lunch here sometimes because it’s the closest spot near work. There aren’t too many options around. The food is very medicore — never amazing or bad. The staff tends to fuck up orders from time to time. Their chicken salad sandwich on cranberry bread is good.

I promised myself to go and have some clams at this place for some 10 years. Finally was in the area and w/appetite.went in for the 1st time. Got the fried clams and fries. clams were freekin huge. quahogs or something. Thought to myself.man.I don’t know if I’m a gonna like these. whole bellies. just too big. but I just looked at the batter and said. these are different. and they look really good. very well prepared. Took 1 bite.and.holy cow… soft…tasty.clean and fresh. probably the best I’ve ever had.delish. This is a Mom and Pop place. good vibes the day I went… busy there too. .I don’t see these kind of places much around anymore. and I’m definitely coming back… very…very.soon. And for those that say these are high prices. just come to Middletown to eat. and see what quality you get … So for what this is. I’m luvin this place. Keep the good food comin guys.

Have visited this place twice & got the lobster rolls each time(so good and cheap!!) Minus one star for the plastic tables and chairs, I would definitely sit down and eat with nicer décor.

I love the soups I have tried. The lobster roll is fantastic I’ve read that others think it’s over priced but it is all lobster meat and most decent lobster rolls are more than $ 10. Theirs is much better than the restaurant I work at and is less than half the price, it’s really good. The cookies are also really good, i recommend giving it a try

What else could you ask for? The order window is tucked in the back, forcing the customer to walk past local veggies, homemade snacks and LITERALLY your grandma’s cookies individual packed in plastic baggies and priced to sell($.50 to $.75). On top of everything, lunch was excellent. I really enjoyed the lobstah roll, and as a Mainer this is an especially meaningful recommendation.

Has the right ingredients for success, but needs to spiff up. The farmstand of local fruit and produce outside is a great idea. More products can be added inside, as there is space for them and it would make the interior more attractive. The wrap I had was great, but I’m not sure what else I would order from the menu besides it… the creations need to be rethought and more specials should be offered. The owner and staff are friendly, and together a little work on their place inside and out(signage, offerings, etc.) will serve them well.

Where’s the meat? When I go to a mom and pop place I expect to get more meat than subway. I spent more than 10 bucks on a small roll, chips and a soda. There was like 3 slices of ham. It tasted pretty good but was not filling at all. I just can’t recommend this place. It’s always packed and I can’t figure out why. If you are looking for a good grinder and are willing to drive about ten mins lino’s market in Durham is way better.

I love this place but it’s extremely overpriced. I like to support local businesses and try to stop in every now and then. However, it’s really hard to justify supporting a local business when the prices are so high! Every now and then I come in and just get a clam chowder, which is as reasonable as it gets at Spoonshoppe and is pretty tasty. However, I don’t come here often or recommend coming here unless it is for a speciality item.

We LOVE this deli and market. Ok, so it’s almost 2 hours from our house. We just find excuses to sort of drive by on our way to anywhere in New England. Like we did on our way to Rhode Island. The sandwich selection is awesome, with our favorite being the lobster roll on a toasted, buttered roll. They pack about ¼ pound of lobster onto this side-split bun. Mostly everything is fresh, and sandwiches are made to order. They offer a daily selection of fresh baked cookies and pastries. Oh, and HUGE kosher garlic pickles in the fridge. You have to survey the chalkboard menu, place your order at the window and serve yourself. All to our delight.

Only been there once for fried clams & salad. Both very good. Service a little slow, especially for takeout. Cookies good too! Can sit outside near brook. Will return. A bit pricey but fresh food worth it.

I’m sure little roadside stands are more common in other areas, but when Spoonshoppe opened up I gave it less than a year. The most hot item is the hot lobster roll. I’m sure you’ve had a lobster roll before, but this one is hot buttery and on a toasted foot long roll. You will have to excuse the picture I took of it because it was half eaten when I decided to take a picture. They have a variety of fresh and local items along with the hot foods menu. This place has a lot of charm.

Whenever I’m in the area, I make sure I stop in at the Spoonshoppe for lunch. I always mix it up and order something that I’ve never had there before, and I’m never disappointed! I find the prices to be a little higher than other competing establishments in the area. However, nobody else around has the quality that the Spoonshoppe has to offer! Nothing beats a family owned deli with fresh, healthy options!

First impressions, set back a bit from the road. Nice little storefront that gives you that country home feeling. Inside is nice. Again it gives that country feeling, that is until you walk up to the counter and look at all the prices. Contrary to a previous comment, places like these do not usually have very high prices like you will find at the Spoonshoppe. For the type of food they serve they have no business charging what they do. If the food was better I can understand. But it ranks lower than any deli I usually go to. Seems like Meriden is lacking in the deli/market department as I have yet to have anything decent. Mac and Cheese. Not terrific. Better than some of the surrounding places but still, nothing special at all. Egg salad out of a bucket. Greasy fried calamari. Big portion but not big quality. Eggplant sub was soggy. Service what service? Folks in there make you feel like you don’t belong. Why are you coming in and ordering food? That’s the impression they gave me and the parents were there. There was an older man working the register at the time. Rang us out with a look of disgust on his face. And then didn’t even offer a bag or box or anything. I had to request a bag. mac and cheese. 2 subs. 2 entrees. and 4 drinks. Big disappointment.
